  • i hear the output transistor on these radios are suppose to be very expensive about £70 and prone to falure? .it's little wonder then that other manufactorers are using mosfets in their radios, granted they're not very good but they're cheap and abundant so if they blow there's no hassle in replacing them.

  • @24nov67 Yes they are expensive and I think they have an issue with the BIAS curcuit. A shame as not a bad radio other whys.........even if £100 too expensive

  • Thanks for the link Dave. The recieve on that radio is excellent. It is that clear your mate sounded like he could have done with some Tunes to help clear his nose and throat. The ASC control is a good feature on the Jacko 2 as well. Might have to send mine to Germany. What am i like, i am going to be skint very soon.

  • @gholdq Yes this radio worked so well with the Hans mods, it had an Intek echo board fitted too.

Paul bought it, but had the finals go after a bad storm, this is the only real problem I have heard of.

The other thing I feel it should of had was a counter output or even a built in counter.........73 Dave

  • @m0ogy Shame about the outputs failing. I use the Zetagi C57 frequency counter on mine but that only works on TX only. A bit of a problem finding the zeros when dxing.

  • @gholdq Yes the Zetagi is only an RF sencing device ........for the cost of the radio, it would of been easy to put a output plug like on a modern 3900 and make a small branded counter as an option.......their bigest mistake I recon.

  • @Cybeth41 Thankyou from the UK.

  • i like your radio i cant find one here in canada.

we need to talk about how i can get you to send me one of those radio

    LOL.

  • @spencer4real You can import one......trouble is (Like us!!) you will be Hammered for duty ect.

  • @spencer4real Expensive. Radio is now more than ever as President raises the costs each time almost. So, not for Canada this one..........

  • I think these look cracking but they are silly money at the moment but the audio on that one sounds really nice

  • @darynsax For sure Mate!!!

  • static ? poor design of the output stage the problem is in the bias network

  • Yes I heard the same about the bias Network...but many of these radios have blown outputs via Static build up on antennas like the A99.This very radio in a Thunder Storm did just that.Maybe just "Talk",but nearly all that have blown have been on fibreglass antennasWhatever the reason, the PA stage is a big problem

  • Sound very clear and President has great CB radio's. I hope to own one next week. 5*****.

  • Yes a very nice radio other than a few issues with blown outputs caused by static.

  • Thanks Ian..........Regards Dave (M0OGY)
