You are using it to make things smooth, you don't need much in the beginning, you need more when changing the chords and then in the part that sounds a bit like a waltz you need it a lot because it otherwise the left hand part would sound terrible. Send me a message with your email I will make some pedal suggestions for you in the sheet music and take a picture for you.

You could look online to find where the notes actually are, then write each note on a bar on a piece of masking tape and tape it to the corresponding key on the piano. do this for a while and eventually you'll know where each note is
