The more complex the bone graft, the more risk that you could have a complication. Most implant surgeons will be able to treat you succesfully. The flipper should look 'ok." Keep in mind that this is a short term sacrafice for a long term benefit. Hang in there!

Also, I am very nervous about the "flipper" apparatus I'll have to wear for 4-6 months while the bone graft does its thing. I don't want to be self conscious about my smile, and my fear is that the fake teeth on this thing are going to look totally obvious. Please tell me this isn't the case. I am very concerned for my psychological health in the coming months. I had such a great smile. Perfect teeth. A car crash ruined it. Thanks for your help.
I am a 26 year old male in good health who in 3 weeks time will be getting 2 teeth (7 & 8) extracted because of a failed root canal and subsequent infection. After meeting with my oral surgeon today he told me I had lost too much bone for an immediate implant so I have to get this bone grafting procedure done. He said it's not a for sure thing that it will be successful. Won't know for several months. He's using a human donor for the graft. In your experience, how often do bone grafts fail?
