Thank you for the very nice comments and as you mention, you can off course fit the opacity slider to your own taste or mask out the bits you rather not have sharpen :)
I really like this technique, you don't get the artifact that you do with Unsharp mask. My final addition would be if the effect is too strong, try just decreasing the opacity of the high pass layer - or mask it out as you mentioned. I made it into an action to make it very fast.
