  • that bandwith saving is of course correct and clever, i already thought of that when observing the flash player's loading months ago. but today on many videos it loads with like 80KB/s (HD video), plays like 5 seconds, then makes a pause again. seems like the flash player is not communicating with servers correctly.

i hope they fix this and put the buffering point like1m ahead of the playing video.

good to know that im not the only one too, haha. :) thanka!

  • derek dude - do you know whats wrong?

for like a month youtube sucks ass when sending video.

when i use tools like easyYoutubeDownloader (firefox addon lets you download with a little rol u bar next to the video) the speeds i get are my max speeds and the video is here in no time.

but the youtube flash player is much much slower! often i just download the video instead of watching it in the flash player. :( 180KB/s inside browser, 3.8 MB/s when downloading... whats wrong?

  • @M3G4G0TH I'm pretty sure they're cutting it close, staying (hopefully) just ahead of the buffering point to conserve bandwidth. Suppose you watch one minute of a 50 minute video but during that time your connection gobbles it all up. If it was my site I'd view that as wasted bandwidth. It's good you noticed a change too; it's so hard to say if it's an issue with my ISP / some server in between / Google's servers, but apparently it's not just me.

  • Haha. Nice. *Thumbs Up*

  • This is my new favorite video ever. Literally, i was laughing out loud for most of the time. Fan-freaking-tastic
