Cast Iron Arm - Peanuts Wilson [West Virginia] - 1957 - "Don't MESS with him. Very good punkish attitude. Sax." - Rockin' Bones: 1950s Punk & Rockabilly (Disc 3) (Rhino)-2006.

If you had a cast iron stomach, it would mean you could eat anything, perhaps with a cast iron arm you could beat anything. Now dont go there, son. Y'all know what I'm talkin about!!!

Do Demented are Go have such less talent to compose a great song their selves? The version of DAG is complete rubbish! An insult to music. Sorry Peanuts Wilson...
Dear Mr Egypte, for your information we did compose our own songs. This may come as a somewhat foreign idea, but we used to do this song out of our appreciation of the original. We wanted to play a song that WE liked, but in the WAY we wanted to. Our aim was never to try to recreate note-perfect replicas - what would be the point of that? If you didn't like our version then we achieved our objective- to provoke a response. If you want a replica listen to the Barron Knights
I have this on a 78rpm disc. It used to be worth money until it became a re-release on CD compilations and now it's all over the internet. Great track. never quite sure about the old sounding guy's words though.
Further research seems to indicate this original version of Cast iron Arm was recorded in Clovis, NM. and engineered by Norman Petty. Released c.1958. Wilson was in Orbison's group 'The Teen Kings'. Petty & Orbison co-wrote this along with someone else. Did Orbison also record this, I wonder?
I've read that 'Peanuts Wilson' was livin in Odessa-Midland, Tx area when rock'n. He may have been associated with Roy Orbison during the Teen King days. I'm also a west texan, listen to my songs if you have time! Robin Brown & pop-a-billy music
Cont... When they went into the place where everybody visited his gal there, was "was a cool number, jumped up and made a face for my girl" And said something like " C'mon boy" or later -as the joint was Rockin'and Rollin "I have it in mey head" Its a old grumpy voice. Anyway this is one of my fav. Rock'nroll/Rockabillies ever heard
*It sound like "...me and my gal were falling" Falling, what does it mean in this context.
* they go to a plac called "Joe's". Well, I assume that all you people understand that Joe's spell=Trouble. That was the place Kip/Kit Walker visited icognito when not being suited in that 'phantom' ( okey he had it under the the coat. Is there a chain of "Joes" all around US, like "Olive Gardens?"
...and as extra it's funny too! What the heck is that grumpy voice 'saying' "...havin' in ma head..." Hahaha...This is 1000 times better than anything that El did in the 60s ( and El in the '50s is almost holy ) because this IS REAL '50s ROCKN' ROLL. We went to moon '69 but jest gimme that time machine NOW!!! I wanna be in Louisiana from 1953 and then 'work' up in time and direction to 1962. I want it so badly to be, at least, 1958. Gonna see Eddie, Gene, Buddy, Elvis et al. But I'm fucking...
Aaaaaah...when u hear this you are glad you are still alive. I have a immense huge soft spot for those bad cats that sounded like juvenile deliquents. OMG good!

Erm...What song are you all listening to? The words are clear even with that American Drawl.
"Me and my girl went bowling to a place called Joes".
"A cool number jumped up and made a play for my girl I said, sit down boy"
"The same cool number made the same old move, and I hit him in the head"
A great rockabilly song that stands the test of time and is played at all Rock'n'Roll clubs in the UK.

I've heard several versions of cast iron arm but this has got to be the best, 100% bonafide rock n' roll, a real cool song.
