  • Help stop turtle extinction! these turtles out lasted dinosaurs ... yeah. They have been here for along time. Don't harm them. I'm actually one of the lucky ones because in louisiana i get to see turtles laying eggs about 1 time a year :]. Most people think its gross but really.. It's a wonderful experience to just see something like that =]

  • Wow you really care about animals.Like I do to and i have started a progrm called adotp a pond. And you have to do it.You get to take care of frogs! Please reply.

  • i wish i lived in near the beaches in florida =(

  • ghklafhadfhaghpasghahasghpoecneioyaoihfoiehopiahcvoiuhaeyofpfu

  • i absolutely love turtles and think that they should be protected. because people dont care about them, this goes for all turltes, sea turtles, and freshwater turtles, i see lots of turtles run over where i live and i get so mad, people go out of there way to hit them.

  • Dumbass turtles, there's plenty of uncrowded beaches around.

  • awesome=]

  • I saw these turtles, beautiful animals. It is a verz nice gesture to try and help these animals. If 35 dollars is not much for you, you should definitely helps these creatures...

  • @kkumite 2 years ago $35 wasn't much to me, but in this economy, and me being in real estate, now every penny counts =(

  • Love your video with cool facts. Might do my own. Adult turtles and hatchlings can actually walk into urban towns, guided by lights on hotels and constructions etc. On a project in Cape Verde, we had to drive a huge adult turtle back to the ocean.

  • @snoozeyoulose19 Oh wow. Thankfully we have a LOT of rules regarding lights near the beach during nesting seasons. But they still need a lot of protection.

  • I wantt it :(

    Whats a turtle nest btw??

Ps. I'm a huge fans of turtlees.

  • A turtle nest is where they lay their eggs. Then the babies have to crawl to the ocean.

  • Oic...

  • @xAHLin - Hey, if you want to see exactly what a turtle nest looks like, see my youtube video called Santa Maria Turtle Project 2009, particularly at 1.44 secs.

If turtles nest too close to the high water mark, we relocate them to hatcheries to make sure the eggs don't get washed away by the sea.

Same if they nest too close to vegetation or if we suspect hatchlings will be led astray by city lights.

Also if we see tyre marks where people have been driving, we tend to relocate those too.

  • Quit building, walking, and driving on beaches if you want to save them ! Human overpopulation is causing this !

  • I did a DPA project over sea turtles. I love them and I adopted one.

  • Cool =)

  • That's why they need to put white stakes in the sand dunes where the nests are located.

  • They're roped off in our area.

  • gee, i didn't know there was such a thing as adopting a nest. Thats cool, and it will be good for the sea turts. I'll consider adopting one... will this "scheme" be around in the next few years?

  • I don't consider it a "scheme" when the money goes directly to the local Marine Science Center. And if you're here, your nest gets marked with a tiny flag that bears your name, so anyone walking by will see that you sponsored that nest. If you're in business, this is a great way for people to want to do business with you, because they see that you've done something to help an endangered species.

  • Florida needs toget consistent -shouldnt have cars on the beach at all I would think it would be hard onthe car Saltwater! they put up restrictions and than break them for certain groups like the newage drum circles that goout and break all the rules by beating on drums its against the law to blow off fireworks do to theloud noise and the lite these drum circles attract big crowds at nite create lotsof noise and the differing lites peeps bring to them steping all around the nests not knowing

  • Cars only drive on Daytona Beach. The turtle nests are all south of that, in the no-drive section. And if anyone is caught disturbing the nests, or with lights on during the hatching season, they're find $10,000.

  • Thank you so much for this info! I just posted it on myspace... I feel it is still very important to pass along, even though it's posted in feb of 08. I LOVE TURTLES!!! They can definitely use our help. THANKS BibleGirl7 for posting this!!!

  • This is done every year, so you're safe with the re-posting =)

  • my grandpa gave me sea turtle as a present lol i returned it to the sea

  • OMG! They're a protected species O_O Good for you for sending back to the sea.

  • yea they are endangered it was a hawks bill sea turtle and the fisherman cut it so hopefully the fin recovers :)

  • Oh no! Do they have a hospital for them in your area?

  • I like your lips, LOL.

  • i absolutley LOVE turtles!!!

    they are soooooooooo cute!!!

    =D

  • Turtles are like awesome & stuff! TOTALLY! I am like serious & stuff!

  • LOL. OK. I'm pretty fascinated with most creatures =)

  • i want to own one

    where can i get one??

  • hmm.. nothing jumped out at me yet. =P

    im gonna look again =D

  • Nothing's going to jump out. But I understand the apprehension! Those e-mails have gotten me enough times. Yikes.

  • You are very sweet to care so much about the turtles. I needed to see this after the video I just saw. Stupid guy almost kills a young sea turtle! Tell him what he did wrong will you?

  • I dont think its posting the link but its titled dave with sea turtle

  • Huh? What link?

  • talking about something serious..

with a voice like that :-)

    but its a good couse

    ;-) good job

  • adopting another `1 this year!!

  • Awesome!

  • i have 2 mississippi map turtles from a rescue center in switzerland and uh im just asking if thats illegal because alot of people own turtles

  • I don't know what kinds those are. You'd have to see if they're on the endangered species list.

  • turtles are awsome and amazing!

  • I agree =)

  • m i want a turtle too !!!!!!!!

  • Weell, you can't actually "have" one since they're an endangered species, but you can "adopt" a nest, and watch the babies hatch.

  • This great! Scuba diver girls love sea turtles. can you send me the info on how to adopt? :)

  • There's a link in the description box, beside the video. Just follow that link =)

  • thank you SO much for posting this!

    It truly made my day!

This is so neat! and its such a beautiful thing!

I'm gunna send you a message! be looking for it!! :D

GodBless! (hope your sea turtle nest is doin GREAT!!!)

  • Thanks. And instead of adopting a nest, I volunteered and spent some time at the animal hospital. Money is tight right now, but my time has some flexibility. So that's the route I took =)

  • True

  • I love Sea Turtles!(Fav. Animal) Thnx biblegirl7!

  • They're so cool! =D

  • I WANT A TURTLE! YAAAAY!

  • I love sea turtle soup mmm mmm good

  • They're an endangered species. Good job on placing this comment on a public web site that has the ability to access your IP Address.

  • youve just been hacked.

  • You've just been reported.

  • that is so damn awsome MAN

  • I thought so too =)

  • This video should get featured. People need to respect animals and nature before it's too late.

  • True. But people are too wrapped up in themselves =(

  • i just saw the green skirt

    :D nice one

  • LOL

  • I CAN C THAT GINGER (NO SUN)

  • This is a great idea. My parents live in St. Augustine FL and you can drive on the beach there also.

  • You can? I'm in St. Augustine a lot, but the way the road curves, I don't think I've even seen the ocean. Or maybe it's because I'm so used to living by one that I haven't even thought about it. But I like to go wander around St. George Street, I've been to the fort, I go to the Coach store in the outlet mall on the west side of I-95 all the time! And my daughter and I like to go to Pizza Alley. We also like The Dixie Cab Company =D

  • Sea turtles rule!! What an irritating women!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. I just got five of my friends at FSU to do this.

  • That is awesome! Now is the nesting season, so they can actually see their personally adopted nest =)

  • are taxes are not paying? haha

  • Yeah right. As usual, the politicians keep all the money and nothing gets done =I

  • I would so do this but i live in the northorn states...not along the coastline....i love turtles

  • You could still adopt a nest. You just wouldn't be able to personally watch it =(

  • I like it. I live in NC we have alot of sea turtles but we cant adoupt a nest. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

  • Cool! We're now in the mating season. Now is when we have to be the most careful.

  • I love turtles I wish I could see one I only see them at aquarium and sometimes in a forest

  • Just move to Florida. You'll see all kinds of critters, all over the place ;)

  • turtles are awsome

  • Why not advocate against vehicles coming onto to the beach? I also believe that sea turtles are among my favorite creatures. They are truly graceful.

  • People have to pay to drive on the beaches here. The county can't afford to keep the beaches clean, or even maintain the video cameras that protect the sea turtle nests from people who think it's fun to poke the nests with sticks, if not for the income from the vehicle parking passes.

  • turles are amazing

  • I agree. They're really cool =)

  • I SAVED A TURTAL

  • Good! =D I've moved several of them out of the road. I'll stop my car and block all the traffic, then pick them up and carry them toward the lakes and ponds by the road. The soft-shell kind are really funny too. They stick their heads way out to see where we're going. LOL

  • i need to save this turtles they are my favorite animal.i need them to live or i will never own one.

  • I was in one of my client's houses last week, and he had a pet turtle they had bought when it was tiny. You know; the ones in the pet stores? Well, it's now 2 feet long and they've had it for 39 years!!! Holy crap!

  • Ahh-hahhh! I found the mistake :) Were you wearing any bottoms, Miss. Christian? Just kidding, I'm all for freedom, but the power of God.

Anyways, I find all of your videos inspriational! When I do my Youtube Idiols video, I'll totally add you!

  • (Ssshhh!) My skirt was laying on the couch behind me O_o

And the answer video is on my other channel =)

And I really don't think God is as stuffy as some people think He is =D

  • your so adorable :]

i cant find the mistake :[

  • LOL. It was my skirt, laying on the couch behind me O.o Oops!

  • i would have never noticed that in the backround lol

  • It was right behind me, but I overlooked it too O.o

  • Turtle mania!

    Poor turtles...

  • They're cool =)

  • nice video thanks for sharing i love all animals five stars.

  • Thanks. They're such incredible creatures. And this is an easy way to help =)

  • Good luck with your initiative.

  • Thanks =)

  • FYI.. Even though it's tax season, you would have to wait until next year to claim the deduction assuming you made it in '08.

  • D'oh! Oh well. The nesting season doesn't really start for a few more months anyway =)

  • I will :)

  • I live in orlando, and I adore seaturtles. mabey i should adoupt one... <3 turles

  • Definitely! =D

  • babysitting sea turtles sounds cute

  • I'm gonna have a little babysitting party when they start laying their eggs =D

  • Sea Turtle Soup Yum :P

  • Nooooo. BAD BrahSumatra!

  • Sure will, thanks!

  • <:o)

  • I used to live in the Orlando area, and that's where I'm headed right now. Florida is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful states our country has to offer. I haven't been up yonder yet, but I plan on visitin' Daytona beach as soon as I get a chance, looks nice. I don't know about the whole mistake thing, I've had a few beers and I have no idea of what's going on. My comment might seem like I'm totally sober, but the backspace key was required several times. Lol, see ya later, Biblegirl.

  • LOL. Have fun in Orlando.

  • I can't see it!

  • What? You mean the whole video or are you looking for the mistake?

  • The mistake!

  • LOL. I just watched your video about not being able to see entire videos so I wasn't sure.

  • Wow, Hilda's a big girl!!

They don't allow people to drive on the beach here, at least that I'm aware of.

  • Hilda can weigh up to 1200 pounds!

  • it's funny-i got so caught up in the sea turtle story that i forgot what i came to do--find the mistakes!!! :)

  • Good! They're fascinating creatures =)

  • What a great video! =)

  • Thanks!

  • my guess is you got one part of your outfit on and the other is on the Couch Behind You..LOL..?

  • I have always liked you and with this video I like you even more. The sea turtles are my 2nd passion after wolves. At Padre Island, in Texas, I got to see release of babies and like you said, we could not wear white (equating to light) or it would turn them the wrong way. I would LOVE to sit down with you and talk about this, I'm getting all excited now.

  • There's a "feen" to do so?

  • you really have that grape candle hidden...mikma was here

  • You need to adopt a turtle nest :)

  • That's cool I will have to tell my Dad about that too just in case he does not know already. He is in Daytona too. When I visited him a couple years ago I learned about the lights being turned off for the turtles. Pretty neat.

  • I thought this was just the coolest idea. I'm going to adopt my own nest in a couple of weeks. The nesting season doesn't start for a few more months, so there's plenty of time.

  • auhg! I don't know what the mistake in here is! :(

great video though. Thanks for posting.

  • If you listen to my words, I pretty much gave it away. But maybe it's not as obvious as I thought it was. Somebody who's anal retentive is going to notice. =P

  • this is cool i am gonna do it

  • Yaaaaayyyy!

  • VERY COOL!

    Some fun (twisted) suggestions:

    1. Take videos of the cars that get stuck in the rising tide.. and share on youtube!

    2. Comforting thought: the rich guys that own property on the ocean front obviously don't believe in global warming and sea level rise! They'll find out! hahahaha! (OK. not so funny for most of Florida!)

  • OK Mr. Twisted. 1) I don't have access to the video footage =( and cars are not allowed on the beach at night so I can't get my own. 2) The houses all have sea walls in the driving section. The houses in the no-drive section don't need sea walls because the natural dunes are still there.

Sobering fact: after the hurricanes in 04, New Smyrna Beach-1 town further south than Ponce Inlet, lost so much of their beaches to erosion that there's no room to even walk there anymore!

  • Sounds like an awesome program! I live in Tampa, so that's something that would be pretty neat to be a part of.

  • I thought it was a good idea. How often do we get to be that closely involved in something? =)

  • Here, I'll add a comment to your total number of comments, but sorry I'm not commenting on this one. rofl

  • You're so silly! lol

  • so if you save the turtles, who is goin to save the whales, the dolphins and the coral ???

  • I can't save everything =(

  • YES WE CAN...hehehe =)

  • Well then, I'll be watching the list for your name :P Rikk's gonna help save the sea turtles! =D

  • ill be there and bring all my motorcycle club too...They always love a good party...

  • Actually the best way to protect the turtles is if you people are banned from the beaches all together. You are selfishly intruding on their habitat.

  • i agree, if they would stop from lettng them park on the beach it self that would be a great start..then just not letting them get on the beach as they are hatched and on there way back to the sea...

  • Hey R. See my comment to Frankly.

  • Well, actually there are no-drive sections of the beach. Those sections have been banned because that's where the turtles have chosen their primary sites. AND there are now hidden cameras set up to catch anyone who goes near a nest. The locals aren't the ones causing the problems. It's the tourists. But the get caught by the cameras.

  • Well thats good then...

    Rikk

  • "You people" LOL! What the hell are you? A turtle?

  • Someone probably ran over his nest ;)

  • we are turtle savers...thats who...We The People who want to save the turtles...

  • Driving and parking on the beach-- bad idea

    adopting turtle nest-- GREAT IDEA!!!

  • Actually the driving and parking is OK as long as people abide by the rule. And if they don't, there are hidden cameras. They WILL get a huge fine. And there are no-drive zones. Those are where the turtles put most of their nests =)

  • Well, to be more detailed, driving and parking on the beach is a "bad" idea because of the oil and other fluid leaks, which can fowl the eco system IMHO.

  • Pretty cool. I once saw seat turtles actually digging and laying in Costa Rica. VERY cool.

    Nice informative serious vlog, Lisa!

    V

  • I want to see one! I think I'm going to adopt a nest and go baby sit it =)

  • P.S. More booty dancing.

  • You're a naughty boy! Now take your pet haters and go back to your little corner.

Oh! And send me some bloopers or outtakes! Please?

  • That's an awesome idea, the turtles are so pretty! And just so you know, where I live, (in the summer... when it's nice) our beach is an attraction for visitors... and I'm not a sun person either... pale as a ghost... my parents however are sun worshipers - always on the beach... I don't plan to die from skin cancer thank you very much! Great video!!!! :-D

  • I feel the same way about the sun and skin cancer. People don't realize that just having a tan means you've damaged your skin. Plus it causes premature aging.

  • My Aunt was 48 when she lost her battle to cancer which originated from a mole on her back which was malignant, (sp?) evolved into a brain tumor, and sucked the life out of her. It was a painful downhill road with her... But if nothing else, I learned how serious that kind of stuff is, and how fragile life is... Too bad my parents still bake themselves...I do believe that most of their damage was done in their youth years. Oh - and premature ageing is ICKY!!!!!!! :-P

  • It's unbelievable how many people I know who have already had pre-cancerous spots removed, yet they still bake themselves. It's only a matter of time.

  • An excellent excuse for me when people complain about me staying in my room all day, thanks very much!

  • That's a pretty cool idea, I like the isea of adopting a specific nest. =D

  • I know! And you get a Tshirt and bumper sticker, and a report on the status of your nest. =D

  • hilda big...SAVE THE SEA TURTLES!! :D

  • Hilda is huge!

  • yea kinda scary

  • In one of the side links, it says they can grow to weigh over 1500 pounds! Yikes!

  • i like turtles!!

  • And frogs!

  • yeah those too

  • That was great. Why people would be allowed to drive on the beach to begin with is way beyond me.

  • Well, back in the 50s, the beach was part of the race track. This is the home of NASCAR. The used to run the circle down A1A around to the beach, then back onto A1A.

  • lol, I know this is serious, but I had an image of people building porches in front of the nests, installing themselves with banjo, rocking chair and shot gun and shouting out to the taurists 'get offa my nest!'

  • LOL!! A true image of the 60s. Only you or John would imagine that one.

  • very funny........interesting imagination

  • well done.....much needed talk

  • Thanks =)
