  • All i can say is that it had better be restored, the town won't be the same without it.

  • Truly built to last!

  • amazing...how well built structures hold up like that...one little beauty of a bridge!

  • Awesome bridge - we thank engineers and builders for the sturdier infrastructure here in VT. NO GODS ARE NEEDED (nor wanted).

  • What's the music selection?

  • How, damn tough bridge,,,take that mother nature

  • No more rope swing

  • They should rename it to "Defiance Covered Bridge"

  • When I first heard of the Quechee bridge being destroyed, I thought the whole structure was washed away. It would be nice if people can restore it.

  • This video brought tears, big gulping tears, as both sets of grandparents lived in Quechee next door to each other. My grandmother, Pauline Cole, was the librarian for 43 years and was on her way to open the library in Dec. 1992 when she was killed in a car accident. My cousin still lives on Main St. Memories abound as we lived in Barnard and drove over the Taftsville bridge all the time to get to Quechee. Thanks for such a heartfelt video.

  • Heh the road around it was fracked but the bridge held up. Thats some good engineering right there. Hope its fixed quicky and good as new soon.

  • It made me cry to see such devastation to such historical bridges. I hope that some can be restored for future generations. They are Vermont's treasure. God bless the people of Vermont!

  • Thanks for posting this well made video! Hopefully they will be able to restore this bridge! It is so sad to lose the history that goes along with these bridges!! It was heartbreaking to watch the other one get washed away! God's blessings on everyone during the recovery and clean up period!

  • How sad. Only hope it will be fixed and can be.

  • After the repair, it will be a distinct honor to walk that bridge again post-Irene!

  • The little bridge that could.....and did.

  • I went past this bridge when Tropical Storm Irene was happenning

  • good show Heather....thanks for the updating of this in this video.

  • Great video, and a great little bridge that is near and dear to many of our hearts. Those old timers - they sure knew how to build 'em!

  • Thanks for putting this up. I have a house in Quechee and I think it is inspiring that this little bridge held up to that incredible flood. My heart goes out to my neighbors in Quechee as the long clean up begins.

  • This is an amazing and touching video. This bridge and town hold a dear place in my heart. Thank you very much for sharing this.

  • Thank you for this heart-wrenching homage to Queechee and its historic bridge. For 20 yr., my dad summered there and it's very dear to our entire family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by Irene. The Eisenberg Family

  • So so glad it's still there! So many other covered bridges were lost - great to see this one still there.

  • Remarkabe that it is still there!

  • But it didn't collapse. Still standing!
