  • EMO GIRL FROM SHANE DAWSON : HAUNTED HOUSE GAME:

WHAT IS THIS? SCARY MAZE 2008? *pony* shows up

    AHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • this maze seems like it's VERY freaky, even with the less amount of actors. the details and audio are super big and loud.. i wonder why they dont have this anymore.

  • do you have a night vison camrea?

  • how long r these mazes??i wouldnt last 30 seconds in it!!!

  • Seems like you never even budge man.. as a grown ass man I still jump every now and then.

  • No, I do sometimes jump when I get surprised. Check out my "Feary Tales in 3-D @ Knott's Scary Farm '07" video for one of the bigger startles I've had while filming.

  • THIS MAZE DIDNT REALLY SCARE U HUH?

  • Yup. Could be very cool if they do it right.

  • I know they spent too much on the scenery than on the actors, but you must admit that they spent a crapful on the maze itself. The bleeding statues, the changing protraits, everything.

This is the closest (in my opinion) that has a good amount of scenery like disneyland. Such loving details you sometimes forget the actors

  • Yeah, as with Red Beard's Revenge drawing inspiration from the brilliant Pirates of the Caribbean ride, this maze drew inspiration from a number of elements of the Haunted Mansion.

  • At about 1:50, that looks really well done. It's a larger room, with a small stairway to your side, and a body hanging from above. Very cool.

And the music choice was a nice one, it adds to the attraction.

And around 6:30, another great scene. Larger rooms are more realistic, resulting in them often also being more scary.

  • Yeah, there some really impressive rooms in this maze. Hopefully Terror of London will be as good or better in that department.

  • are they going to take the maze out for this year?

  • Yes I'm afraid they are. That's what I heard. But knowing Knott's, I'm sure they'll come up with something scarier in it's place.

  • Yes, in its place will be Terror of London, which sounds promising.

  • I went to Knotts in '08 and in my opinion this was the only really scary maze they had.

  • And it's going away this year...

  • there was only 3 tite ass mazes and this one was one of them...

other 2: CLUB BLOOD AND THE ASYLUM

  • corn stalkers?

  • it seemed alot scarier this year

  • holy shit im going to this maze on the thirtyth of October which is in 2 weeks

  • now they make the murder mansion SOOO much scarier the ppl follow u if u show ur fear now

  • not really I just came back from Knotts and I was severly dissapointed, Thirteen Ave manor pretty much blowed in my opinion there were alot of gaps no monsters and the decor was just painted flats with an occasional table or bed. As well of the many other mazes at Knotts they pretty much blowed even Quarantine, one maze which was pretty good was pyromaniax but other then that the whole hype about knotts is FALSE. HHN is starting to take notice though...

  • this shit would be crazy if you could only go one at a time that would be fucking crazy!

  • dosent this have to do with lizzie borden?

  • No, not explicitly, though that case may have provided some amount of inspiration.

  • Ohh ok

    Thanks for all your videos!

  • Umm no it was around Before Haunted mansion :]]

and this is meant to scare the crap out of you

  • Uh, no, it was not around before the Haunted Mansion. The Mansion opened in 1969, whereas Knott's Halloween Haunt didn't start until 1973, and 13 Axe Murder Manor wasn't introduced until 2005.

While I wouldn't go so far as to call this a "total copy", ZombiexRylo is right that it takes a lot of inspiration from the Mansion. As I mention on the "full details" page linked to in the description:

  • "The maze (like Red Beard's Revenge with Pirates of the Caribbean) draws some inspiration from Disney's Haunted Mansion attraction, including hallways with changing portraits (which are actually a commercial product from The Ghoulish Gallery, though it appears the versions used in the Manor were modified by the creators or by Knott's to be backlit), a haunted crystal ball table, a ghostly bride, floating books in a library, dead folks around a long banquet table,

  • spooks appearing behind half-silvered mirrors, and a skeleton hanging by a noose overhead in a tall skinny room.

That's not to say that the Manor is merely a ripoff of the Mansion, of course. Knott's put a lot of original ideas into the maze as well, and of course they're able to go into realms of gore and grue into which the Mouse dare not tread."

  • Total copy of the haunted mansion!!

    =O

  • weiner

  • From what I've heard, Knott's puts on the second best haunt, next to Universal Studios.

  • lame....not enough actors...boring

  • LOL HI MOM!!!

  • this dosnt look that scary at all? if u want a good place to scare ya go to worlds of fun at kc,mo and RENEIND they do that whith all there haunted house at wof! it much more scarier

  • I agree with Rockerapple13! Haha. Worlds of Fun is awesome at puting on a great Haunt.

I should know. I work in the haunted houses.

  • I agree danielxtizaight. This maze actually scared the crap outta me, and it takes alot to scare me.

  • ohmygawdd. i went through this onee.

that part in the girl's room where she's like sitting there on the beed, is hella scaryy.

  • I don't get it... If it's called the '13 Axe Murder' Manor, why are there so many hanging cases all over the place???

  • at uniersavl studios on the House of horrors maze i was screaming the time.....

  • Hahahaha xD

  • Ugh...the one part with the singing child...TERRIFYING!!!!!

  • are you going to put footage up this year for this maze??

  • Yes. Sorry for the ridiculous delay.

  • I may sound dumb but they should let u go in with the people u came with like u ur group have the whole maze 2 urself, like in QUEEN MARY SHIPWRECK that is wat they do u go alone with ur group and u have the whole thing 2 urself which is more scary every monster comes out at u

  • do you know how long the lines would be if they did that?!

  • Nah cuz they wait for 55 secs ormaybe a min and thenthey let u in

  • haha yeeeah. cuhhs like in mazes, i watch for screamms. from like the people before me, so that i like prepare myself for the monster or wahteverr thats comingg (x

  • lol Mee tooooo..!

  • Did someone fart in the maze at 4:54???

  • Some of the monsters at the Haunt enjoy humorously (when done right) insulting the guests rather than scaring them -- the "whew, you stink!" gesture by the ghost at 4:54 is probably just part of her repertoire, rather than due to an actual smell.

  • dan i went this year and the doll maze was awesome, you gotta get a vid of that maze dude

  • Yeah, I got footage of it last night. Hopefully I'll have time to get that up on YouTube soon.

  • awesome that was one of my favorite mazes this year

  • are you going in these last couple days dan??

  • Yes. Went once early in the season without my camera, and will be going back once or twice in the next few days with it.

  • Dan these videos are awesome!

This year at the end of this maze they had a guy on bungee chords who scared the crap out of me hahaha.

  • Thanks, glad you like them. Thanks for the reminder about the bungee guy in here -- I remembered there being a new bungee guy somewhere this year but was thinking it was in one of the new mazes. I'll be sure to watch out for him when I film (I failed to properly capture the Red Beard's Revenge one last year).

  • nothing si like popping out you guys... noone is screaming or anything

  • DanHarkless, I need a plan so that I can trick my parents into thinking I'm going with them to Knott's Scary Farm but I'm actually staying to check on them. How can I trick them? FYI: My parents are smart. I NEED A GOOD PLAN!

  • Oh, i'm gonna be screamin for sweet lil 9 lb baby jesus!! I'm going tonite!! Aaaahh! I can't wait.

  • this maze is the scariest aahh!

    im going october 12th

    yee!

  • you should go to "spooky house". they have some pretty good mazes. i liked them more than i did knott's scary farm

  • Thanks for the tip. Yeah, one of these years I want to get to some of those more boutique and out-of-the-way haunts like that, but my Octobers are always so packed to the gills as it is...

  • i actually just got back and "spooky house" moved so they only had 1 maze, but it was a good 10 minute walk XD. it was worth it and they'll only get bigger the next coming years. i highly recommened it to go there

  • Geesh. Everyone must have been on break the night you filmed this. Where the heck is all the talent?

  • Yeah, mazes seemed understaffed pretty much across the board on this visit, and it seems to be a mystery as to why, since several Haunt monsters have commented on the video of their own maze saying, "Where the heck were we all??".

  • ill be in this maze this year its gunna be tight

  • Cool -- I look forward to catching your performance. :-)

  • LOL the stature at 4:57 looked like it was snorting coccaine.. :p

  • No it didnt

  • Thats funny I didn't

think you could snort coke through the neck

Look again and you will see

  • even though i enjoyed this maze...i still think they should not have taken out Blood Bayou

  • Yeah, I liked Blood Bayou quite a bit as well, especially the voodoo parts, like that outside "room" with the hot voodoo priestess chanting over the shrunken corpse roasting on a spit. Voodoo has a lot of good scare potential, I think, moreso than they even tapped into in that maze and its predecessor the Voodoo Witch Project. Also I recall there was a chainsaw guy who would pop out near the voodoo priestess area -- that's a lot more scary and unexpected in a maze than in the scare zones.

  • This maze and the Asylum are probably the scariest mazes I've ever been to in my life.

  • This one acutally scared me

  • did they even have anybody jump out at u? cause i didnt see anything

  • Yeah, the maze was way understaffed.

  • sup ninja

  • i went in this maze 2 years ago and i was only 8 and it traumetized my life

  • I CAME HERE LAST YEAR

  • yes that is very true.

  • the "twitching legs" is actually supposed to have the whole body shake like he is struggling for his life... If you know what I mean.

  • Yeah, I know what they're going for -- they just need to figure out a less mechanical/pneumatic-sounding way of achieving that effect (or cover it up with very loud music and/or sound effects).
