  • Thanks a lot for sharing this mate!

  • that is fucking genious thanks man

  • go gettem terror

  • serra's a beast

  • i didn't knew this type of armbar

    it's amazing

    he's a pro!

    grtz frm belgium

  • Obviously he is a fantastic grappler, but he seems as if he would be an even better instructor then most.Great vid, great technique

  • matt serra what a fucking pro

  • yeah he rocked his opponent in his last fight

  • That dude is really ripped!

  • bello

  • sic

  • what a fantastic technique.

    u are a master pal.

  • the person already died at 1:37

  • this guy sounds so dramatic

  • its matt serra!!

  • I tryed this move today when i was grappling and i pulled it off its not that hard

  • Brilliant. Very nice counter to the obvious counter someone will try when being choked by the rear naked. Added to Favorites, 5 Stars.

  • Very nice!

  • great armlock with a headlock feint

  • Can someone inform me what "gi" means? something to do with wearing a uniform or not right?

  • A Gi is the traditional uniform worn while competing in Jiu Jitsu as well as many other Eastern Martial Arts and Brazilian Martial Arts. There is a fine division between Gi and No-Gi fighting/grappling because the absence or presence of a Gi can enable or disable lots of moves.

  • well, the best way to explain this is to search in google image and type: Gi, and that's the ''uniform'' most japanese martial artists wear.

  • gi is the white pajama looking clothes

  • It is difficult to pull off but not impossible. A number of variables have to be in place. For instance the opponent can avoid the legs being wrapped around the neck if they anticipate it early

  • nice but it still ends in a sideway armbar.

  • nice tutorial

  • That would be very hard to pull off in a real fight

  • it's 2009 already!

  • patsfanatic84, nobody gives a flying fuck.

  • wow..... your stupid you dont need a gi in order to do jiu jitsu hence why there is gi and no gi haha

  • cool move

  • He sounds like Tyson

  • But he can kick your ass.

  • yep

  • Worked for me several times, but when I trap my partners arm too tight....ALARM BELLS starting to sound and most of the times they start turning in to me. Result: loosing the position. I choose to trap his arm a bit loose and swing my leg over his head. When falling back you will not get a submision because his arm isn't trapt tight....but I just finish the armbar. Really like this move as it isn't too obvious what you intend to do.

  • u dont just lean back lol

u push ur hips to the ceilng

  • lehapankov i agree with u that its risky, and yes it should be a win already... but if you have a "agressive, MOVING" opponent and u slip. I actually think that it is a nice alternative..

  • that doesn´t work... it´s nice just to wach but it ´s inefficient

  • that's bullshit, 0:15 position is a sure win already, it doesn't worth to risk it

  • fighting is all risk look at the flying heel hook on anderson silva

  • lol some guys have no necks or are smart enough to keep their chin down...its hard to joke a good BJJ....I go for this arm bar all the time when I cant get the choke

  • some guys can easily escape a rear naked choke if they are strong enough

  • They can't escape it once it's locked in, but they can definitely avert it if they're good!

  • It doesn't matter how strong you are. It is very difficult to escape a properly executed rear-naked choke. Though being strong would help you avoid being caught in it.

  • every escape starts with making space which in this case would be to pry the arms off

which makes the arm bar transition very good if the guy is strong enough to pry the arms

  • @jcm011 the biggest mistake that people do while going into an RNC is the use the pit behing their elbow on the adams apple. you need to use your forearm, and there is no way they will escape

  • I like it, it goes the opposite direction of most armbars from the back, and locks in that arm in the transition, very good, I'll try this out and see if its practical, but I catch people in the sloppier aforementioned method all the time so I see no reason why it shouldn't. Best regards, and you should have got that decision in your last fight because at least you were working on the ground (can you say Omoplatta/Omo safety!!!), Hughes just laid there like a chump.

  • Serra Sucks!! Matt Hughes Beat the crap Outta U!

  • he dont suck Matt Hughes is just really really good..thats like saying rashad sucks cuz he got knocked out

  • i like it

  • wow thats a really good armbar

  • I likey,likey

  • vary very goo demo will use this one

  • great

  • Very nice.

Can't wait for Hughes vs Serra... I got my money on you, Serra! Train hard and give it to him New York style. Good luck!

  • how much did you lose, HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • $10!

  • lmao

  • very smart move i did no that one i'll pratice thanks ..sensei M.Serra.

    from Sensei Nico.

  • Very nice...I like the dual option to finish!!! I'll have to add this to my no-gi arsenal...

  • Nice! sneaky!

  • in my class we were doing a drill where you try and hold your partner in each guard/mount, and i had his back and i whipped out this armbar and ended it. he and the people around me hadn't seen it before.

  • haha. funny .. i like how he teaches the chock.. :)

  • nice

  • this is a nice very safe way

very nice this is how i learned it and i do it all the time cuz as a smaller guy chokes r a pain in the ass when 220 lb guys are holden on to ur hands i just pull their head to the side and toss the leg over, its risky but way faster

but this way that matss showing

is the safest smoothest way imo

  • Chowda!

  • too low percentage for me :/

  • Thats an awesome way to get it. Never seen it done that way with the whole hand under arm. Thats pretty good matty boy, but stop tawlking like dat.

  • sweet! thats clean dude

  • that was a good instructional video :) gotta practice it on someone now

  • i like this variation i learned the judo way its a little smoother but i like the arm lock with the leg

  • jiu jitsu is a japanese martial art used in combat(War). its not all grappling, some of it is but it was designed as a defense in replace of the sword or other weapons. BJJ is a sport, a hybrid of judo, not jui jitsu. They both consist of throws, takedowns, chokes, and joint locks.

  • i train at matt serra's school, and we just did this the other day

  • Thats nice

  • Are you guys idiots or what? Many of you have never even done any of this shit. BJJ is the same shit as Jiu Jitsu. Where do you think the brazilians learned the shit? They modified it. Jiu Jitsu is grappling. Read about the Onin war in Japan idiots. It was designed to defeat Karate. Karate=Peasants Jiu Jitsu=Samurai

  • japanese ju jutsu is much different. gracie jiu jitsu is far superior. remember that helio and carlson changed what they learned.

  • sweet!

  • Genius.

  • wow he looks absolutley thrilled to be getting demonstrated on....lol look at his face on the second demonstration

  • like he's getting a massage or somthin

  • See that comment u just made dimcaomma. Everyone things your a douche bag that doesn't know anything about fighting. So ...you shouldn't make anymore comments like that.

  • anyone else wanna see matt hughes vs matt serra?

  • Haha that blue shirt dude looks bored :P

But anyway, this is really good shit!! Thanks! :D

  • Good shit!

  • Thanks!!

  • dude matt serra is the shit

  • great way to get armbar btw gives a new way to finish from there

  • This Arm bar from back can be make from all back position or only on this position ?

  • Thanks!

  • You would definately be at a disadvantage in a fight if you were to fight someone who does bjj or has more than a few months of grappling experience. Assuming you had no training....

  • your right i dont care wut anyone says!ima pro fighter!

  • yah but if you had sprawled with a Jue Jitsue fighter and you are a striker or grappler..you should have no problem with him..you power will over take him

  • if you think kimbo is good you will also beat no one stay out of my sport you joke

  • You go against a black belt in jiu jitsu or judo and you're not a black belt yourself, then you're fucked.

  • Yeah please refure Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to BJJ unless u meen the japans Jui Jitsu. which isnt grappling, but anyways yeah Judo and BJJ pwn,and you better be some kind of vetren fighter to take down a black belt in those arts

  • Er, why? You must know fuck all then about jiu jitsu.

Japanese Jujitsu is grappling, how is it not?!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be called Jiu Jitsu if I so wish, cause that's what it is. The Flexible Art.

Oh, and Nick Serra sucks at MMA.

  • serras a fucking beast but i thin id rather matt hughes win actually i dont know but hes not to be underestimated like hughes takes him it would be kind of tight to see hughes get knoced out by serra it would certainly put him in his place

  • This would be good if your fast and you failed to get under your opponents neck...(kinda' got a laugh with all the enthusiasm you put into it- but hey, what would a dummy be if he fought back) P.S: try this on your next fight, Matt

  • ITS VERY EFECTIVE NICE ARMBAR!!!!

  • Haha, it would actually be very hard to bust out of that.. He's a blackbelt under Renzo man.. blackbelts in general have excellent control. That's good technique right there...

  • Hahah, whenever I watch the two together, all I can think is, "so that's what Matt would look like with hair." Great video. Really instructional.

  • This is great.

  • Sweet never seen it done that way before Matt Serra has Sick Subs''

    Always has

  • Really nice technique and well taught.

  • first
