@BeccaBasilisk yea this! lol Im thinking of buying one and im searching for a video showing how this @free.kindle. com stuff works, please please please provide us two with an answer.
Hey I notice that you have a file about Final Fantasy and Philosophy. That's quite nice. I have quick question: How the pdf reading is going? Since you made this video a long time ago I would like to know if you are having good or bad time reading pdf on the Kindle 3. I'm intending to buy one eReader to read pdf math books on it, and I'm trying to figure out which one is the best. Thanks.
@Erinath, What is the screen size of the kindle on the video? Can you make notes on the pdf (e.g. add bookmarks, hightlight text)? Is the change to pdf in kindle compatible to pc acrobat pdf reader?
Thanks for such a great video. I searched forums and reviews for ages trying to find answers to viewing pdfs and you managed to sum it up perfectly in a quick vid :-) thanks.
@emkcus1 Why in the HELL would I pay for a book on Amazon that costs 4.99 when the same book is available for .99 on BN? Amazon, and the Kindle, sucks. Check it out yourself. Type in anything, on both sites; download the apps for it on your PC. You will find, after a while, what costs what. Amazon sucks, no doubt about it.
How about scans of book pages in PDF? In school we work from scanned chapters (like an image of two pages at once) . Im thinking about the kindle to cut down on printing as computer screen reading tires my eyes. I'm worried about an open book copy not being able to fit the size of the kindle though...thoughts? id like to see the bulk of the page without a lot of navigation. Don't really have the funds for dx. Could the y concert a scan of a book? And what about footnotes?
guys; i'm considering the kindle over the dx for reading pdfs... I was thinking that since the kindl3 lacks the size when holding normally; why not view the pdfs on landscape view (sacrificing some vertical space) in order to not zoom as much.
But I don't know how this will effect my hands in the long run (reading in landscape view). Has anyone tried this and have any comments if it wont strain the hand/s.
Doe's anyone know any way to go to specific pdf's page. It's kinda frustrating then you have 500 pages and the thing you want to read is say on page 434. Any ideas?
Great! You can read perfectly a JSTOR scanned paper such as Bouwsma's Mistery of Time. Bouwsma is not my cup of tea, but by the way I'll can read philosophy without tons of paperbacks and sheets. I'll buy it. Thanks for the review.
Hello and thank you for posting the videos! Can you tell me (or someone) if the kindle has a search mode for words like in adobe acrobat reader? And, for example, if I have a pdf with 1000 pages, can the kindle go directly from page 1 to page..900..or someting?.. thanks!
I've been searching around trying to find what a PDF looks like when converted to the Kindle format - looks fine to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this vid.
just want to say that another way of reading your simple PDF's is to convert them to TXT on your Adobe Reader, Save as TXT and drag and drop on your Kindle. This is not a solution for files with pictures and graphs though. Only good if you have novels in PFD format. I made a bad video on how to do it. Works wonderful for those files with TXTS that are way too small to read.
Nice video. And I'm pleasantly surprised at your choice of reading material. I can count on one hand how many people I know that read about the philosophy of time, and that includes professors!
@fatbastard74 It is a foundamental branch of contemporary metaphysics. Unfortunately all metaphysicians in the world are part of "Counted on One Hand People" Society :)
Can you please try a PDF file thats has tables and images and let us know how it works wtih those ? I'd like to be sure about the support for them before i order mine ..
@sdhummer Thanks for the suggestion - I'll try to do another video tomorrow demonstrating the larger font sizes and voice guide (spoken menus & descriptions)
@sdhummer you just have to send your PDFs documents to your free email @kindle.com with subject line "convert" (without quotes) for it to be converted to kindle format, and then the text-to-speech function is available.
@ponytailguy I've just watched the video back & it does make the buttons being pressed sound a lot louder than they actually do. To double check I was even pressing the buttons at the same time & I promise it is much quieter than that video makes it seem.
@steftymo I didn't get a cover or sleeve as they didn't have any I liked the look of. I'm sort of wishing now I had though, as am concerned about the kids getting their hands on it.
@akabenoit3 I tried Yahoo mail as well, the first time round it locked my Kindle up really badly. Second time round it wouldn't let me enter Yahoo mail as the Web Browser is unable to establish a secure connection.
Thanks for the video, PDF was one function that I was interested in. Please can you demonstrate the Experimental Browsing and your opinion on it. Thank You

Mobipocket was bought by Amazon in 2005
Go on youtube and watch
Tutorial MobiPocket Reader (2003)
than compare to your Kindle 2011
and see what Amazon has done for you in past 6 years.
It is INCREDIBLE

I'm back with a solution for email.
You can have email with the kindle by using the Mobile version of the mail site.
ex:
m(dot)gmail(dot)com
m(dot)yahoo(dot)com (from there choose Mail at the upper right)
or
m(dot)yahoo(dot)com/mail
Hope this helps :)
