  • to be honest that CERT Does not Serve anything with the actual time Get Ciscooooo and networking stuff it is more valuable

  • Has anyone taken the test recently? I wanted some input regarding whether it was easy or hard and if the question on the test were worded the similar to the ones in the CompTIA A+ certification book/study CD. Thanks

  • go to amazon and get a book called A+ exam cram.it's only like 32 dollars I used exam cram for all my comptia tests. as far as I remember there is only one question on binary conversion and that's for network plus.

  • dude these exams are easy, I got A +, network plus and security plus and I am only on my first year of college, just memorize all you can.

  • I hope spelling is not part of the test. lol (Look the the title to this video for anyone who did not get this). Good luck anyway bud. :)

  • am going to take the test next month

  • a tech suggested i go and buy A+ and network for dummies first read the book study it take the test at the end of the book and if i do well enough on it to go ahead and take the real thing. what do you guys think? the book is like 40 bucks not to bad

  • while that is a good recommendation I would be sure about what you need to know when you take the real exam because it is much harder than it appears to be at first glance. there are 2 exams;

A+ essentials and A+ Depot Technician. I know the prices have skyrocketed since I took them back in March 2009. I am certified now. yes. I just need to find a job that pays good. According to Comptia my average annual salary should be $52,000. Not bad. Good Luck on passing those exams.

  • @nerdboy4000 how long has it been since u passed the tests? Im trying to gather how long it would take people to find jobs in this field with just certifications. I really want to know is it going pay off in the end and if employment is possible with just certificates instead of degrees

  • @auq21 Well. Lets see. I was officially certified as of March 7th, 2009. So 1 year ago plus 18 days from that date. So not too long ago. The prices have increased though. You know to answer your question about how long it would take to find jobs in this field it really depends on where help is needed. Don't be discouraged if alot of places tell you that there are no open spots right now once you are certified. The economy is still picking up now. In the end, yes it will pay off for you.

  • wait ok so let's see if im understanding this correctly, are u saying it took u over a year to find a job with the certificates, or are u just stating a fact that u were certified over a year ago?

  • @auq21 To answer your 3rd question about certificates versus degrees it really all depends on what you want to do in the computer field. If you visit the Comptia website there is a link on the homepage which list all the certifications you can earn. I think there a total of like 7. For the really geeky people you can become server and Linux certified. To be honest I am unsure if there is a difference with certifications and degrees unless we mention something like computer or software engineers.

  • @auq21 Sorry for the long reply to answer, auq21. I just wanted to clear up any confusion you had about becoming knowledgeable in this field if you have a passion for computers like me. If you really want to do it you can. It just takes time, patience, and alot of concentration. I am at step 1. I still have more to go if I really want to become efficient with computers of all types. I hope my explanations help answer your questions. Feel free to write me if you have any more questions.

  • I do have some information on what I did to earn my certification. I read a giant book by a pretty well known guy in the IT field. I can't remember his name. I still have the book, though. I also have some great software I used to practice tests. The software costs me like 100 dollars a piece. 200 dollars for 2 software programs. Really good though.

  • Even with my certification that I now have in my hands I have been unsuccessful in finding a job in PC Repair. It is so frustrating for me. I feel like a wasted close to 1000 dollars total. Yes, I failed a few times. LOL These exams when I took them at the time were like 168 dollars a piece. Very expensive if you ask me to prove yourself as a worth PC technician.

Very cool that you take an interest to this skill at an early age. That is very good for you. You should have no problem.

  • Hello. I earned my A+ Certification last March 2009. My test scores are shown below.

A+ Essentials: 690 pts out of 900 totals pts

A+ Depot Technican: 810 of 900 totals pts

Ha ha. I know it is ironic I did better on the 2nd exam. I think it is because they are plenty of trick questions on the Essentials exam. There were several questions on the Essentials exam which seemed like there was more than one answer when only one answer applied. Although, some questions had multiple choices.

  • Your reading the wrong text book kid.

  • i cant belive your interested in the a+certification at a early age..........im 19 and imgoing for mines early febuary hit me up if you need tools like certblaster ..

  • I hope you passed because I go and take mines next month.

  • Im in the same boat man Im also studying for the test

  • i hope you pass :)

  • Got my A+ back in '07. Don't overthink it, it is very easy compared to the books. Also don't focus too hard on hexadecimal conversions and I/O settings, I don't remember a single question on either.

  • I think you will do just fine on the test just study.

  • best of luck.

  • Good luck, Ive started college im doing basically the same :)

  • thats awesome you are trying for A+ Cert.

    good luck.

I have thought of getting Certifiated in something for computers. I did graduate from college in Network Administration.

The upgrading and repairing pcs is a good book. I have used that many times when working on my computers and solving problems.

    Hope you pass the test.

    talk to you later

    Matt
