That was beautiful. i am around people with dementia every week, and it is just sad that there is not enough people out there to spend this kind of quality time with those with dementia. I almost fell out of my seat when Gladys started singing. :)
What a beautiful moment to see them singing together. Thank you for sharing!

I am grateful that I work at Country Meadows where we are provided with Validation training and can become certified to use validation as an associate. I wish that more companies offered this training.
This was such an awesome video. It really show how one parson can really reach out and touch another who is in need. How great that there are people who can show their love for another in this way. How beautiful it is.
I love it, when the lady started singing. Wow thats great! But if I do this at work ( I ork with Alzheimer patients ) I sure get fired. Too bad, because a lot of people need this to make any contact.
WOW... I am studying to become a personal carer and we are up to the module "Provide and support to people living with Dementia" Our trainer told us to go home and look up this video and then email her with our reactions... I am just totally blown away.. I work with the elderly every day and a lot of them have dementia or are showing signs of it, and to see this video and see how Naomi connects with this lady is just amazing!! This has given me a whole new way to approach this illness. amazing!
I guess it was about 10 yrs ago, I attended a conference for Directors of Nurses in Long Term Care. This method that she described and the video presentations that I saw, changed my outlook on life, geriatrics, and my own personal values. What amazing and vital information. This should be taught in nursing and medical schools everywhere.
I guess like many people who attended the Alzheimer Cafe on the Isle of Wight tonight I immediately came home and searched and re-visited this as this was shown as part of presentation.
I wish this had 28million hits instead of 28000!
Thank you for uploading such an incredible and inspirational video.
Many patients and their family's do not realise that they can reclaim any fees that have been paid out of their own pocket for ongoing care for a loved one. Even if the patient has passed away, the family can still reclaim their lost inheritance.
Families who have loved ones suffering with alzheimers and other debilitating illnesses should contact us without delay and let us get the ball rolling for you. We operate a 'no win no fee' and there are no upfront charges to make either.
This is a wonderful display that people suffering from dementia are still reachable. Even though they may seem distant and in their own world, we are still able to reach out and meet them where THEY are. Wonderful job Naomi!! You inspire me to do my job better!!
extraordinaire !!! Naomie, une femme incroyable !!! que de moment partager avec elle durant la formation. Merci de nous avoir fait partager la validation.
Come on now wusundowma, learn to have a little human compassion and understanding. The good this video can do in being inspirational and instructional to people with family in this position is worth far more than your petty concerns over legalistic concerns such as consent.
I want to say something nice, but with all due respect, isn't it terribly invasive and -- I don't know -- gratuitous to film a deeply personal interaction of this kind and show it to complete strangers?
Feil seems like a saint, but I wonder if it's okay for us to watch this poor old woman struggle through the terminal phase of her life as though the whole thing were a television drama acted out for our benefit. Mrs. Wilson cannot possibly consent to being filmed and displayed.
@wusundowma it looked to me like she was annoyed when she was batting at Naomi's shoulder. lol i'm no expert, just sayin. i work w/ dementia patients, and i try to avoid getting right up in their faces, since i wouldn't want someone doing that to me. but everybody's unique, maybe Miss Wilson is different.
naomi, have time for the old people, but we havent time to made somethimg, its good to see this video but in the reality it is much much different!!!!!!!!!! sry my english:)
it is wonderful that this video and naomi teaches you not to give up on people and that everybody needs somebody .
