There are many laws even in the old testament about taking care of widows and orphans. But I believe Jesus was not a prophet but God robed in flesh to die for our sins, as there is no other way for salvation as drawn out several times in the bible. If it wasn't God on the cross, then we aren't saved, and Muslims don't believe that.

Tifatul should have just nodded his head to greet Michelle or if he wanted to shake hands with her, he could have just use one hand instead of both. What he did wrong is not only he used both of his hand to shakehands, he leaned over her with a broad smile which was very inappropriate. That's a big NO, especially since he claimed himself as a conservative muslim person. He was totally busted! Shame on you Tifatul! What an idiot!

@kathrynsue1986 First off, I am a Christian. Second, you don't understand how the religion treats women. Women are treated freaking amazing under Muslim religion. All income in the household goes to them. All decisions of the household goes to them. They are to be completely taken care of.
It is people who half understand the laws that abuse the other laws to justify their actions. Watch some videos on why women become muslim and educate yourself.

It's not about the handshake, it's about Tifatul being a very fanatic moslem. He reject handshakes from women. There's an occasion (maybe not just once) that he rejected a handshake from a female reporter. The problem here is that people called him a hypocrite for shaking Michelle Obama's hand with great affection.

Mrs. Obama should have been briefed ahead of time to not shake certain conservative muslim men's hands, it's as simple as that. Could he have refused the handshake? yes, but that would have looked bad in our media's eyes. He looked like he wasn't offended by it personally, but I'm sure his followers were. When I'm in middle eastern countries, I observe what other women do or I wait to see if they offer the hand to shake. It just depends on where you are and how conservative that place is.

The position of Aborting female babies in India is a matter of their already over populated starving poverty stricken country due to IGNORANCE and Supersticions. Carl Marx statement about religion being the Opiate of the people was based on HINDUISM.. But it applies to all ISMS..Including Humanism.

@karmakomodia Look, I was raised muslim and raised in the middle east, if anyone knows how stupid some peoples beliefs are towards women that they "justify" using religion, it's me. I know it's stupid, but the fact is when in Rome, do as the Romans do. You have to be respectful when representing a country. Do I think Mrs.Obama was in the wrong? Of course not. She was being polite. Nevertheless, someone should have said "Don't shake their hands, it's not their custom".

@karmakomodia He has the right to meet the president, his wife (no offense to her, she's lovely and I'd love to meet her myself) is probably not the person he wanted to meet. I agree that his lying about it is outrageous, but a good political move to move his ass. I wouldn't shake his hand, just because I don't want to if he's so offended by my wonderful (and apparently super sexy to the point where he couldn't handle himself) womanly skin.
