You get what you pay for and that is a better experience all around, I'm saving up for the new i7 15in Macbook Pro, I think 2more weeks I should have it, this will be my 1st Mac/Apple Product period!
Another truly obnoxious thing about Mac laptops, is the heat. They aren't properly vented, and typically all aluminum, so the whole thing heats up and helps ensure you wont be having any kids. I had one, and it was truly annoying. I switched from a MBP to a DV9700t. Long live the 9700t.
PC computers break down and get viruses because their users don't maintain them. Complaining about a PC running slow is usually like complaining your car engine is acting up- but you refuse to get an oil change.
And Mac's are resistant to viruses due to their SOFTWARE, the OS. Meaning the DV9700t is easily as resistant as a MBP.
Oh, and my 9700t has dual SATA 7200's (120 GB). Rawk.
You guys are missing the point. It doesn't have to be a BMW, maybe a Lexus would be a better example though. A Lexus rarely breaks down, like a Mac. The PC on the other hand is like a Kia: cheap, but still gets you from one point to another, albeit a little late from the break downs! lol

That's a stupid comparison, really. Unless BMW's and Kia's have the SAME engines, the SAME steering system, the SAME everything, just a different outer shell, then as far as hardware goes they're the same. Mac hardware and PC hardware is the same, only difference is typically the Macs have older and less powerful versions (i.e. nVidea cards). The OS on Apple's side is good, but Windows is just as productive (excluding 32-bit Vista).
Meaning as in next to Win7, Snow Leopard is an insignificant upgrade.
And only morons say it's a little more polished Vista. Every OS upgrade, including Snow Leopard, is just an upgrade, it's obviously not completely new, so essentially you can argue that it's just polished as long as you accept that that is how ALL upgrades work.
And no matter what you want to call it, that doesn't change the massive improvements 7 brings as a change from Vista.

If you need to install Windows on a Mac, then that just proves how insufficient and pathetic OS X really is. If you get a PC, all you need is Windows, and with 7 coming out, there will no longer be any excuse for you fanboys to yell and cry about Vista's flaws... which is currently the only standing reason people dislike Windows. Windows 7 isn't just a few upgrades, it's a lot of very big upgrades. Faster, better core processor usage, more powerful, no problems, no crashes, no hiccups, and new features and finally some of those upgrades that you're thinking of. In contrast to Vista, it's a huge improvement, and currently standing as the best version of Windows to yet be made. OS X has nothing on Windows 7. Like I said, Vista is the only reason people complain... this wasn't the case with XP, and won't be with 7.

A PC that doesn't crash... that's so 2007, when Vista came out. In case you didn't know, Vista doesn't crash if the computer isn't build out of plastic Doritos. It temporarily has programs stop responding sometimes, but they always recover, extremely rarely do they crash, and that's not the OS's fault. Good programs never crash on my computer.
Windows 7 has certain features, like side-by-side windows, that OS X doesn't have. Compared to OS X, Windows 7 is multitasking God.
Microsoft isn't playing catch-up, they're playing don't screw up again, because Vista was a failure on their part. That's why I'm using XP as an example. History repeats itself, ever heard that term before? Vista is the ONLY thing you have to bitch about at this point, and 7 will rectify that.

This was current gen Mac Pro at time of filming. I believe it states this was correct at time of filming. After this time passed I cannot be held accountable. Would it really matter anyways? Macs are nice but are way over priced. If I do one new, same result would be. If Apple would have lowered their price they could have dominated MSFT. However, they did not so prepare for pent up pc demand to once again go return to windows. (when windows 7 emerges) Thanks for watching!
you are right, they do have similar specs but the mac is better not because of the specs but because of its operating system. Not only is Mac OS x just more user friendly, faster, and innovative, it also includes awesome programs like ichat, imovie, and garageband. Face it windows movie maker sucks really bad, and that is pretty much the only entertaining program pcs come with, i mean they label volume control as fucking entertainment. what you pay for is better software that works better.
but you forgot, we can use the spare $2000 we saved on the pc to get better movie/music editing software. so while you may start your computer 10-20 seconds faster than mine, i have some spare change to play with. so in my opinion, it's definitly worth the wait.

My HP's power jack became loose, HP wants $398US to fix it. It overheats and looses performance.
The Mac's power adapter is MAGNETIC, it cant become loose.. When the lights dim, the keyboard lights up (I DJ) so big plus. The macbook pro due to is Aluminum casing, runs so much cooler.
And MAC OSX is such a better operating system in SO many ways, but u can still put XP on a MacBook Pro! But not the other way around!

macs run better with 2 gigs of ram because they are designed to run like that and the hard disk on the mac is so much because they have solid state drives and also run quicker than normal

Guys, u buy a p.c. all nice & stuff, but eventually in about 1 or 2 years the p.c. is going to suffer from crashes, viruses, and other threads that make your p.c. slower. The longer u have a PC, the slower it gets.
macs never crash. ive had one for about, 6 monts the black 2gig ram and 250 gig hard drive, and its crashed about twice. my mom has a h dell (no idea what model) but i do know that it is the same thing memory wise, and the first 3 MONTHS it crashed about 6 times. it has vista... vista sucks
i have had vista home premium on an hp pavilion e75 pc for a year and a half and i havn't had one problem ! never crashed, no virusus and no fukin around with it |!! ive had vista on an acer aspire 5535 for 5 months and it only gave me trouvle once but it was my fault and it only took a system restore to fix it !! And my mate has a mac laptop (not sure what it is but its new) for 2 months and it keeps fuking up !!! your mum must be a dumb shit with computers, tell her to take better care of it

Even at it's most expensive the dv9700t is still around $100 less than the cheapest 17" macbook pro (includes a 2.6ghz cpu, 640gb, and blu-ray). And if you're a mac head just install OS X on your hp. The dv9700t is rated one of the most compatible laptops. So you get all the benefits of a macbook pro at half the price. Being a student, I'm all about cheap efficiency. And the macbook air is shyt. It has the features of a fingernail at the price of an hdtv. Its like being the coolest anorexic kid.
Myself i would have the hp and well i have one coming tomorrow in fact. The apple seems very pricey for what it is, and i have never liked apple. Finally as a student i am always after the best deal and in this case there is only one winner HP.
HP dv series' have impressed me GREATLY. My grandmother got one, my mom, my dad both have one. I am getting one and my uncle plans to buy one. all in different models. But the DV series has blown me away in terms of light/casual gaming, entertainment and quality/performance.
Talking about operation system, if someone say OSX is better than windows, then I'd agree. I used new iMac for one month and I WAS more than happy. but,, from a hardware point of view, I can't find decent reason why we should pay 1800 bucks more for almost same spec hardware.

yeah i got myn for 2500 and lol alienwares m17x costs round 7215 with everything pimped out and the only differnence is .2 gigahertz and bter graphics cards and more gigs on the hard drive. and the hdx from hp SMOKES the macbook pro in everything but it costs a thousand bucks less

Because Dell makes the best and the most survivable notebooks / laptops. Well-known fact, go check Dell XPS M1730, if money is not your problem, then screw Macbook Pro and get this one. It's not so 'Dirt cheap' as you may finds out, it's around $3,500.

First of all - remember, I would never buy an apple even if I had the cash.
Now, apple notebooks are more reliable. Trust me on this. HP does look nifty, and it's certainly cheap for the powerhouse that it is claimed to be. However, HP did not begin as a notebook manufacturer and its main items are NOT notebooks. Hence, less durability, although very powerful.
My opinion is to buy a tough, reliable and solid laptop, even if not powerful, and upgrade it later.
I am a PC user, but you're comparing something that has more value for resale.I used macs as well, My G4 Power Book is worth 800 EVEN though its collecting dust old. When that hp laptop reach that age it no one would buy it haha.

Regarding dial-up modem; many people use them to send/receive faxes without wasting paper and they are needed if traveling to foreign countries that may not have widespread wifi available - especially in private homes but do have telephones.
Also the Mac external monitor output works only with their monitors, and there is no output for HDMI to plug into a plsma or t.v.
lmao, if you travel a lot, you should know now a days , people use Wifi or just plug the laptop through ethernet. By the way thats 4 gb of Ram the HP laptop is not going to use. and what are you gonna do with the money you saved, prepare to saved that money up for future break downs lol
Standard vista 32bit cap at 3gb however system also cache around 0.5 gb total of 3.5-ish gb. You can get 64bit version free from ms and use up to 8 on this model i think, if you know what you doing.
Actually, if it were not for the HP Pavillon 9700 I would not be on a MBP. First, HP is sexy and has an excellent keyboard. When I got mine in Dec. I was disappointed with the quality. Tech. Supp. is TERRIBLE. I MEAN HORRIBLE. Well the HP went back and in my opinion there is just is comparison. It is like a Ford and a Lexus. You pay for quality - thats life. Just my opinion.

That's a stupid comparison, really. Unless BMW's and Kia's have the SAME engines, the SAME steering system, the SAME everything, just a different outer shell, then as far as hardware goes they're the same. Mac hardware and PC hardware is the same, only difference is typically the Macs have older and less powerful versions (i.e. nVidea cards). The OS on Apple's side is good, but Windows is just as productive (excluding 32-bit Vista).

Windows 7 isn't just a few upgrades, it's a lot of very big upgrades. Faster, better core processor usage, more powerful, no problems, no crashes, no hiccups, and new features and finally some of those upgrades that you're thinking of. In contrast to Vista, it's a huge improvement, and currently standing as the best version of Windows to yet be made. OS X has nothing on Windows 7. Like I said, Vista is the only reason people complain... this wasn't the case with XP, and won't be with 7.

A PC that doesn't crash... that's so 2007, when Vista came out. In case you didn't know, Vista doesn't crash if the computer isn't build out of plastic Doritos. It temporarily has programs stop responding sometimes, but they always recover, extremely rarely do they crash, and that's not the OS's fault. Good programs never crash on my computer.
Windows 7 has certain features, like side-by-side windows, that OS X doesn't have. Compared to OS X, Windows 7 is multitasking God.

This was current gen Mac Pro at time of filming. I believe it states this was correct at time of filming. After this time passed I cannot be held accountable. Would it really matter anyways? Macs are nice but are way over priced. If I do one new, same result would be. If Apple would have lowered their price they could have dominated MSFT. you are right, they do have similar specs but the mac is better not because of the specs but because of its operating system. Not only is Mac OS x just more user friendly, faster, and innovative, it also includes awesome programs like ichat, imovie, and garageband. Face it windows movie maker sucks really bad, and that is pretty much the only entertaining program pcs come with, i mean they label volume control as fucking entertainment. what you pay for is better software that works better.

My HP's power jack became loose, HP wants $398US to fix it. It overheats and looses performance.
The Mac's power adapter is MAGNETIC, it cant become loose.. When the lights dim, the keyboard lights up (I DJ) so big plus. The macbook pro due to is Aluminum casing, runs so much cooler.
And MAC OSX is such a better operating system in SO many ways, but u can still put XP on a MacBook Pro! But not the other way around!
So you should rethink your comparison..

macs never crash. ive had one for about, 6 monts the black 2gig ram and 250 gig hard drive, and its crashed about twice. my mom has a h dell (no idea what model) but i do know that it is the same thing memory wise, and the first 3 MONTHS it crashed about 6 times. it has vista... vista sucks

i have had vista home premium on an hp pavilion e75 pc for a year and a half and i havn't had one problem ! never crashed, no virusus and no fukin around with it |!! ive had vista on an acer aspire 5535 for 5 months and it only gave me trouvle once but it was my fault and it only took a system restore to fix it !! Even at it's most expensive the dv9700t is still around $100 less than the cheapest 17" macbook pro (includes a 2.6ghz cpu, 640gb, and blu-ray). And if you're a mac head just install OS X on your hp. The dv9700t is rated one of the most compatible laptops. So you get all the benefits of a macbook pro at half the price. Being a student, I'm all about cheap efficiency. And the macbook air is shyt. It has the features of a fingernail at the price of an hdtv. Its like being the coolest anorexic kid.

They r all good(new laps, intel), with advantages and disadvantages in both sides. Both break and need care quite often.

Because Dell makes the best and the most survivable notebooks / laptops. Well-known fact, go check Dell XPS M1730, if money is not your problem, then screw Macbook Pro and get this one. It's not so 'Dirt cheap' as you may finds out, it's around $3,500.
Oh - and I gather you're shitting money, my friend. Your comment was very selfish - not everyone will want to spend over $1,500 for a notebook - maybe because it's too expensive. Or maybe because it's not worth doing so, soon it will be outdated.

i buy same pc as apple for much less, can do more with it ( games, productivity, etc.) and then have thousands left to play craps or whatever i want.

nah I think he meant you can get the same performance(well, almost), but better quality - that means it's still usable after 5 years. Errrr I know someone who has a TOSHIBA laptop, 6 years old, and only now the Win XP (home-installed, not factory) broke down.
Well, that would work if you had Mac OS for some years now and know how to handle it. Eh... and also too much money and a tendency to speak with your hands.

First of all - remember, I would never buy an apple even if I had the cash.
Now, apple notebooks are more reliable. Trust me on this. HP does look nifty, and it's certainly cheap for the powerhouse that it is claimed to be. However, HP did not begin as a notebook manufacturer and its main items are NOT notebooks. Hence, less durability, although very powerful.
My opinion is to buy a tough, reliable and solid laptop, even if not powerful, and upgrade it later.

I agree with some parts however apple solders their mother boards. Most pc I know of you can exchange graphics chip and processor.

I am a PC user, but you're comparing something that has more value for resale.I used macs as well, My G4 Power Book is worth 800 EVEN though its collecting dust old. When that hp laptop reach that age it no one would buy it haha.

Regarding dial-up modem; many people use them to send/receive faxes without wasting paper and they are needed if traveling to foreign countries that may not have widespread wifi available - especially in private homes but do have telephones.
Also the Mac external monitor output works only with their monitors, and there is no output for HDMI to plug into a plsma or t.v.
For $3000 you should get more, not less.

Standard vista 32bit cap at 3gb however system also cache around 0.5 gb total of 3.5-ish gb. You can get 64bit version free from ms and use up to 8 on this model i think, if you know what you doing.
Btw what would 8gb ram cost from apple? HaHaHa

Actually, if it were not for the HP Pavillon 9700 I would not be on a MBP. First, HP is sexy and has an excellent keyboard. When I got mine in Dec. I was disappointed with the quality. Tech. Supp. is TERRIBLE. I MEAN HORRIBLE. Well the HP went back and in my opinion there is just is comparison. It is like a Ford and a Lexus. You pay for quality - thats life. Just my opinion.
