  • It's a marshall 1936 cab?

  • Would this amp do well in getting metallica sounds like from kill em all or and justice for all?

  • a 2007 Marshall MG 100HDFX sounds much better than the DSL100.

    i use a 2007 Marshall MG 100HDFX Half stack along side a 1982 Marshall

JCM800 Halfstack its a perfect combination and i would not have it any other

    way!

  • @stratdem MG are fucking terrible.

  • What tubes are you using in there? Stock? What is your volume in this video?

  • please. more volume.

  • what were your settings for this demo? thanks :)

  • can you use a vintage modern 2466 cab with this head?

  • is this amp good for a show or even a concert?

    how loud is it?

  • Do you need some kind of a noise supressor with this amp ?Does it produce any hums when you have the gain on too high?

  • Your mic was very close to your guitar. I can hear the clicking picking. I have the DSL50 of this amp and I love it.

  • I have a JCM 800. Its a great amp, sounds brutal, but its gotta be cranked to get that sound, and this seems a tad more versatile while being able to achieve that JCM 800 sound. Any thoughts?>

  • @theShowStopper321 I just recently traded in my 83' 800 for one of these, definatly a good choice

  • canon ROCK =)

  • hey man, i have this amp... jcm 2000 dsl... .... ... but, I'm not sure how to plug it in... in the back, or what it all means.. on the cab there is 2 inputs a 4 and 16 0hm.. which one do I plug into? I'm not using a stereo cord so the switch is on mono.... on the head there are 3 outputs... 16, 4 & 8 0hm jacks..... and also a 4/8 0hm switch.... which jack and switch do I use??

please help... I dont want to blow it up lol

    thanx.

  • if it is not the device give it more bite please - rock the house...

  • sounds fucking low

  • does this amp has lots of gain ? :d xD

  • @lastangelsofrock Yes, if you know how to get it out of it. I've got no prob get Slayer tones out of mine..

  • can u plz tell me how do it thanks

  • First thing you gotta do is get either a MXR EQ or a BBE Sonic Stomp in your FX loop. 2nd get a set of Tung-Sol preamp tubes. They'll deff help you get more gain. Or put some NOS Telefunkin in V2 and V3. 3rd is get a set of Electro Harmonix 6CA7 power tubes to tighten up the fuzziness. That will run you about 250 bucks if you know how to bias the power tubes. Preamp tubes are self-baising. Or get a THD HotPlate or the cheap route - Ibanez Tube King kicks freakin ass through a DSL!

  • @lastangelsofrock Yeah it has a lot of gain on its own. But if you ever need more, you can easily throw a Tube Screamer or OverDrive pedal in front of it and this baby SCREAMS!

  • DSL 100 + ebay = $500

  • that song=gay

  • Comment removed

  • how much would only the head cost?

  • 1200

  • Is this a good metal amp then

  • i really like the sound of the marshall dsl100 vs. gibson les paul... and i like you're playing;-)

    well done!

above all you didn't use a delay, that's very good;-)

  • Is this amp good for that Swedish Death Metal sound? ie Scar Symmetry, Miseration, In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility, The Few Against Many ect...

    From the AMPS distortion

  • Well... I'm not sure, but I think you'll have to look at ENGL, Mesa or something heavier.

Although Matt Heafy from Trivium is using one, so it's not that far away.

Second thought, I think this amp can be used to almost anything. :)

  • ENGL is like 999999999 trillion dollars...Mesa is 5555555 trillion...

I can't afford an ENGL or a Mesa, even though they're both GREAT amps

I'm probably gonna end up getting a Peavey 6505+ aka "the Poor Man's Mesa"

I just that I have no job...other than that...I'd DEFINATELY save up get an ENGL

  • Yeah, ENGL and Mesa are expensive. I'm also planning on buying this, the DSL or the JCM 800 because their competitors are so expensive.

  • What type of tone are YOU looking for?

  • Well, I'm looking for a nice Metal tone, of course.

If I'm going to be more specific, I would say a bit Trivium- and Metallica-ish.

  • Then a Marshall's perfect for that!!

Just turn the Bass all the way up, The Mids all the way DOWN, and Treble all the way up

And of course the Gain MUST be cranked

  • @The7thL

    Lmao, jerk

  • matt used it in ascendancy and touring nowadays he's using a JVM210H

  • im looking to get a real nice powerful distortion/overdrive from a marshall to get the early Van Halen sound. I dont really want to buy the 5150's because there too darn expensive :P would you recommend this amp? and if not this one what other marshall amp would be best for the early Van Halen sound. thanks very much

  • The 5150's and 6505's are going for way less than this amp on Ebay. If you really want early Van Halen go for the 1987x anyways.

  • how would you rate this amp for its old crunch sound, as in like guns n roses and led zeppelin? and how is its clean channel?

  • for those sounds i think a jcm800 or the Vintage Modern is better, the 2000 has a darker and slightly more modern sound. Cleans are pretty decent tho, it's no Fender, but better than previous marshalls.

  • i have this amp and and yes its a very good amp for Stuff like that. I never played an jcm 800 but i think its a killer amp too. But this one is easyer to handle because you have 2 channels not 1. Vintage Modern is also a realy cool Amp

  • CANON ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey wat are your settings for treble mid bass and drive/gain

  • Hey just wanted to konw what Marshall 2x12" are u using?

  • it's a Marshall 1936 from the JCM900, it's got the gt12-75 speakers, but i'd rather have at least one of them changed to a v30

  • i paid my marshall 3500!!!!!!

but it is not one like that...

  • hey man, sorry for my ortographic errors, i don't speak english but................. what is the price of marshall dsl 100.......... please answer my question thanks

  • i don't think they're made anymore, it was 1600$ CDN new, way overpriced, i got mine for 850$, including a modified transformer from mercury magnetics

  • @dualstagef1 I just got mine about a month ago for $699 CDN, very nice deal, awesome amp.

  • @dualstagef1

What's up with the Mercury Magnetics Mod? Could you please explain in a little detail, and let me know about what it costs?

  • is that all the gain this amp can get?

  • no, this was with gain around 8 on the Lead1 setting, you can push a button to engage Lead2 with has even more gain

  • ahhh NICE :D

  • Can you get modern tones out of this bad boy? I'm talking like Fall of Troy, Protest the Hero tones?

  • does that amp go to 11?

  • lol no, but lets just say it's pretty damned loud

  • how would you get metallica tone from this

  • Early metallica? Put Mid on 4, Bass on 6 and treble on 8.5

  • what would be a good pedal to boost the gain like early metallica sound

  • I don't know a lot about the pedals they used. If they used any. :D Get a Mesa boogie Mark III head, and you'll get close to their sound. Or get a Marshall DSL or TSL. And play a bit with the sounding of the amp.

  • an older RAT would work perfectly. the new ones suck from what I hear. if nothing else, though, use a Digitech Grunge.

  • Early metallica....Mid 0 Bass 10 treble 10 !!!!

  • I dont think it was that extreme lol. Maybe Bass 8 Mid 2 Treble 8

  • lol y does everyone play canon rock its a good song but u heer it all the time on youtube love the amp, nice playing those dude!

  • PLEASE REPLY!

When i buy DSL 100 halfstack is the cabinet JCM 2000? or is the head calld '' JCM 2000 DSL 100''?

    Thx!

  • "Halfstack" means that it comes with a 4x12 cabinet, JCM2000 DSL100 is the full name of the head

  • does it have a footpedal jack?

  • yes

  • awesome amp , nice tunes (:

  • CANON ROCK

  • nice vid. how does it sound at medium volume levels (low enough to not have my neighbors out for my blood).

  • I've spent quite a while on listening to the characteristics of power amp saturation, which is what you're referring to... Because I have an isolation cabinet, which lets me crank my amp up very high without annoying people...

If you want recording tone, you're gonna have to take it up to at least 4... now 4 is gonna piss a lot of people off unless you have some sort of attenuation... you could buy a THD Hot Plate for attenuation which is like having a class A amp.

  • boosterguild do wot i do... two 2x12 cab's 150w each 1 either side of the stage it spreads your sound no end.... really like no bulls*^% you'll kick ass

  • Hello everybody!!!I'm gonna buy this amp so i need your advice what cabinet should i buy...i was thinking of buying 2x12 cause it's enough for my gigs cause i play in clubs...so tell me what do you think about it?

  • dude, dont eff around. If youre gonna do it, do it right. Get the 1960a

  • tube>?

  • I have that same cab, and actually I'm looking forward to get the DSL, so this demo is the perfect match, thanks

  • You should not use that cab because you need a 4x12 cab. It could blow your amp up. lol

  • this guy obviously doesnt have a clue because the 1936 2x12 is 150 or 120 watts cant quite remember MUPPET!

  • hey sounds good hows the Cab is there a big diffrence then the 4x12

  • could you recomend any hard rock settings for the amp?

  • keep the treble and presence low, boost mids and bass, dime the gain. That's the basic setting in the video.

  • That's more of a classic rock setting, but it DOES sound good.

I've got my mids set around 5 and my treble's pretty high.

Best I can do until I get an EQ to dip the mids without taking the tone from the amp...

  • Yea, Marshall's are basically made for the classic rock sound, the DSL just has more gain with deep/tone shift etc. I would try to trade for a Mesa if you're into the thick scooped mids sound.

  • Good advice, yes, but I know I can achieve the sound I want with a DSL100.

Take a look at Trivium. Matt Heafy uses the Marshall DSL100 exclusively and he has some of the beefiest/crunchiest tone out there. He runs them straight into EQ's and that's it.

  • Don't go with Mesa. I've owned 2 early 90's dual recitifiers and I can't get the same teethy chug I get with my Marshall. Mesa is way overrated.

  • what do you mean?...

  • yh but thats all based on ur own preference. it all depends on what ur going for. if u want a tight high gain low end metal tone then a mesa is one of the top dogs but if ur wanting a classic tone ur gona need something like a vox ac30, jcm 800, plexi or fender delux etc. for 80's maybe a 5150 or something. no amp can be universily rated its all dependant on style and whether u do ur research before buying one.

  • I can always get the super chug-a-lug on my Marshall. The Mesa's I owned were too harsh sounding and I can get a WAY heavier tone on a Marshall DSL then on a Mesa.

  • cool i like the dsl's too im planin on gettin one with an orange 2x12 but ive been looking at the peavey xxx because ther r much tighter for the style my band does. dsl's r more versitile and the clean wipes the floor with the xxx but the xxx is better for metal. but.. like i say its all preference. i wouldnt tell someone to not get a mesa because them may spend a lot of money on a dsl that doesnt sound the way they want. plus the harshness can make riffs more punchy especially in modern music.

  • How do you get that teethy chug, I find my dsl 100 just doesnt have a tight sound so have been thinking of getting a dual rec

  • You can change the tone a lot with the types of tubes you put in. For example if you want a tight bass response try the JJ EL34's. If you want more mids, try the Svetlana's. Both have their downsides though. I'm trying to scrape up enough money to get a set of Winged C's, those should be perfectly balanced.

  • no, a greater sound is: treble 8/9, mid 4/5, bass 6/7.

    :D

  • Treble 5-6, bass 6, mid 2-3, presence up to 5.

ultra gain channel. thats the best hard rock and heavy metal sound on most of the amps.
