Large parts of Mexico are a desert. Additional large parts of Mexico have NEVER had much rainfall at all. Add to that, the idiotic Catholics that wouldn't use birth control if they had it, to those that can't afford it, nor have access to it, and you're NATURALLY going to have high infant mortality rates and malnutrition.

Its a natural disaster, it has very little to do with politics.

Unfortunatley, the indigenous populations are left fogotten or at the end of the to do list with most governments. God bless the indigenous of Mexico, and may the government act in a sense of emergency, for lives are at stake here.

@Yaterde My father is mixed race (European and Indigenous)... Mexico's past presidents were diverse, most of them were white or mestizo. There has even been an indigenous president. Fox's paternal grandfather was born in Cincinnati, but he was the son of German immigrants to the U.S. (Fox is the anglicized form of Fuchs).

@buhitiow No doubt some do but I was surprised by how rural it was. I'm Canadian though and once I realized the word indigenous was in the report I knew it was like comparing people from Toronto to those who live in an isolated, rural, reservation area. I hope the government of Mexico meets the needs of those people as I also hope the government of Canada will meet the needs of our indigenous people.

@MsColdCanada Yes, some kids here in the big cities, have a hard time understanding how people can live like that so i guess it's kind of normal when you're used to a life style, hopefuly this will rise some awareness (doubt it) and the govermnment increases the aid that they give to this beautiful cultures that are close to extintion...
