At his funeral, my cousin played the voice recorder. It was a recording of him playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on mandolin. Of course, everyone including myself was in tears. Ever since then, just hearing the song in my head brings tears to my eyes. The recording you made is beautiful, and I am holding back tears trying to type. Thank you.
My grandfather passed away two months ago. He was originally a tenor banjo player, but due to his health had to switch to mandolin because towards the end of his life he was no longer strong enough to hold a banjo. He had a small voice recorder on which he recorded both myself and him playing. The last few days of his life, my cousin would put the recorder near his ear, and, though unconscious would move his hand as if strumming the chords on a mandolin or banjo.
Most beautiful version I've heard on the mandolin, thanks for sharing. And for those who want tabs just learn from the video he doesn't play that fast :)
I adore this. Also, I've decided in leiu of the lack of tabs, I'm attempting to copy his playing and write the tab for it. I'll let you guys know how this goes!
beautiful rendition - complimenti. blistering technique is difficult to do and sometimes a chore to listen to ... but a good musician, playing a good tune is always a pleasure.
please teach meee!
