But, I and We(Christians) believe that JESUS is not Just a great man, who was crucifed, buried and rose again by God, He is God and God himself. @jaga454 yes cos mike licona arguments are not based on the gospels as the lead evidence but early creed from colosian one : fifteen, and philippian two six - elen which dated to as much two year after the crucifixion, maybe even closer

and the case is also heavely based on two argument one ------ the crucifixion a historical fact, and two ------ the resurrect which is the best explination of the facts that are record in one corintians fifteen and the gospels, and air tight case

is it me or did shabir not really give a good arguement or even try t disolve mike case, all shabir dd was attack the gospels and mike never even used them but early creeds and support evidence for seems like shbir was lost in his own stratosphere and could no give a sound couner case,or even deal with mikes presentatin

Particularly in light of the fact that the Bible has many eyewitnesses that are consistent and non contradictory in their testimony, rooted in documents that date back to the very events..ie the creeds like 1 Cor 15 that summarizes the life of Christ, the events, and eyewitnesses numbering some by name and listing over 500 eyewitnesses contrary to what Shabir stated.

whitejewel Shabbir is right to say that ALL historical evidence and scholarship would say it IS beyond a shadow of a doubt that the crucifixion and death of Christ is a solid fact of history based on objective evidence..and ONLY Muslims believe CONTRARY to ALL historical evidence that supports that fact. Why do you choose to believe something CONTRARY to the evidence, AND believe a book w NO external eyewitnesses dated 600 yrs after Christ though trying to explain what happened to Christ..

Anyway , Jesus taught us to pray for our enemy so we are still praying for him to become like Apostle Paul. First of all Paul denied Jesus and tortched chrstaind people but when he saw Jesus he was totally changed and he had to proclaim the news that he had hated in his life about JEsus Christ. I think that Shabbir was not on the right side of the muslim.

it seems like in the debate that he support the death and resurection ,the muslim must believ that "They killed him not and they crucified him not".

and sometimes it seems like he support the resurection,that is not the true belief of muslims we say:

jesus never died nor crucified,he didnt rose,but the jesus that returned(resurection) was jesus himself.

see the first intervention of shabir in this debate he explained that point there are other explanations of that verse. and maybe hjesus on whom be peace survived the crusification rather than was replaced by somoene who looks like him you can explaim the verse by they didnt kill him in general nor they killed him by crusifixion crusifying doesnt mean putting somone on the cross only but killing somone through crusfiction(salaba in arabic )

Shabbir wasnt so convincing.. he gave too many points, also he alluded to the idea that Jesus might have atually died which i find odd, and that actually suports the christian argument. Quran clearly says he was not crucified, so its strange that he argued that Jesus could have been crucified, but did not die. He would have been more convincing if he just stuck to the substitutin or the rescue theory.
