One of My Friends had a Role on "GOMER PYLE , U.S.M.C." (He was also on the Pilot Episode , which was Part of "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW") , and was-fired ... His Character was "eliminated" , and a New Character was "created". RONNIE SCHELL got the Part.
I know that his effect on women was considered almost hysterical by the station that ended up stopping his show over it. I wonder if it was because he was actually African American, and not Indian?
The co-host is right: He does have a very nice speaking voice but then I think it may have taken away some of the mystique, probably unintentional, of his on-screen persona had he spoken to the camera. I'm a big fan of exotica - Martin Denny and Les Baxter - and yet Korla trumps them all.

Ronny Schell was from Albany, California. He was a regualr at the old Purple Onion club in San Francisco.
Great hearing him talking about "The Good Old Days".

I'm surprised no one ever created a funny animal parody named the Korlit Panda?
But I'm not from L.A.
