A foot of snow is not a blizzard.
If you live in Michigan, you will really see what a REAL blizzard is..

A foot of snow is a lot of snow for a big city like Boston. Maybe it's not a lot of snow for places in the middle of nowhere in Michigan, but for Boston and most populated cities it is a decent amount of snow.
