I never planned on getting such a big amp, ( 100w ) but it sounds so good at lower volumes, unlike the HRDx I had before the bassman 100, which the HRDx sounded horrible, The bassman is very very touch sensative, it responds asap with that chime, and when U hit the strings with more force it crowls, I love amps that respond to your touch like that, the HRDx never did that, I actually payed less for this amp than the HRDx, and this smokes the HRDx in every way like, killer tones, nice demo BTW
Ever try modding the HRDx? I had one for a while that had a Weber speaker in it (couldn't tell you what model) that was a LOT better than stock ones I'd played just from that one change. Well, the tubes weren't stock, but it's not like they were 1950's RCA either, so I was never quite sure how much of a change they were. Anyway, glad you're liking what you've got now, and thanks for posting!
It is funny but my SF bassman is 100 watts, & it sounds really really nice on about 2, when it is on 2 & a half it starts to shine, & 3 is the sweet spot for my garage use, I can get it on 4 in my garage as I live in a semi, & the neighbors R not to close, I normally av it on 3 tho, 1st time I head the amp, I thought this is the amp for me, classic fender clean sounds, chimey, bell sounding, never thought it would sound that way, but I fell in love with it asap
I have always been a big fan of reverb on the amps circuit, maybe I am wrong, but I always think it sounds more natural, does the reverb tank put the verb before the preamp stage ? sure I read some were this was the case, wish they were cheaper, as I would love one for my silverface bassman, I can live without reverb with my bassman, only because it rocks big time anyway, it is very very chimey and bell sounding, and has that lovely fender clean which starts to shine at 3
@UKToneKing you do run the tank in front of the amp...you could put it in an effects loop if your amp has one but most folks that use them end up playing older amps without the loop (in my experience).
