  • still awesome

  • Have been loving you since I can remember...love your music...and your humor, too. Beautiful guitar playing..,as always

  • Me encanta su gran sentido del humor y su gran simpatía,me hace reir y me alegra el día. Ojalá hubieran más personas como ella.

  • such class!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's great that she can laugh at herself. Even with forgetting the lyrics, this is a wonderful version and she looks fantastic.

  • nice

  • Thanks for posting. I love this song!

  • Yes this would have to be one of my very favourite video's - forgetting the words especially at the point where she does was absolutely hilarious, she has a lot of fun with the song even though it is so poignant....and the dogs joining in was so funny - Joan has an amazing sense of humour - she is an amazing woman.

  • What a lovely lady! A class act! This was great!

  • ...that crummy hotel over Washington Square.

  • Ich liebe Dich Joan !!! Komme bitte noch einmal nach Hamburg !!!

  • Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I love "Diamonds And Rust" and this has to be my favorite clip of it. Joan Baez's easy laugh and good-natured reaction to forgetting the lyrics are just plain delightful. Because she continues to play even when she can't recall the words, we get a great reminder of what a talented guitarist she is. And ... what a beautiful smile. Thanks, Ms. Baez, for sharing your talent and your heart all these years. Oh, and if you're listening, Bob Dylan: you were wrong about her poetry. :-)

  • ...she sure knew what to do with that....girl has

    capital.

  • She is wonderful

  • Oekeeta asennetta!

  • San Antonio!!!!

  • 1:50 make me laughin a lot xD

  • Classic! I love this~

  • Apart from this being a great, great song, not a lot of people mention Joan's skill with the guitar - just listen!

  • @thoulie I agree, Joan plays guitar with amazing skill and ease - and would be one of the greatest female guitarists in the world....and as for the voice she was blessed with "and a voice to sing with" - she is a gift to this world....and yes I am totally "baezed" and proud of it :-)

  • lyric changed as time gone by...this what love is~

  • 10,20,30,40 years ago i bought you some cufflinks

  • I love Dylan with a passion - but I always had a soft spot for Joan !

Well done Joan! - a fabulous, funny, rendition of this song to Mr D. keep rocking Joan !

  • This is so wonderful and funny!!! Joan is simply AMAZING!!!

  • By far the most talented woman in music I've known. A legend still alive. Your poetry was lousy I'd say, LOL. light year is distance, not time.

    1 light year = 9.4605284 × 10^15 meters.

  • 感動毎度

  • OMG each time I see this vid, I can't help laughing, Joan, Joan, so simple, so pure, so funny, so clever, so moving.

And she's still there, we're blessed to have her in this world!

  • @nemito79 ...i know, she pulled things off sooooooo bleeping beautiful in this,

her response was perfect, all things were so perfectly wrong here, but she could

not and would not do anything wrong, i laugh, cause I have never seen such a

perfect and secure response to anything ever.

  • Love this song! Loved this album! Anyone who can - please post her version of 'Simple Twist of Fate'. Please?

  • Joan Baez is awesome. This woman can write and rock out! She is obviously having fun. That's even better! Rock out, Sistah Joan

  • 感動毎度 you are sooooooooo cooooooool!

  • Priest version is way superior

  • Who are you? Seriously, do you do anything or just keyboard cowboy other peoples great works of art? "A fucking piece of shit.." You seriously are a weak person.

  • Surely the point is, it is her own song. she wrote it therefore can play it how the fuck she likes. What a pointless comment. go listen to the original if you're so incensed by this version.

  • you are unremarkable. thats why she is famous and you are not douchebag

  • frstly, you are assuming i seek fame, which i don't, i merely seek to share my musical efforts with others and hope they enjoy them. secondly, it was not you i commented on , so why do you feel the need to criticise me in a deconstructive fashion. Thirdly, before doing such things, it is wise to prove that your own talents are remarkable. i see nothing but a room on your site. how remarkable!!! when you have something to share, i'll happily offer my constructive criticisms.

  • i wasnt talking about you. : P

  • Eh! apologies for that , i recieved a youtube/email message telling me i had a reply to my comment...which was from you.again ..sorry.. though if it were aimed at me, i'm sure you could understand my anger and confusion.

  • i do , its cool

  • She still stirs up the crowds. Great lady. Great singer !!!!!!!!!!!

  • a beautiful queen

  • Joan you rock... I simply lose myself with the beauty of this amazing song...:) gr8 plucking.

  • ..huge showmanship...takes talent to

eeeeek out of that one and to get

love and more love and more love and

    tons of more love.

  • AWESOME

  • Its for Bob Dylan end of story!

  • She wrote this for him. I find it so romantic. People do not write songs like this any more.

Thanks Joan Baez for making us dream about romantic things.

  • :-/ are you stupid? don't say some bullshit man!

  • "must be sad for THAT WOMAN"?!? man, are you kidding or something? that's fuckin' Joan Baez! "that woman" is a legend! she wrote the damn thing and, though i respect rob halford's vocal abilities, her voice is so much better and her version of the song really kicks ass. i agree this particular performance is a little "rusty" ;), but anyone who knows joan baez's music can't judge her for this... i thought it was quite funny that she couldn't remember the words and that "40 years ago" is classic!

  • Check YOUR facts. Joan Baez wrote this song in 1974.

  • daskraut: I know this is old, but I couldn't help myself. Everyone in the free world (or rather, any person with an internet connection) KNOWS that Baez wrote the music and lyrics to this song, and this is her signature song!!! If you told Rob Halford that he wrote this song, he would laugh in your face, and say "thanks man, but actually, no I didn't, Joan Baez did, and you should know that"!!!! Ever heard of google?

  • Pfft, Halford has one of the best voices in rock history.

Even Luciano Pavarotti himself said that Rob was one of the best singers ever.

  • @kranen1

well, but who's Luciano Pavarotti? I mean, if there was not Karajan to make him sing correctly... he wouldn' be none. Famous, but not bravo, not really a good singer. Domingo is, or Carreras. Not Pavarotti. (Sorry, i'm italian, i can speak ancient latin but my english is awful)

  • she's so amazing!

wish i had a time machine, go back 40 yers and marry her :)

  • thanks WFSSV. some question again. what did she say after my poetry is lousy you said at 1'34 and at 1'48 and at 2'57 ?

i like so much this video, and i wish to understand all what happened. i adore joan baez. She always tries to speach in french when she comes in France during interview and on tour, and we really appreciate that. She's a legend.

  • it's very funny. I'm french and don't understand what she said when she forget lyrics => 3.36 and 3.50

why she laught when she said it's all come back too clearly ?

and forty years ago, i bought you some cuffinks ?

    thans for yours answers

  • She said she hadn't been on tour for a while and implied that's why she forgot the lyrics. Then when she sang the lyrics "it's come back too clearly" she laughed because it obviously hadn't come back too clearly for her. This song is about her relationship with Bob Dylan in the very early 1960s. When she wrote the song in the mid-70s she said she'd given Dylan a gift of cuff links. Of course now it was thirty years after that so she had to sing 40 years ago.

  • she laughed at that coming back clearly thing because it matched the situation. the lyrics were coming back to her and the lyrics were just that... come back too clearly

and about the 40 years... those weren't the original lyrics, but she improvised because it's been 40 years since she wrote this song about bob dylan

  • Simply beautiful. What a gem. Who knew how funny she can be?

  • Even when she screws up the song Joan is ok. We still love her (and Dylan must have been an idiot not to do the same. Or maybe he does. Who can say about that vagabond?) She's the diamond and BD is the rust.

  • goddamnit... very good. thank you for sharing fabrizia. i love this song !

  • Joan is divine! And funny!P.S.The dog did alright as a backing vocal!:))

  • Thanks for sharing, i dont know what i would do without this information...

  • I'm sure Joan Baez to this day doesn't appreciate ignorant smart asses. So effing clever. Go watch your Britney tapes, slick!

  • Are you talking to me ? If yes, can you read ?

  • My apologies. Your comment made by an American would be interpreted as sarcasm. Often the expression "thanks for sharing that" is meant to said in a way to mean exactly the opposite. You are obviously not from the U.S. and your words were meant sincerely. I apologize for interpreting them through my own cultural filter. Danke schoen.

  • you are right. I am german :-)

  • yup and your testicles are shaped like bananas

  • perfect, in every way.

  • this video is priceless...what a class act!! wonder if dylan has seen it?dylan did not deserve her. he just used her to promote his career and then left her behind. how selfish he was back then. he was an unknown until she put him on stage. he treated her baaad! but we still love him so much! go figure.......

  • she is brilliance in human form

    thank you, Ms. Baez

  • thanks for sharing, that was amazing!! couldn`t stop laughing..

  • I have had and loved this album since it came

out. Yes album because my first copy was vinyl.

I now have the CD. What amazes me is that until seeing the vids, I did not know Joan played all

the intricate cords of this tune.

Awed by her voice, song writing and now guitar

playing and she does not have a record contract?? What's wrong with this picture???

  • I absolutely adore the laugh after having changed the lytrics to "40 years ago"

  • grande video .

  • ...a work of art

  • I forgot to mention in my comment below, that every time I play this video my three dogs bark in response to the dogs in the video.....lol.....and usually run to the window........woof woof woof - in doggie language that means - we love you Joan - you are the best.

    Saskia

  • I think was Chris Kristofferson who said Baez sings like a dying cat....

  • ssansa I don't think so, Kris and Joan are good pals, there is no way he would make such a comment - they have a great mutual respect for one another, and have been pals for many years. Get your facts right ssansa.

    Saskia

  • I Said "I think he was". Not for sure... thanks for your comment anyway.

  • No problem.

    Saskia

  • Kristofferson and Baez had a fling somwhere around 1970-71 or so and are still friends. If he said such a thing, he was probably being sarcastic.

  • Good on ya Joan, those dogs barking outside slightly distracted you :-) I love this song, and I loved the way you handled this situation, forgetting the words, and making fun. I've watched this video so many times, and love every minute of it.....yeah you've got the grammy......go girl.

    Love

    Sas

  • Lordy, yeah, awesome is the right word.

  • Damn but she's awesome!!!! :)

  • she makes me smile. this song is hauntingly beautiful.

  • haunting! I love her

  • great what can i say...

  • she the best female guitarist that if ever seen

  • Who can deny you,cheers

  • Hilarious!! Great performer and song!!

  • Simply beautiful. What a gem. Who knew how funny she can be?

  • Listen to the barking sounds in the background, it's the dirty dog ghost of Bob Dylan trying to fuck up her song again.

  • ...urrr...ruuf..ruffff...urrr...rruff...rufff...

  • Great Joan!

  • Joannie wrote this song.

  • love this, love her, love this song, love her humor, thank you Joan Baez

  • Haha, I love her, she's so funny.

  • Wish I would have had your seat! When was this? 2006?

  • Almost 50 years into her career and she's still got it.

  • ..perfect and so endearing, nothing

    insecure about Joan Baez.

  • you can tell she really still hurts over it all, joking put aside

  • she really is this cool ....buy a ticket if you get a chance

  • yes!

  • That was awesome...This maybe a dumb question but that song was written about Dylan right?

  • Dylan DID NOT WRITE Diamonds and Rust. Joan did. And yes it is about their relationship.

  • are you serious!! man if you think Bob Dylan wrote it then that shows what you know

  • Wonderful Joan - magical voice and guitar playing and even forgetting the words to her own song and being able to laugh at herself and with herself - this performance is a classic - she is simply the best.

    Saskia

  • She is just SOOOOOO adorable! Lovely funny moment. Joan, I love you!

  • Joan Baez and judi Collins, voices of angels.

  • still a beautiful voice after all of these years

  • Brilliant! I'll take the grammy...classic!

  • thank you....was waiting for a forty years ago....times are a changin'....long long time.

  • lol sweet moment.. lovely clip thanx for sharing.

  • What a fun video....how nice to see Joan laughing and so light-hearted.
