Not really yet. The real traction issues became when I built the 3.5litre injected twinturbo engine. 750nm of torque made the car really not streetable. Spun the tires from any gear, from any speed just by flooring the pedal. So I sold the car and later the engine and built something else.
done the same thing back in 1988 in the town where i live in a red capri mk2 2000 got caught drink driveing was sick as fuck banned for a year caught with a bag of weed, nearly pulled off giveing the police a dodgy name until me mate slipped up the police knew it to so they said yer dad is hear to id you it was me mates dad i was sick as a cunt,he had to id me he hated the police but his son came 1st wer still all good freinds me mates in jail now for selling whizz/speed
Good abusing there, dude! Nothing like flooring it and being pushed back in your seat! Would give my eye teeth for five mins in that machine! Fookin quality.
ive got 2 more thousand to save up before i buy my mk1 essex v6 im a 18 and its 1543 to insure and tax free its so cheap my punto sporting was 1400 and my 1.3 mini was 1700 i dont understand
Capri insurance is probably cheaper becouse teenagers no longer wrap them around lightpoles. They wrap Punto's and Mini's instead. The more wraparounds the more is the insurance.
Car is rubbish, ship it to me. Beautiful car, nice work. I can only dream of my 1973 being complete. The bodywork-the flares, are they metal or fiberglass? If you were to do it again, would you change anything? What did you learn (any shortcuts you can give to the rest of us?) Enjoy your car and thanks for the video.
Flares are fiberglass. I did learn that flares ment for Race use don't fit that good and they are not exact mirror images from left to right. Can't think of any shortcuts, shit-lot-a-work. Alot of enjoyment on the way this summer.. ;) new videos too..
haha yeah man i had a 27 capri once and i use to give it shit and it still went strong, even after it had a little fire it still went strong after i got it going again
3to1 long tube manifolds into single 2.5" exhaust. Way too silent, most of the growl is originated to the intake. I'll build stainless steel twin 2" exhaust when I have the time.
aha... what could you tell me what carb/intake you have and what exhaust silencers you have? Im looking at replacing the back boxes on mine with cherry bombs, but am not sure its a good idea?
Engine is based on the South African 3.4 essex block. However only the crank is left pretty much stock. I'd love to have mk3 x-pack, I maybe building one soon (a friend of mine has all the part's needed) ;)
The car is made to be driven. Capris are made to be driven hard. This one is built with great care to withstand all the punishment It will ever see. Even tough still lacks atleast another 100hp to be truly fun.

For some odd reason the older the car the cheaper the car insurence is.
i did a test on a ford anglia 1959 or so and the insurence was $850 per year(Meant to be a Pound sign, but LT is American n dosen't let u choose it)

how many bhp do you have in this perfect machine?
nenjalj 4 years ago
Around 220-230hp, 330-340nm of torq. I'm currently installing a programmable ignition and will have some dyno figures soon.
ahirvonea 4 years ago
that's awsome!! tell us those dyno figures as soon as you get them please.

Hi do do have web site dedicated to your capri ? I remember to Hirvonen's capri web in the middle of 90's. It was yours ?
I have a Mk3 X-Pack with 3.1 tuned engine.

I have a bored out 38dgas on mine.
mcmeat51 3 years ago
Ric wood intake with 3x Weber 40dcnf's. Now fitted with 42dcnf's. I got a few set's of 40dcnf's that i'm going to sell on ebay shortly.
I think I allready answered to the question about the exhaust.
New bigger 3.4Litre stage 5 engine is on the way as is the new exhaust. Short specs;
3375cc, 11:1, full race heads, mappable ignition and current 42' webers. So basically i'm having the heads finished and building a new bottom end.
doodledoo...

Hi,
NICE SETUP!!! Yea I read that, I ment what silencers (make) you were using?
thanks bud!!
again lovely car!!
mcmeat51 3 years ago
Oh my God! This setup will change your Capri to Space Shuttle :)
Which company is the engine supplier ?
capridriver 3 years ago
Engine is based on the South African 3.4 essex block. However only the crank is left pretty much stock. I'd love to have mk3 x-pack, I maybe building one soon (a friend of mine has all the part's needed) ;)
Car has 2 2½" simons mufflers.
ahirvonea 3 years ago
Aaaha, I know, it is new 3.4 from eBay seller, isn't it ? South African engines with cool alloy rocker covers :-)
I bought short block 3.1 on eBay too, dismantled and tuned to the Fast road specification.
