wow...that seems strong....as a response....I will have you know I was in DC and heard that capitol steps concert and I was impressed...however, I think the statement worlds finest big band is over the top...what about the band that meets on Mondays at the Garage in NYC or the Vanguard band....or any number of big bands in NYC... I heard the Julliard undergrad big band and it was amazing...I wish there was a big battle of the big bands in nY Cand DC
worlds best???? Are U for real....I have heard highschool bands here in NYC better then this....I do not doubt these are some good musicians but...Seems like the goverment needs to spend my TAX DOLLARS BETTER!!!!! 15 musicians salaries from my taxes...OUCH!!! They probably only work a few hours a week....if BUSH wants more money LOOK HERE FIRST!!!!
Acctually, your tax dollars are well spent. You can not put a price tag on the pride americans feel when they hear these groups play. For that matter, the diplomatic benefits alone are worth the small ammount that the Government spends on these programs.
funny you assume I am a musician......I work in IT here in NYC this email is in honor of my Dad played trumpet for fun all his life ...I never played (professionally...just have a great appreciation of music. after my last post I spoke to several military musicians in DC was told the work week is 10-15 hours.I am not sure what you mean by I would never make this band I would hope not.all I am saying is this is not the worlds best big band.there are pick up bandin NYC that out play these guys
You should read you comments from four months ago. You compare this group, many have a Masters in Music, to a High School Band. I honestly think that you did not talk to anyone in that group before stating incorrect facts about their work week. For some reason you like to make statements you can not support and should just not comment next time.
actually i did talk to several people in the band and the schedule is as follow.....M-F rehearsals 11-1 but off on days of gigs and off the next day... maybe one full band gig a week..then extra duty kind of stuff..Navy Work..administrative like. I was told by a current member that they can have 3 or 4 days off in a row sometimes and maybe a gig and then 3 day weekends.....so as far as facts go....this is accurate from the US Navy Band themselves
i saw them playing her in homestead florida. They were amazing.
