This music takes me back to the 80's and I miss it so much. The 80's was such a special time for me.The music was great and girls looked like girls especially in their Jordache jeans. It was an amazing time.
Night Ranger is still one of the few 80s rocker bands I can still stand listening to. When I went to college in my early 30s, I had to listen to some brats in the cafeteria making fun of them. I pissed me off! This is a great song, and one of my favorites from Midnight Madness, but their best album has to be Man in Motion. It has the right everything going on.
Nice to see how pretty the girls were back then.. not ghetto hoes that we have now... well that speaks for the difference in music of today and yesterday doesn't it.
The worst 4 words that some one can say about great music that is timelss is...."That is so yesterday' you either get it or you dont. Most young people have sold out and its very upsetting.
@Macrijs71 Why? This generation has the Internet. Growing up in the 80's meant you just had 80's music. Now the Internet lets people listen to music from any generation they want to, while still being open-minded enough to find new bands that are good, instead of living in a fantasy world where good music magically stopped existing after 2000.
wow i miss this kinda music this song brings back so many memories i was 17 years old when this came out what the hell happened to music like this music today sucks bad i miss the 80`s bad i tell ppl sometimes if u were born in the 80`s u missed it meaning they missed all of the great music and just straight up fun i wish i can turn the clock back
brings me back to the days when i was in my recreational room listening to this on my record player just cleaning up after my rock session of lifting weights during the eighties being a member of the columbia record club.
This is most certainly my favorite song from Night Ranger! What a totally awesome song! When I listen to this song now it feels so different from being a teen. I can feel the pain in this song and can relate to every lyric. I do think about alot of lost loves, alot of my best friends, and I think about all the awesome times we had back then. All the crazy and fun times and I do dream about it all and how I miss it all so much! What a time that was then! The best of times for sure! :-) ♥
@thetrophyone Thanks so much for such a kind comment. I just write how I feel when I listen to a song and let the memories and feelings just flow. It is awesome that you really love the 80's! I raised my daughter on the 80's and now my grandson has become quite the 80's fan too so I feel that I have done my job on this earth now! :-P Thanks again my friend! :-)
@thecarebearhideaway Hey, no problem. What I think I miss the most is the cartoons on Saturday Mornings and on almost every channel in the afternoon. Also, Nickelodeon had it's best kids' shows on in the 80's with "Mr. Wizard," "Eureka's Castle," etc. Lastly, from watching movies, tv shows, music videos, seeing old photos of relatives from the 80's, etc... I miss the nice clothing from then, too. I remember wearing similar stuff as a youngster in the EARLY 90's.
@thetrophyone Oh yeah! Me too friend! I loved waking up to Saturday Morning cartoons. The classics like Looney Tunes and Yogi Bear and stuff and then after school cartoons and programs too. Hey do you remember when they would play those educational teen movies after school? I cant remember the name of that show but I looked forward to them along with like Gilligan's Island and stuff! :-) I know what you mean about reminiscing too on everything 80's. The clothes did rock for sure!
@thetrophyone Dude, Honk Kong Phooey was pretty much my hero, and Sigmond and the Sea Monsters, Grape Ape, Scooby Doo (not Scrappy Doo, he's a chumpstick)... And watchin Get Smart after school, then Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Speed Racer, watching the previews for cartoons, Gillighan's Island, and Three Stooges, 6 Million Dollar Man, The A Team, Friday Night Videos, MTV, Monday Night Football, John Hughes Movies... It was all so fun!
I was a senior in 1984, remember those days well, still. Sadly, Nightranger totally LOST IT after this album...got into this freaky 'like X-Files' weird accoustic, emo, lost in the world sad crap...didn't even SOUND the same...
@MountainDweller67 WTF are you talking about? Emo, lost in the world. Try Secret of My Success and Man in Motion and tell me they are not the best band of the 80's.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@chtdukefan2364 They may be very good, but look at what they were pushing out, hair power pop metal, garbage. Its hard to respect this generic brand of music,
Very first concert I ever went to in High School back in the 80's and have seen them many times since,Met Kelly Keagy and Brad Gillis at a club in Mpls, Minnesota called the Mirage, where they played, Nice guys!!
I'm ashamed to say I missed the legendary Brad Gillis when he came through EPCOT with the reszt of the band a few months ago. That would have made it worth the price to see him. His connections to Ozzy were obvious.
@randyana lol so many hipster tools in YT vids for older music. Guess what? Try looking for music in places other than mainstream radio stations. You might be surprised.
The problem isn't that music sucks now, it's that dipshits like you think good bands should just fall in their laps. You only THINK music used to be better because you already know about these bands and don't try finding any new ones. Stop being such a hipster tool, it's an embarrassment.
Night Ranger isn't really a hair band. They were around before that craze hit. They had long hair, but that doesn't make them a hair bad. They were not "glam" metal. Probably the first hair band was Motley Crue. Then you had Poison, Cinderella, Ratt, Warrant, White Lion, Firehouse, Winger, Def Leopard, etc. Night Ranger was more in the era of Quiet Riot and Loverboy, etc. I agree with the previous poster, hair bands should be considered from about 85-92.
@b1naryd1g1t5 I generally agree with your comment about "hair bands" with one notable exception: Def Leppard. They formed in '78, debut album in '80 and released one of the most influential 80's rock albums in '83: Pyromania. That album was basically the template for 80's rock (not metal) that came after it: heavy, but melodic. I know they went on to become much more pop, but it's unfortunate they get labeled a "hair band" along with the likes of Poison, Firehouse, Winger, etc.
Yes that is the drummer singing most of the song. Jack doesn't come in until the chorus. Drummer also sings Sister Christian. He and Jack can both sing.
this may sound silly, but i'm not used to seeing the drummer doing lead vocals... usually i see the lead guitarist singing... nice to try something different...
Living in Lakewood,Ny in the early 80's....working at the mall...busting my butt all day and I couldn't wait to go out at night with my boyfriend and his cool car ! Then I ran off with a Chipendale dancer...but that is another story ! Fun times !!!!
She goes from being sister Christian to cleaning up after a bunch of kids and a monkey in the span of two videos! Let that be a lesson to all you young girls what too much motoring will do for you. Also when your brother passes you off to his bass player, don't mess that up.

I went to see them in Tampa, FL two weeks ago with Journey and Foreigner. I only caught their last song due to being late…
I am headed to Vegas this week and I won’t be late. They are playing out there on Saturday at MGM. This is my Favorite Song. I was in 10th Grade when this song came out and it’s the song that was perfect for me. The line of the song that stands out “ I remember we learned about love In the back of a Chevrolet. Well it felt so good to be young Feels like yesterday" Awesome!
@MikebRefingBasketbal LUCKY DUCK YOU! Too see them AND Journey and Foreigner! How Cool is that! Being late sucks! lol But I Wish I could see all of 'em together! I've seen all of 'em but like you I was in about 10th grade when they became popular.
Drummers always look cool when they sing while they're beating the kit...but the coolest singing drummer ever was Jimmy Marinos from the Romantics...check out the vid for What I Like About You, if you don't believe me....
Isn't it cool to see a rock group play their instruments and they're arms aren't sleeved with tattooes? Nothing against tattoes, per se....just saying....
I wonder if the Chevrolet she learned about love in the back of was borrowed by Bon Jovi so that his girl could lose the keys and more than that in his backseat....baby....
The term hair band covers a lot of territory. Ultimately, I would definitely put them in that category, but yeah, they are more similar to Journey than Motley Crue. Thing is, Night Ranger's biggest moments came in 1983 and 1984, when bands like Journey, Styx and Foreigner were on the wane (although Foreigner's biggest album came in '85), and the metal bands were ascending. By '86, it was all Poison, Crue, Cinderella, Ratt, etc. The years of 83 and 84 were when it really started to change.
@bus25ter i think there's a difference between hair bands/hair metal and glam metal. Hair metal were the guys that rocked it like scorpions, def lep, ratt.. etc. Glam was like poison, pretty boy floyd, winger, warrant.. etc. (the guys that wore all the makeup) people don't really see a difference anymore. some bands like as you said iron maiden, metallica, megadeth, anthrax were hairy but they were just METAL. they had their own category. (kinda thrashy)
I absolutely love this band, it was my first concert ever................I think I was in 7th or 8th grade. Kelly Keagy went to my school, his mom was our lunch lady!! I still have the auto graphed T-Shirt!!
@audiv8q so lucky my only memory of these guys is when i was about 5 years old going to the beach all the time and my dad would play the cassette im 22 now and just recently bought the cassette on ebay :P
I,ve just seen these guys open up for Journey n they were so great,I,ve never seen thm before ,they truly didn,t dissapoint, especially since it was a sold out show
this is a little different than the version on "The Greatest Hits" album.. not much.. and only those who know this song well will see the differences haha

I always thought Jack Blades sang this song.I knew Kelly sang sister christian, but i didn't know he sang this one also.
sammys70 5 months ago
@sammys70 Actually both Jack and Kelly sing lead on this song. It's Jack singing at the begining then it's Kelly singing second.

Nothing against tattoes, per se....just saying....
decristo1021 5 months ago 2

The years of 83 and 84 were when it really started to change.
decristo1021 5 months ago
Would anybody call night ranger a hairband? they are great but i dont think they have the right sound.
michael17415 5 months ago
@michael17415 They kinda remind me of Journey
stegbar11 5 months ago
@stegbar11 Yeah Exactlly! Great music just not heavy (or dirty) enough to be a hair band.
michael17415 5 months ago
@michael17415 I wouldn't...actually I hate the term "hairband"..I mean Iron Maiden had long hair but I wouldn't call them a "hairband"
bus25ter 5 months ago
@bus25ter i think there's a difference between hair bands/hair metal and glam metal. Hair metal were the guys that rocked it like scorpions, def lep, ratt.. etc. Glam was like poison, pretty boy floyd, winger, warrant.. etc. (the guys that wore all the makeup) people don't really see a difference anymore. some bands like as you said iron maiden, metallica, megadeth, anthrax were hairy but they were just METAL. they had their own category. (kinda thrashy)

Bet this is something common to millions wondering about one's past lovers and friends...
still if you are lucky, its only only idle curiosity and your happiness prevents it from being a desperate search

Given what we're being forced to listen to these days, were there any bad bands during the 1980's? Everything sounds phenomenal to me.
