You're talking about the skull route platforms. It's always there if you got to that point in the level without dying. Consequently, if you died before you got to that point, it would just be a hologram.

i STILL have this game, but of all levels, it freezes on Road to Ruin :(.

In crash games (not Crash 1 cause I never played it before) it's like this:

Red-Difficult(cb2-Snow Go *secret in Air Crash*; cb3-Deep Trouble switch box then back to TNT)

Yellow-Challenge(cb2-Plant Food Time; cb3-lv 7 relics)

LOL I outsmarted my dad on this level when I was like 5 - there was an extra life on a collapsing platform. when he tried to get it, the platform collapsed and he died. but I got the life, jumped back, waited for the platform to re-appear and then carried on ^_^ his reaction was priceless

I remember when I was little I always used to play this game!!! Road to Ruin was one of my favourite levels but I remember Ruination being really difficult. This is one of my all time favourite songs from the Crash games... I remember the lightning and thunder in the level made it really atmospheric... a great childhood memory :) thanks for putting this up

This sounds stupid, but when I was younger, I was always scared of the thunder in the Ruination level. You never know when it would be loud... That and the heavy rain made me lose a couple of lives on a few jumps.
