Thanks for the memories, from the Bronx. This was a one of kind band in those days. Cory Daye has a voice filled with honey. Simply the best then and now.
awesome tune! before i knew only one their song, famous Cherchez la femme, but the whole album is great, and Lemon in the honey is a real gem. So fabulous, easy and genius! The masterpiece of disco style.
Disco was and always will be the most fun time to live in. care free, living in the moment and dancing our butts off. This band is a perfect example of it. Wild and fun
This is one of the greatest albums of all time! Cory Daye is truly one of the most remarkable vocalist ever! DBOSB deserves soooo much more recognition for their contribution to music!

I haven't heard this album in years...I wa about 11 or 12 when this came out and I learned the lyrics to EVERY song on the album! This is classic music at it's best...And I still know the lyrics and I'm from the Bx too...
I heard their one song back in the late 70s as a kid , that just might be Cherchez Lafemme, it was a one off and I can't remember from where or how I caught their music, never knew their name, now many years later, technology of communication improves ridiculously and I discover a galour of their music. : )
this group had it all. the best. she has a unique voice and its almost off key till you realize thats just what she wants it to sound like. love cory and the rest!! rock on forever
Awesome band, lyrics that touch the heart and a melody that is unique to them, I too feel that this band was never understood except by those who truly have love and compassion in their hearts.
I'm 52 and my husband and I still dance to this type of "FANTABULOUS" music. Our son is 17 and he loves it.He says that they are actualy saying something that means something but that musical score is unreal. Why can't they do something like this anymore? Its called technology and cloning.I do not here anything remotely near this. His friends want to have a prom with this kind of music..I say yes and I will sign up to chaparone.
Corey Day got me started singing at age eleven when my big brother brought these records home when traveling in Coast Guard. I Love the sound and play it still alot. She helped mold me into the performer I am today! Love you Savannah Band. Forever!
I want to thank all you people who were probably at the same clubs i was when the dj's played these songs. I had a great time, no shootin', no lootin' no of the crazy shznit at clubs these days....and this is coming from somebody form the South Bronx....169th and Boston Road
Killer xylophone Coati M. Cory Daye is a vocal dream! Whatever happened to August Darnell? This was the record everyone was listening too in my day. Pure music, pure vocals and rythmn to die for. Thanks DBOSB for the best thing that happened to music since Glenn Miller.
@daverp1913 .....TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!!.....THIS WAS THE ERA OF THE LAST PURE BANDS/GROUPS.......THE VOCALS ARE SO PURE AND THE MUSIC IS FROM THE SOUL......IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC,NOW IT'S SALES AND FALSE IMAGE.......TODAY'S A&R'S SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES,BUT THEIR HEADS AND EGO'S ARE TOO BIG FOR THAT!!!
this song can live through any decade...Corey Daye's voice from heaven...band arrangements...classic words...spread the word on this song being on Youtube..just wish they had a video for this!!!!!!!!
Yes, yes, yes. That is my favourite song off "DB Meets King Penett." I was impressed how they used an orchestra to mimic the sound of traffic, sunk low in the mix! Real artistry. What lyrics too! : "Here the air reeks of lies, and even the robins sound warlike..." Incredible music that reached its apex on their stunning third album...reissue please!!
I swear i got chills when i read your reply, and almost cried when you quoted the song!(LOL)I'ts like there is this small group of people who understand, and "get" this group! Thanks for your comment!
"I'll tell you where it's at . My skies are baby blue." What great lyrics . They should have been allowed to make 10 more albums like this one.for us to enjoy. What a waste.
I love them! The lead singer went to my High school in the Bronx N.Y. James Monroe. So much talent came out of the Bronx back then including rap and graffitti.
I graduated in 1974. What good times those were. Partying in New York back then was a classic experience. I remember when Cory sang in the auditoruium in a play. She blew everybody away. So sad to hear Monroe is no more. It'll live on in my memories.
I remember being at the listening party for this album over at Warner Bros and the party at the Sunset Hyatt..I know it happened, I still have the pictures..best to august and andy..Rodney
love this whole album! I still have the original album and had to get it on cd a few years ago...now still listening to it on my ipod. Glad to see it here and gaining new fans. Thanks for posting!

Maaaannnnnn.....If you remember this shit you remember knock em sock em robots n double dutch....This ish is New York....I dont know anybody who knowz these songs but on the East...All but Ice Cube...He used one in Boyz N The Hood...
Is there a good, reliable site to get the lyrics of songs like these? I've been getting close for 25 years or so; it would be good to check against something, maybe the next afternoon or something...
Had the original album back in the late '70s, now have the cd and play it in the car all the time. This music takes me back to the good ole club days. Very classic and is still danceable to. Thanks for posting it!
