It's not all good when they're puppies. They may look like little cute dolls, but if you don't train them or walk them, they'll get out of hand and be another statistic to be in the RSPCA kennels.

Yes, i do know that i have a border collie right now, hes 3, right weight,right everything, he has about 3 walks a day, morning, evening and night.

And he has alote of toys, we treat him well.

and my mum had a westie whem she was 5 to 19 and it had cancer so she had to put it down because it was in to much pain.

Thats a brill life spam for a westie.

I love dogs.

so i do know how to treat one thanks,

i'd never treat a dog badley, its just out of order.

I love my westie :) I have a scottie as well, two VERY different personalities. The scottie is not nearly as playful as my westie, and I must admit my westie is a hell of a lot cuter. I love my westie <3 :)

@PopDaddySmackums I Know =[ my buddy SAM is on a Blue Buffalo diet and it sucks because i have to watch everything he eats or he"ll start the ITCHING!! Also the there is a allergy test you can get on him buck that will surly put a dent in your wallet. Lets just say i work at a vet Hospital and get 75% off of everything and that test is still around 300 bucks.

We got our Westie at 12 weeks, he's now closing in on 6 months. He was past 4 months before both ears stood up most of the time but he can still pin them back like a cat when he gets into full terrier mode. I am constantly amazed how smart this little dog is, how quickly he learns and his instinctive stalking and chasing abilities. He is quite the physical specimen in spite of his size. It's our first Westie, but not our first terrier - previously had a wire hair fox and an Airedale.

Reaperkiller17- You shouldn't take home a puppy thats less than 8 weeks old. If the puppy hasnt been with its mother until atleast 8 weeks, it could develop aggression and some other irreversable traits.

fight them back and take control of the situation quickly. never let the westie take the upper hand b/c it's almost as if they know when they have it... just be firm with them and 'bite' them back with your hand if they try to bite at you.

yeah, brehuh is right. dogs will check you every few years, trying to become the alpha. it's natural. you have to show him that you are still the alpha and that you always will be. it might sound mean, but the dog *wants* to know his place. it doesn't matter if he's alpha or not, he needs to know where he stands and it's your job to show him.

Haha My westie does the same thing.. In the middle of playing, He stops to smell something. Than raises one leg all the time.. But if you play with him right after he eats.. He pukes 100% of the time. Anyone else have this issue? He eats.. goes right to get the toy.. if you p,ay with him he pukes

Well puking is better than the thing dogs like Great Danes get when they play after they eat-their stomach twists over and it could lead to death. I don't think it really happens with Westies, but I would be careful anyway.
