It does look like he was hugging her but perhaps he was trying to move her out of the way of a full head on hit verses a fall on him which is what actually occurred if you watch the video. She really would have been hurting the next day if he hit her without him breaking the hit which is what I believe he was trying to do and accomplished it very well for the time he had to react to realizing he was going to hurt her if he didn't do something.

I know what you mean about real dance sqauds as i've eseen those competitions and the girls put on amazing atheltic performances. The Dallas cowboy cheerleaders are kind pf psuedo celebs and are told not to outshine the boys ont he field.
