This video brought tears, big gulping tears, as both sets of grandparents lived in Quechee next door to each other. My grandmother, Pauline Cole, was the librarian for 43 years and was on her way to open the library in Dec. 1992 when she was killed in a car accident. My cousin still lives on Main St. Memories abound as we lived in Barnard and drove over the Taftsville bridge all the time to get to Quechee. Thanks for such a heartfelt video.
It made me cry to see such devastation to such historical bridges. I hope that some can be restored for future generations. They are Vermont's treasure. God bless the people of Vermont!
Thanks for posting this well made video! Hopefully they will be able to restore this bridge! It is so sad to lose the history that goes along with these bridges!! It was heartbreaking to watch the other one get washed away! God's blessings on everyone during the recovery and clean up period!
Thanks for putting this up. I have a house in Quechee and I think it is inspiring that this little bridge held up to that incredible flood. My heart goes out to my neighbors in Quechee as the long clean up begins.
Thank you for this heart-wrenching homage to Queechee and its historic bridge. For 20 yr., my dad summered there and it's very dear to our entire family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by Irene. The Eisenberg Family
All i can say is that it had better be restored, the town won't be the same without it.

Awesome bridge - we thank engineers and builders for the sturdier infrastructure here in VT. NO GODS ARE NEEDED (nor wanted).

When I first heard of the Quechee bridge being destroyed, I thought the whole structure was washed away. It would be nice if people can restore it.

So so glad it's still there! So many other covered bridges were lost - great to see this one still there.
