Lady Liberty was a Marketing ploy to get poor imigrants to the States to work in slave like conditions with no rights. The Aristocracy has manipulated the poor for thousands of years. The Bourgeoise are their soldiers. Nothing has changed.

One professor who testified made the point, we are losing hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas. These people can scale down into the physical labor market, but for the people who are native to this market, they can't scale up.

This means the blue collar workers have to compete against each other, illegal immigrants, and people who are displaced due to globalization.

I agree the US is a country of immigrants, but labor shortage you speak of is not in the job market most illegals fit into.

The majority of immigrants come from south of the boarder, and are competing in the same job market as our blue collar work force. My lost his $20 per hour construction job, to illegals who were happy to work for $12.
