I HAD A DTC FOR VTEC FAILING. I ALWAYS FELT MINE TO BE TOO WEAK AND SLOW. AS SOON AS I FIXED IT (LOSE WIRE AT THE CONNECTOR) I COULD FEEL THE DIFFERENCE ALSO FEEL IT KICK IN SLIGHTLY. ALSO I WOULD SMASH ON OTHER CARS THAT WOULD BEAT ME BEFORE THIS. VTEC= BIG DIFF. =D
@xYAMAHAx073x no freedom of speach? im just pointing it out..vtec has more weight on the valve train..to where nissan just uses a valve to tweek the entire cam. instead of adding another cam lob and rocker arm..dont be angry bc i state somthing...hondas are good ...they make damn good lawnmowers and generators
Toyotas are just as reliable as Hondas... Except only sheeple buy them(combination of sheep and people), and they serve the same purpose as some peoples microwaves and refigerators..... They are like an appliance and have no soul or passion when designed.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS ?!?!?!?!?....i recall a few years ago the breaks going out on brand new toyotas, i dont recall that ever happening with hondas.....safe to say that that hondas are engineered better hence the BETTER reliability
@epich100 Toyotas are slightly more reliable, but they're fuckin appliances.... that's all they are good for. I like Honda's a lot more and they are better quality cars but parts are slightly more expensive and some of the mechanical parts aren't as well built for high miles.
@epich100 but all cars will have a recall...hondas had recalls on stuff before..toyotas have a super reliable engine..only cars i hate are ones wrongly molested...cant but buy a economy car like a civic and throw a loud exhaust on it and consider it a race car..
your v tec sounds nice when i get my lude i want it to sound like yours. nice and smooth hehe that loud straight pipe shit i just murder to the brain...
My vtec kicks in at 5500. And I gotta redline it in first around 7800 before I shift so it stays in vtec second gear. May be your solenoid that's keeping it from engaging
so when v-tec kicks in do you hear a sound or do you actually feel it kick in? cause i push my prelude over 5000rpm's and i didn't feel or really hear anything. ???
At about 5200rpms is where the vtec crossover is. You should hear and feel it on a healthy engine. Mine is very loud due to performance mods that have been added. The H22 will not engage vtec if the engine is not to operating temp or if the engine is low on oil. Not enough oil pressure will not engage it.
@TW1Nspin That is true : "The H22 will not engage vtec if the engine is not to operating temp or if the engine is low on oil. Not enough oil pressure will not engage it"
@TW1Nspin Lmao fuckin VTEC is a joke, I floored it in my Mom's minivan and noticed no difference, floored it in my dad's "300 hp" Acura RL and only snarled a little bit, but no difference. When my Dad bought a 7-speed G37 sedan it felt like there was this fuckin vtec sensation you call all over the place. It actually had TORQUE. Vtec is a joke, he doesn't hear or feel it because it's a fuckin joke. Gtfo ricer
@ThaBaseballer Okay, answer this.... Is there this feeling of being pushed back into your seat if you jump just 100 rpm ? Honda engines are smooth but don't have anything below 4,000 or(in the case of a K20) below 6,000. F/I or C/I are the only way to go if you want usable power all over the place. My supercharged Mazda or the 4.0 in my XJ both have so much more low end and mid range torque then my J30 Accord V6 did.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS your millenia s did 0-60 in like 9 seconds....i watched the video. and in regards to your other comparisons you are comparing unlike cars.
@ThaBaseballer The base 170 hp Millenia did 0-60 in 9 seconds. I ran even with a 2010 Mustang V6 all the way through first gear and he beat me by a car to 60 mph. He didn't expect to be that close, 2010
Mustang V6 does 0-60 in 6.5. I also beat a Charger V6 by 3 cars to 60, they do 0-60 in the 8's. I beat a 2004 Mustang V6 auto which does 0-60 in 8's. I also beat my buddy's Prelude auto which does 0-60 in 8's. Stock it does 0-60 in 7.8. I'm not stock.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS actually. youre the joke. and honda has torque. and if you hate ricers then YOU gtfo because this is a ricer video and a car so why are you watching this vid if you hate rivers? loser
@hondaspeed152 VTEC video doesn't automatically equal ricer... I like Prelude's and their driving dynamics but they aren't that fast... A Camary V6 is a full second faster through the 1/4 mile and more than a second quicker to 60.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS trust me honda can make it faster than the camry, its just not worth it for them. they dont look at how fast their cars are, they want them to be reliable.
@hondaspeed152 Camry V6 is the fastest production fwd v6 car out there.... For 2012 it lost 250 lbs and now weighs 3200 lbs. I does 0-60 in 5.5 and 1/4 mile in 14.0 @ 100 mph. A Prelude 5-spee manual does 0-60 in 6.7 and 1/4 mile in 15.0 @ 93 mph
@98MAzdaMilleniaS yes, thank you, i know that. but youre comparing an old 4 cylinder car to a 2012 v6 car. abviously the 6 cylinder brand new car is going to be faster
@numberlessEspada yes you should know. its a little over 5 grand and it should get a little louder and pull harder then all of the sudden. make sure your prelude is actually a vtec lol....its pretty easy to tell when you hit it..
@tenjinnim sometimes its not even that it can also be the solenoid. but id have to hear it to know. people dont service these cars enough. even when you think its enough TRUST ME its not. ive had a lude for 5 years. fkn things!
@numberlessEspada What year is your lude? I got a 95 with a slightly modded H22a1 and the VTEC kick is pretty weak. I used to have a 2001 prelude type SH and that thing had a helluva kick. I'm waiting for my engine to die and then i'm putting an H22a Euro R engine in it, gonna be sweet.
@numberlessEspada If you get a bigger exhaust you can definitely hear it. What engine have you got though, H22 or the F22? H22 is the VTEC engine. I didn't use to hear my VTEC kick in and used to think the extra pull is because of high RPM, then I got Neptune and turned off the VTEC, it didn't make that sound or get the extra power. Got a 2.5 inch exhaust and removed cat, put a Apexi N1 muffler, now when VTEC engages you can definitely hear is scream.
@numberlessEspada Late, but I thought I'd add my experience. I put an H22 in my Accord (auto) and convinced a friend to go test drive some Preludes. After driving an SH model and hopping into a Base with an automatic, he was sorely disappointed. There wasn't much if any change in sound, and neither of us felt it 'kick in'. I'm not sure what the situation was, the engine otherwise felt very smooth.
@numberlessEspada I also thought i heard someone say that if the vtec ground wire isn't connected then it won't kick in either? correct me if I'm wrong.
do you still have your lude?
