I don't think it's possible to put someone in a trance like that if they aren't even expecting (sub-consciously playing along).. I don't buy it.. it'd be more believable if they just spiked his drink.
Seems unrealistic, in a situation like this there is a possibility for things to go wrong such as what if he got physical e.g punching or swinging the gun like a bat or his friends freaked out and attacked the camera crew. But hey entertainment is entertainment!
The only real limitation with Hypnotism is the fact the it cant make you do something you don't want to do. For example they cant make you strip naked unless your comfortable with it. I honestly doubt this is fake,
If this isn't fake, and the guy wasn't in on it, then this has got to be illegal. You can't have arcade machines that knock you out and have you prone to kidnapping. The least anyone could do is steal everything on you- the worst, well you could have your organs harvested.
@Yamikaiba123 This is England.. They don't have the same problems with this kind of stuff as America. we ARE talking about a country where a guy popularized double-slapping someone in the face and running off without getting into legal trouble.
@bendy3d Well, there'd be a heck of a big problem if this technique worked, (as I described in my comment). That's why I'm inclined to think this is fake.
idk i think it was fake. reason being is, what if he started to literally punch and kick the people playing the zombies? Let alone hit them with the friggen paintball gun...Did they not take that into consideration?
What this video has taught me is to not be alarmed if my friend goes inexplicably limp and a strange man begins to drag him away as long as there are cameras nearby.
@heartofwolf12 That's what inclines me to think this is fake to an extent. From what I've heard, you can't hypnotize someone if they aren't trying to be hypnotized.
@roebuck767 I definitely know that you can't hypnotize someone who doesn't want to be hypnotized, and that 1/4 people can't be hypnotized even if they want to (has to do with their psychology I guess). I don't know how it works though if someone is unaware of the hypnosis.
I don't think it is fake- but rather a simple- you get an epileptic knockout from it and someone wakes you up LITERALLY in the environment. It would be the same as if you clocked him on the head and did the same thing, wouldn't that be your reaction if you were woken in a room with zombies?
@sour0deez The thing is; don't you have to be epileptic for flashes like that to knock you out? I've watched movies with at least as much violent flashing than that.
Did they ever think how this could have gone horribly wrong? Considering the pop-culture of zombies and our familiarity with them, I wouldn't have bothered wasting bullets. While the horde was still small I would have used the butt stock of the gun to bash in brains...basically, I might have killed someone because of some "funny hypnotist stuff".
these are the worst friends ever, "oh high im a creepy guy who has been videoing you, now im going to take your friend, who buy the way i just put into a hypnotic state, is that ok" "sure what could possibly go wrong" this is how real horror stories start people!!!
@philbio66 Then those videos are fake. No one can ever be hypnotized against their will. If someone is completely against being hypnotized, they won't be. A person needs to be relatively relaxed for one for hypnotized and someone against being hypnotized is not going to be relaxed. It's common sense and common psychology that it's physically impossible to hypnotize against a person's will.
I don't belíeve this. Srsly, I have never seen a real person infront of me getting hypnozed, and untill I see one, or until I myself get hypnozed, then this is all bullshit to me, but even if this is (or not but I don't think it's real) fake it's still pretty nice done. And I would sue those guys for doing that if this was real...
@MrTheBestVideoMaker Then go to a hypnotist show? It doesn't work very well on me personally, but a couple of my friends have been hypnotized and I don't see why they would lie about it. This video doesn't have the full episode; Derren explains what happened to him at the end and he thought it was funny.
"Hypnotism" is more common than people realize. When you're watching a movie and when you're sympathizing with someone, you're putting yourself in a trance-like state. You can feel it when you have to land yourself into reality after staring a the screen for a bit, or when someone enters the room while you're working on something and you have no idea how they got there. Derren Brown exploits this.
It's not necessarily weak willed people who get hypnotized. If a person doesn't want to be hypnotized, they won't be. Nobody can be hypnotized against their will. It's people who are able to lose themselves easiest that can get hypnotized. For example, people who daydream a lot and people who, when read books, are completely absorbed in it and lose sense of the outside world. Most people fall between the small percent who are very hypnotizable and people who can never be hypnotized.
@soccerweasel6 Ah I see. So basically if you're a weak Christian cunt and someone clicks their hands behind your head or chants 'sleeeeep' Dark City style, you'll drop out cold?
But if you've got a brain in your head and you're thinking 'nah, this won't work', nothing will happen?
All I can say is the guy who got punk'd in this video is a pissant cunt, then!
Fairly interesting stuff, but what if the guy freaked shit and realized the gun was a fake and started beating the crap out of the "zombies". Now that would have been good.
@Kicken07 Before you so casually so this is fake, look up "Derren Brown" and watch some of his other stuff. He seems to stake his reputation on *all* of this being hypnosis, redirection, showmanship, . . . but none of it being "fake".
@gregconquest I'll invite Derrin Brown to my place and see if he can make me drop out cold with a click of his fingers. I'd bet him all his money he couldn't. Sorry, this isn't Dungeons and Dragons. Get a grip on reality, you weak as piss cunt.
If you look at the rest of Derren Brown's stuff, you'll realize that it is actually not fake, and it takes a very good understanding of psychology. His "person swap" trick is especially awesome and plays heavily on how our brain processes information.
And those of you thinking it's fake, just because that's beyond your knowledge about consciousness and sub-consciousness, you are probably ignorant and ignorant not about science - but about yourselves in the first place.
forgot our knowledge of consciousness, we talkin our knowledge of common sense. you tellin me his friends went along with this. they could go to jail for this, kidnapping
For those who think that you cannot induce trance on a person through a video game google "Pokémon episodes removed from rotation", that was a scandal in Japan when some flashes in cartoons aired on television caused damage for kids watching it. From Wikipedia article: "Scientists believe that the flashing lights triggered photosensitive seizures in which visual stimuli such as flashing lights can cause altered consciousness."
1. The 2 friends of the payer didn't protest to the "experiment" or the "kidnapping", and rather watched it quite silently and enthusiastically. Highly unnatural behavior for any normal person.
2. A person being carried in stretcher on the street and so much commotion, chaos, shouting going on in a building never drew attention of passerbys/neighbours/police/security.
3. The "lab-rat person" never sued the experimentalist even after watching this clip!
so basically people just don't understand anything about hypnotic or mind related stuff come here and just say it's fake without giving any evidence or good argument ... hmmm ...
funny how people judge things they dont understand as fake just because they dont understand it.
Thought this was going to be a lot cooler, pretty dissapointed. Not sure about anyone else, but if a friend of mine appeared to pass out, helping a random stranger kidnap him wouldn't be the first thing I'd think of. Wouldn't he have fallen over too/not been able to hold the gun while "hypnotised"? And how stupid would you have to be to not realize that gun in no way resembles a real one.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you can not hypnotize someone and make them do something that that strongly goes against their moral code. Obviously this guy does not have a real problem with killing or he would not have done it.
Incorrect. If someone was coming towards you in a darkened room with intent to harm you, I think your worry about taking another's life would vanish quite quickly.
So most people on this vid seem to think this is fake, yet on the vid where he buys a ring from a jewelery shop for 4500 dollars with blank paper,. everybody on that thread seems to think its real?
So umm? I dont get it. do people think his vids are full of shit? or do people think he's legit?
Um, actually it is 100 percent, all natural, grade A hypnosis. I get confused when people say that hypnosis is "fake." My brother just so happens to be a certified Master Hypnotist and Hypnotherapist. If you only think that Hypnosis is an "abomination unto the Lord", well... you're just another All-American drop in the ocean of Christian ignorance.
I suggest you shatter your mental, social, and spiritual shackles and liberate yourself from your delusional prison void of personal freedom.
isanynamenottaken1-- I'm actually a christian myself and I don't see anything wrong with hypnotism, nor can I find anything in the Bible that says there is anything wrong with it.
And the first part of your comment is absolutely right, I don't think I could have said it any better myself (minus the ignorance part though ^_^)
Although this video was in good fun this video proves mind control is real.
For example when the subject went back to the arcade game after being IN the game he never realized he was IN the game until they showed him the video.
It reminded me of the MK ultra experiments and of Surhan Surhan who to this day doesnt remember killing RFK....just food for thought.
While hypnosis is real it can not be done via a videogame and unwillingly. The video here is a hoax and fraud, as all are of brown's videos. Ever seen the one with the gun? According to the local police there was no danger of anybody getting hurt, meaing there were no live or even blank rounds.
@Isanynamenottaken1 I ain't religious, but I don't see how someone saying 'when I do such and such, you'll fall asleep' will work. Seriously. Clicking your fingers behind my head and I'm meant to drop out cold? I find that hard to believe. It's about as make believe as religion is.
@Isanynamenottaken1 You're telling me God isn't real (obviously never heard of the cosmological argument obviously) and that you can hypnotize someone via a videogame to a point where he can no longer differentiate the reality from it and finds the experience amusing afterwards. Amusing.
I'm pretty sure the hypnosis via video game aspect of it was staged for the theatrics. The subject/volunteer was probably hypnotized in advance and then some sort of trigger mechanism was used to put him back into trance or the "sleep state" of trance.
He claims to only use psychology to do his tricks, so why do you call him a magician? There is a lot of real and awsome tricks he does in his shows, but i am disapointed of the fakeness of this one.
Sure, you're right to question it. It does not have to be fake... I mean... It's not easy to understand why flickering light can recall attacks to people suffering from epeleptism. I know to little about it to stick my nose out and call it a fake. Though... It could be. And I guess that's the amusement of Derren Brown. If someone tells me 4+4=12 I will deny it and say it's not. Cause I have the knowledge. Find out more about this and convience me in any way that it's fake.
I don't get the point of this "trick". I mean what does it prove?
I would have thought that anyone - when suddenly awakening in such a scenario- would try to get out, panic (to a lesser or greater degree) and then fight with any weapons provided. (That's also another reason for providing the gun - if they hadn't done so the victim would have used anything he could have found (like a table leg, chair etc), thereby really hurting the actors.
For the victim, this all must seem like a (bad) dream.
I was thinking the same thing. Also he played the game differently, here he just tries to get out. The only thing that is weird that he assumes they are zombies but maybe that is because the girl lying next to him when he woke up was making it feel like a horror situation.
It's certainly a interesting idea but I don't think that hypnosis or whatever had any effect on him while in the simulation. The only thing that had effect was that he fel in some sort of trance so they could move him.
what do you mean 'whats the point?' Its amazing, both how a man can convin ce another man of this and how a man can be convinced of thinkign and doing this. I think your mistaken, that must have been an amazing experience for the zombie killin guy
I think he means it's odd because if it was supposed to go just as in the game and he wouldn't try to flee but to kill everything just like he was doing before he came in that trance.
it's a normal reaction but the idea was for him to play the game in real life not just listen to his instincts and get out of there
It's interesting to see how all rationality is thrown out the window. He ought to notice the window not breaking, or the limited recoil from the gun - but I imagine if you really were that panic stricken you wouldn't notice.
how do you know ,what you would have done if this would happen to you nobody can prepare you for the dead coming at you because they keep coming and coming and they'll never stop
everyone THINKS that they'd shit themself, or cry, if this happened to them. but when presented with the ACTUAL situation, most people's self-preservation and survival instincts would kick in, and they'd react much the same way. trippy shit though.
Man...it was funny when the dead zombies scramble up to their feet at the end of the game...I was ready to scream actually but I went out laughing when I see the waking zombies...hahahaha...man this is so freaky...its a really good prank to put on your friends...especially on halloween night..

"Derren Brown Zombie Video Arcade Game Hypnotism"
SavagesInMyTown 2 years ago 2
air gun, im guessing the blood packets where triggered by the actors themselves or by special effects guys from that massive crew in the room
nihilnoise 2 years ago
Um, actually it is 100 percent, all natural, grade A hypnosis. I get confused when people say that hypnosis is "fake." My brother just so happens to be a certified Master Hypnotist and Hypnotherapist. If you only think that Hypnosis is an "abomination unto the Lord", well... you're just another All-American drop in the ocean of Christian ignorance.
I suggest you shatter your mental, social, and spiritual shackles and liberate yourself from your delusional prison void of personal freedom.
Isanynamenottaken1 2 years ago 19
isanynamenottaken1-- I'm actually a christian myself and I don't see anything wrong with hypnotism, nor can I find anything in the Bible that says there is anything wrong with it.
And the first part of your comment is absolutely right, I don't think I could have said it any better myself (minus the ignorance part though ^_^)
13Knives1 2 years ago
Although this video was in good fun this video proves mind control is real.
For example when the subject went back to the arcade game after being IN the game he never realized he was IN the game until they showed him the video.
It reminded me of the MK ultra experiments and of Surhan Surhan who to this day doesnt remember killing RFK....just food for thought.

This video proves there are people willing to believe this bullshit.
Really, if you think this was real, you're in for a reality check.
aarrcchhoonntt 2 years ago
While hypnosis is real it can not be done via a videogame and unwillingly. The video here is a hoax and fraud, as all are of brown's videos. Ever seen the one with the gun? According to the local police there was no danger of anybody getting hurt, meaing there were no live or even blank rounds.
aarrcchhoonntt 2 years ago
it depends on the person.
you can induce someone into a catatonic shock.
nihilo9 2 years ago 2
@Isanynamenottaken1 I ain't religious, but I don't see how someone saying 'when I do such and such, you'll fall asleep' will work. Seriously. Clicking your fingers behind my head and I'm meant to drop out cold? I find that hard to believe. It's about as make believe as religion is.
ReturnedGrazzt 1 year ago
@Isanynamenottaken1 You're telling me God isn't real (obviously never heard of the cosmological argument obviously) and that you can hypnotize someone via a videogame to a point where he can no longer differentiate the reality from it and finds the experience amusing afterwards. Amusing.
someman7 1 year ago
@someman7 the cosmological argument is bullshit. youve obviously never heard of the big bang.
epona202 1 year ago
@epona202 you've obviously never heard of the cosmological argument. either that, or you didn't understand it.
someman7 1 year ago
@someman7
I'm pretty sure the hypnosis via video game aspect of it was staged for the theatrics. The subject/volunteer was probably hypnotized in advance and then some sort of trigger mechanism was used to put him back into trance or the "sleep state" of trance.

It's funny how people constantly feel the need to call fake in regards to a magician. No shit Sherlock.
SpFiota 3 years ago
He claims to only use psychology to do his tricks, so why do you call him a magician? There is a lot of real and awsome tricks he does in his shows, but i am disapointed of the fakeness of this one.
tottycs 3 years ago
@tottycs

Meisterdieb 3 years ago 2
I was thinking the same thing. Also he played the game differently, here he just tries to get out. The only thing that is weird that he assumes they are zombies but maybe that is because the girl lying next to him when he woke up was making it feel like a horror situation.
It's certainly a interesting idea but I don't think that hypnosis or whatever had any effect on him while in the simulation. The only thing that had effect was that he fel in some sort of trance so they could move him.
nostalgggg 3 years ago
i really dont believe that he noticed that he was in the same game i personally think he thought it was a random outburst of a daydream

what do you mean 'whats the point?' Its amazing, both how a man can convin ce another man of this and how a man can be convinced of thinkign and doing this. I think your mistaken, that must have been an amazing experience for the zombie killin guy

Odd that his first reaction is to escape, rather then try and combat the threat with the tools provided.
RenovatedLocksmith 3 years ago
How is that odd? when in the fight or flight mode, most peoples first instincts are to escape.
ResinBreath 3 years ago 3
I think he means it's odd because if it was supposed to go just as in the game and he wouldn't try to flee but to kill everything just like he was doing before he came in that trance.
it's a normal reaction but the idea was for him to play the game in real life not just listen to his instincts and get out of there

FALCO64125 3 years ago
It's interesting to see how all rationality is thrown out the window. He ought to notice the window not breaking, or the limited recoil from the gun - but I imagine if you really were that panic stricken you wouldn't notice.

It's mindbending the audience with a belief that you could be hypnotized to a trance by bright flashes. Fake, not so sadly.

everyone THINKS that they'd shit themself, or cry, if this happened to them. but when presented with the ACTUAL situation, most people's self-preservation and survival instincts would kick in, and they'd react much the same way. trippy shit though.
