in public pools we also have to shower and clean before we enter the public pool and theres also an disinfection area which you most go through walking to kill all kind of bacteria and dirt on your feet.
people dont go dirty to the public pool area in the "the WEST", maybe only anglosaxon "WEST" world but i doubt that too cuz its disgusting.
and the pre-cleaning part in front of everyone shown in this video is weird and disgusting too, we have closedoff showering/cleaning areas.
@scatcoitusmoosic Um.... you missed something. Before soaking in a public or family bath together with others, you first clean your body quite well. The object of bathing here, is not to get clean - you're already very clean before you hit the bath water. The point is to relax, and to spend time with other people. Bathing in Japan is a social occasion, where people can relax and relate to each other in a natural way, without consideration or rank or social status.
@scatcoitusmoosic you take a shower BEFORE entering a bath in Japan. Bathing in Japan is not intended to wash your body... You wash first than you bath!

@scatcoitusmoosic notice that they clean themselves thoroughly before entering the water, and its no different from swimming in a public pool
