You need to pick up a history book. Democrats were the party of the south and republicans were the party of the north during the civil war so abolition was a republican "idea". Not to mention democrats were the party that passed the Jim crow laws and filibustered the civil rights movement. Democracy was a Greek idea and free speech is a god given right. Over time the definition of liberalism has changed. During the times of John Locke, Francis Hutcheson,Adam Smith, Jefferson and Adams to be liberal meant for one to be generous and it meant when applied to govt that the government was generous of freedom and not restrictive of freedom. Today liberal means to restrict freedom by more and more laws.

The socialist had tarnished their name with the proven failure of their ideology, so they just keep reinventing themselves by calling themselves something different. According to libertarianism, a true liberal would be opposed to the welfare state and social spending. A true liberal would support capitalism. If you find the time, do some reading and educate yourself on "metaphysics," particularly the libertarian/capitalist philosophy and the socialist/communist philosophy. Then apply a little critical thought.

No one is advocating communism but rather welfare capitalism where we have a "free market" but also allow those a social safety net for those at the bottom! While I appreciate the creativity of a 'conservation rap group' you must understand the difficulty of having people take you seriously with the conservative party's stance with the youth, rap, and to be frank- a percentile of anti-black conservative Americans.
