Barton is a fraud, a liar, an opportunist and a revisionist. He's been debunked by many true historians, most notably Chris Rodda. The study and interpretation of history should be a subjective endeavor. Barton is a vehement Christian Fundamentalist which carries a strong bias in his version of history. Not unlike a conflict of interests. Please read, research and study on your own.
TouchOfGreatness obviously hasn't read the preamble or declaration of independence among countless other documents mentioning God and Jesus. "In the year of our Lord", for starters.
If "respecting the Christian God: is the first ingredient to good government, then why would the founders create the constitution with purposely leaving out any mention of Christianity, God, or Jesus?
I left out the word "not" after "should" and before "be"...sorry, typing fast.
