  • Mr Jackson convinced the New Zealand Hollywood pandering government to change the laws of the land and provide tax breaks so he and his Hollywood producers could make even more money from his little hobby. No doubt the New Zealand Prime Minister John Key will be first on the VIP list at the Hobbit's premier. NZ hero? Not in my and all free thinking Kiwi's view.

  • Smaug better be HUGE!!!!

  • is he directing it or just producing it?

  • @pensfan2911 It says on Wikipedia that Peter Jackson will be both directing and producing The Hobbit films.

  • Anyone else thinks he looks kinda like Charlie from Lost?

  • /watch?v=gCkWvXqveW0

  • district 9 was stupid, bring on the Hobbit

  • No one is better than Peter Jackson. I agree that he was better when he was chubby but I think he is still a better and much nicer person than any other director.

  • Wow he lost so much weight...I didn't even recognize him!!! I thought he was someone like introducing Peter Jackson, hahahah.

  • Martin Freeman is playing Bilbo for all of those who're interested.

  • He's a class act.

  • He's a class act.

  • fat directors look better :D

  • Well, waiting patiently then :) It'd be heavy to hold the LotR spirit, but success it will be for sure.

  • i thought that he would make a halo movie???

  • I'm sooooooo psyched!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @MOBremember because making a movie based on a book has gone a lot better than making movies based on video games there's no point making a halo movie if its not going to be good

  • @MOBremember you should read the hobbit its really good

  • who is buhuhuschusch?

  • @Marcusjysky Martin Freeman

  • someone should have shut that baby up while their discussing the sacred Hobbit film

  • @myusernameistaken23 What kind of idiot would bring a baby to a event like this?O.o

  • It just got Greenlit, and reports say they start shooting this February! I am highly anticipating Jackson's return to Middle Earth!!!

  • He looks awesome !! :)

  • he looked better fat

  • @darkhorse339

    Yeah...

  • he seemed happier when he was a chubby funster

  • 0:19 is the best part of this whole video.

  • I can't imagine how Jackson will pound his square peg two movie concept into the 1 story 1 movie Hobbit.

I can only imagine they're so arrogant they continue to think they tell a story better than that silly fool Tolkien.

  • WHY ISN'T HE FAT?!! I MISS FAT PETER JACKSON

  • and make it more epic he says, thats too much lols

  • danm i hear a baby

  • @wilhelmscream25 at 2:40? i think i heard it too

  • @Thisismytrollingface Nvm that, the beard compensates. :)

  • @Thisismytrollingface lmao....i was just about to post that......but I agree with you. Peter Jackson to me was fat......lol.

  • @Thisismytrollingface

    Haha is true!

  • @Thisismytrollingface he did!!! i agree

  • @Thisismytrollingface Well, he may be back soon, honestly. PJ looks like he's started to put the weight back on in the last few months. Not a lot mind you, but certainly chubbier now than he is here.

  • @Thisismytrollingface He's actually putting the weight back on, look at the 2nd production video of the hobbit, he's returning to the peter we all know :D

  • @angelofdarkness49 I just saw it and he should stay exactly how he is in that video, he looks really nice and cuddly, but not as fat as he was so yeh :P

  • @Thisismytrollingface when...did...he lose all the weight...xD ur right, it just isnt the same....=/ he needs to put on more weight.

  • So when does it come uout

  • @halohump899

my bets r on mid 2011

  • Peter jackson is my idol he is so AMAZING!!!!!!

  • wahhht ! no i liked him when he actually looked like a hobbit :) dawww hes so awesomely amazing. i cant wait for this, its too far away. :(

  • @monsters0eh Want to do suicide with me?........No more waiting :(

    lol

  • It's got to be Peter Jackson. This would be like having someone other than George Lucas direct a Star Wars film.

  • @Dave54600 actually they asked steven spielberg to direct it first but they wouldnt give him enough money so they let george lucas do it

  • @mekarpass7 I'm not 100 percent on this but as I understand it Star Wars is George Lucas' creation. They didn't give him a story and ask him to direct it. Lucas had a story that was too big and expensive to make. He'd shelved it, and actually wanted to do a remake of Flash Gordon. The studio said no because that was too expensive so he focused on part IV of the Star Wars saga because he figured it was the one he could pull off with the limited resources he had.

  • @mekarpass7

uh... oh god pretty messed up boy arent u?

Star Wars was LUCAS' idea all along, he invented everything about it. he directed the episode IV, but he cudnt do it for V and VI because it wud be alot of work. he tried to get Spielberg to direct it but there was some problem with the directors guild and they forced him to pick another Director. he made it all, he just wasnt on scene everyday supervising things for V and VI

  • @mekarpass7 either way, why are we talking about star wars in something about the Hobbit? God..

  • Paul Greengrass laughs at 0:25

    its exactly the same xD

  • Two films! hip hip Hurray!

  • I pray that Peter Jackson will be directing these movies. It may be somewhat a fortunate thing that Guillermo Del Toro has stepped down as director. Its not that i think hes not suitable, but its best this movie to be as glorious as the Lord of the Rings movies. And whos better to make this true than Peter Jackson. We the fans all support you, and we hope you make the best for this movie just like you did with LOTR!

  • @RulerL0rd I for one certainly hope that Peter Jackson directs The Hobbit and then hires out 2, 3, 4, or 5 subunit directors for the many other scenes that the movie will require. Then Peter can pick and choose the shots and scenes into a more complete movie much like the style of the other 3 movies

  • Peter has lost a lot of weight, and he looks good. Though it is hard to get used to the new look, I am so used to him a little rounder as per the LOTR days!! Phillippa Boyens has also lost weight (see the lovely bones vids) and she looks stunning! Bring on the Hobbit you guys!

  • jackson might direct the hobbit after del toros sudden departure.

  • I have to say Guillermo Del Toro might just be the perfect director for The Hobbit!

  • @srgtmurphy Not anymore :'(

  • i'm SOOOO exited!!!!

and i really love the director too...

only two years... now!!!!! i can't wait!!! ;P

  • Guillermo del Toro is a fucking kick ass director.'¡¡¡ viva mexico cabrones!!

  • i liked him more round :(

  • i WANT him to do the Hobbit, not that other guy! :(

  • @LaudanumDrinker

I disagree. Peter Jackson is still producing it. and Guillermo del Toro directing it.

I can pretty much promis you this will be a block buster. But with a directer that can portray such a sparkly fairy tale film like Pans Labyrnth coupled with Peter Jacksons legendary directing (now producind) this will be one film to look forward to.

  • @moneymayhem2000 yes, after i watched this interview, i checked out several more, and figured out that things are not as bad as i first thought. after i realised that this guy directed Pan's Labyrinth i gave up all my hard fealnings, cuz that is a beautiful movie. :) so i'm satisfied now, but thanks for your comment anyway!

  • @LaudanumDrinker now its neither :(

  • @Moobish what?? noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! why? i'm behind again...

  • @Moobish what?? noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! why? i'm behind again...

  • I miss the hobbitty Peter.....

  • This is probably because of my isolated Canadianess, but does anyone else keep thinking he's saying Christians when he says questions? "I know there's gonna be a lot of Christians about the Hobbit..." What? That can't be right...

  • @KingWilliamI gotta love the kiwi accent... :)

  • yeh he looks healthier and great and amazing

how the hell did he lose all that weight though

but still i really liked him when he was fat lol

something about him made him even more lovelable apart from being one of the best directors of all time

  • i loved him when he was fat he was cute

  • love you peter jakson lord of the ring

  • What would u guys say about Elijah Wood as Link from Legend of Zelda? xDD

  • Go Peter!, Go New Zealand!

  • david tennant would make a good bilbo, hes got the eyes.

  • @gringolazlo I always thought that Elijah Wood should come back and be Bilbo, if they used the right makeup and stuff they could make him look different, but I think that's just because I like Elijah Wood.

  • Holy weight loss!

  • holy jenny craig!

  • somebody murder that baby

  • did he lose weight? or did he gain it later on?

  • he lost tons of weight

  • @mitre9 lol tons

  • A great Kiwi doing us in New Zealand proud!

  • Jackson is so cool

  • Just avoid talking animals and silly little songs.

  • @Istojataachatearme

    HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • PJ managed to avoid those in the trilogy. One of the few positive aspects in his movies. It'll be awful if this turns out like narnia. In the book, even orcs make silly poems and songs, not good.

  • Ok didnt watch the whole thing before he said there was going to be two lol

  • he keeps saying movies, so what theres going to be more than one Hobbit movie,

and the whole tsk thing he does when he starts talking is really annoying

  • very curious about the movie

  • i heard ray william johnson will play as bilbo bagginns xD

  • How exciting!!!! Bring on 2011!

  • He's lost weight :O

  • Stacks of weight

  • Yes indeed. He looks so tired... he's great.

  • @Bendosh Yeah! He looks so much healthier, it's great!

  • @Bendosh I thought it was someone else!!

  • @Bendosh A looooooooooooooooooot :P I was suprised when I saw him on this video compare to his looks in the first LOTR movie

  • @Bendosh Yeah i loved him before , but he looks good

  • does him talking about it, mean his going to direct it??

  • no he wont

  • @punkprincess208

no he is producing the movie, director is guillmo del toro

  • @scihizium That's good news. (; thanks for lettin me know

  • @scihizium That's good news. (; thanks for lettin me know

  • @scihizium That's good news. (; thanks for lettin me know

  • omg i CANT WAIT TO SEE THAT MOVIE :D

  • shoot Jared got nothin on Jackson LOL!!

  • i would not call him a man child, at least not more than scorsese or hitch-(no cock!)

he is quite a director, and many great ones, like riddley scott, were heavily inspired by lord of the rings.

lord of the rings is a breathtaking film-series to me, with no real weakness, except a typical hollywood pathos over it sometimes

  • This man-child won more Oscars than Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Scorsese, and Kubrick put together.

  • so...? Whats an oscar? they dont mean shit...

  • exactly my point.

  • okey doke.

  • lmfao he looks like a hobbit himself.

  • i think the gap between lotr and the hobbit is way to long, the hobbit should have been made in like 2006

  • true, but if you watched the bonus material on how they did the movie...

IMO those guys NEED the break from Middle Earth

Not to mention Jackson intended doing LOTR first anyways...so Hobbit was probably not on their minds AT the moment. They knew they had to do it, but the question is when....

  • kids wuldnt even understand lotr they would rathr read crappy twilight crap.

  • understand what? they need to destroy the ring or sauron will conquer arda or middle-earth idk

  • his books are harder than the bible lol but the movie is easy to understand

  • Tragic isn't it....

  • he's trimmed his beard lol

  • then why the fuck do you care if the hobbit is good or not, your fucking retarded.

  • because its related to lotr so fuck yourself mother.fu.cker

    co..ck smoker!

  • 600MILLION DOLLAT YOU MUTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the idiots invest 600million dollar into the Hobbit 1 and anthor 554million to the 2nd.

  • i never read the hobbit but i hope its similiar to lotr

i want orcs and and an evil lord like morgoth not only a dragon hope the story is not based only on the dragon i want to see some fight like in lotr.

  • @selearemus then read it u fucking idiot

  • u are an idiot i don't want to read a book for kids

in my view jrr tolkien's books are all about power

    war,gods,journeys

  • you're not saying lotr is for kids??? WTF no its not

  • read it. its easier to read than the other books but its not as epic.

  • i have read the original hobbit book twice! its a classic and can't wait for the hobbit movies.

  • Of all the directors, Peter Jackson is the one that I am truly listening to. Many other directors have such a monotone in their voice and they say uhhhmm al the time but Peter speaks like a real director with lots of creativity

  • There are different types of intelligence.

Someone who isn't v. gifted in verbal expression could easily be a stone genius in the visual arts. And for that matter, someone can be a brilliant writer, but not all that eloquent in off-the-cuff speech, esp if they've got social anxiety issues, or even just a bit of shyness.

That said, tho, Mr Jackson definitely does show the power, depth, & sophistication of an analytic process that is definitely part of what makes him a brilliant director.

  • That sounds like me. I'm a writer, but I've got social anxiety issues. Thank you for clarifying that.

  • your grammar make me laugh who cares if u miss a , ' or type with big letters at the beginning

  • and who cares that i forgot " "

  • You know what would be really mind-boggling. Do a mini series of The Simirilion. Every episode ending on each tragic note as the book did. Of course, noone would want to watch them because you always want to see the good guys win, and that wouldn't happen until the last chapter.

  • YES DE HOBBIT FTW

  • that doesn't even look like peter. he really lost weight.

  • I'm a little sad that he lost all that weight, he doesn't look as kind! I miss all that fat :(

  • You look great Peter. I just hope the weight loss was from personal effort and not illness!

  • Even Philippa Boyens, his co-writer on LOTR, loss a lot of weight. I guess they have the time & resources to do the things they've always wanted to do like improve their physical appearance thru a healthy regimen of diet & exercise.

  • He used to be fat =(

  • Wow... he lost ALOT of weight.

  • i cant wait im so exited

  • when peter jackson talks, babies cry

  • I can not wait for the hobbit ....

  • OMFG!!! O: he looks so young now that he's lost al those weight!!! Glad that he'll be the directer for The Hobbit I am looking forward to see it ^__^

  • he's not the director. he's executive producer. director is Guillermo Del Toro

  • ah i see~ still, glad that he is part of the production ^__^

  • And writer.

  • he dont look the same :/

but good for him he lost some weight :D GOOD JOB Peter :P

  • he lost some fuckin weight!!!!!!!

  • i wanna see vincent cassel in the hobbit movie, an leelee sobieski as some one evil also..........do it.....

  • lol

  • i see someone stuck to their nutrisystem diet
