just because you retire doesn't mean you don't fly anymore, it's time to take it back to where it all began, low slow in a single or multi prop and enjoy retirement
I was at a stage where I was going to blow everyone I saw away but didn't, chose to go to Thailand instead, had this on the cd player, while the 747 taxied and then took of over the gulf of st vincert,as the plane climbed it allso turned to head to melbourne and there was nothing between me and the water 15,000 ft below but a plexiglass window, absolutely in the hands of the engineers, the pilots and god, awesome, now I use that music everytime I get down as a reminder of the buzz that waits ahead.
sad, i never want to retire! Plus when you've been flying your whole life, what do you do when you retire? Gotta have said some good bucks if you wanna keep flying

Sad day because now he has to look for a job! I know more than a few that are truck drivers now as they are barely able to stay afloat financially due to raided pensions and twenty years of giving concessions to the corporation.
@contrail777 Thanks for the reply! How are you doing with regards to seniority? Will you move on to long haul before making captain or how does it work in the American majors? You can respond by PMing me if you prefer! Thanks for the replies!
It must be a hard nut to do the last flight after a life of work and taking the birds to the sky. THANK YOU Capt. for taking us far and beyond. ALl the best from Spain.
i am not a pilot i am 14 years old but, my dream is be a comercial polit, i know that i will hate my last flight, i wanted be a pilot of delta but if the capitans don't work after at the 60 years, i don't work in delta, now that i am 14 years old i hate these moments!!!!!!!!!!!11
Typical here in Canada and the US. Everything is run like a business, for profit only. People can go above and beyond their their job description day in and day out and do their job out of passion but they get tossed to the curb in the end because of a number. What happened to appreciation?
Very sad Captain very sad to give up something you love so much best job in the world!! all the best Captain, was in tears cause I have a strong passion for flying to retire must be hard.
@contrail777 WOW!!! I knew some birds could get way high up but, I didn't know a bug could reach FL110. I think what I hit was a bumble bee, likely also caught in an updraft. I did hit a bird one time but that was right at Vr. What was left of him after he went through the prop arc was sitting right on the centerline of the runway. After landing an hour or so later, what was stuck to the windscreen were some blood, guts and tiny feathers. Lineboy had a job getting that off the plexi.
must be such a sad feeling to land for last time. then again, maybe he has a lot of plans for retirement. but still, id cry like a baby. boohoooooo
