Hi great tutorial however i dont seem to get the same results. did you apply the substance shader to the particleshape as well? when i came this part 4:14 my particleshape node did not have the ramps you said that maya would automatically create. also in 5:33 it was a bit confusing im sorry i have not much experience in creating nodes in hypershade how did you get the multiplydivde node to the emmiter node i cant seem to get them connected. great tutorial and would really like to learn more.
@jedisnow The substance library is located at the root of Maya's installation directory, the folder is called "substances". However, the animated textures being used in this video are available in an additional package called "Bonus Tools/Pack" that you can download for free: allegorithmicDOTcom/community/blog/article-substance-bonus-tools-maya-2012
@neegan1 There is no more "Flow" attribute, the texture is now automatically animated, just enable "Animation" in the attribute editor, you can also adjust the Speed of the animation.
i have NO flow attribute and there is NO default connection to opacity PP. please check what version you offer on your website. what i downloaded does not match what you show here. (it seems as i am not alone with this problem)
Hi I have question for this vdo. I try to put the substance output texture to the Opacity PP ramp color it seem doesn't work for me. because ramp turn substance output color to be one color. Do I need any expression for this? :(
What was your system's specs?

I cant ever find a video on how to sculpt a cool character from scratch...
drakozero8 4 months ago
@drakozero8 I would suggest Mudbox or Zbrush. They both have presets of chars. Then you can just sculpt them however you like.

@krz9000 The flow attribute has been substituted by an automatic animation, just enable "Animation" within the AE/channel box.

@milemoos1 MMB on the material and drag it to your object in the viewport.
Or select your object, RMB on your material and choose "Assign material to selection".

You need to connect the Emissive output as transparency in your material.

in maya 2012 that i have, there is no flow attribute, but the speed attribute works just as well. (as long as animation is on 1).
Thanks for an awesome tut. Always wanted to know how to make energy balls like that.
