  • Totally awesome footage. I love Thunder Hole but wouldn't of wanted to be on the steps that day. Bye Bye Lobsterlady. Seriously, awesome.

  • i live like 10-15 miles away from this and the place is amazing a lot of the times though it kinda sucks because the water isn't rough or anything but like

slipknot12366 said it is kinda lame most of the time

  • idk living here on on mdi well i would think u guys know mdi is where acadia, i dont find all these things amazing but i gess i can see times like this where it would be cool to watch

  • holy shit!

  • Luckily 2 were saved - coast guard rescue, little girl died. Sooo sad. I've been there NUMEROUS times - every summer growing up, and almost every summer as an adult. I went and viewed it - at night - when Hugo passed by. We were getting soaked ON THE ROAD, and could see the swells coming - scary stuff. DH, DD, DS and I went last summer , it was quite calm - boring almost - until a random HUGE wave rolled in soaked us. I'm grateful - it could have been worse.

  • NEVER, EVER, underestimate the power of the Sea!!

Do that????? And she will kill you DEAD!!!!

  • awesome video

  • rogeliorulo,

The little girl who died today wasn't stupid, she was seven, and her parents are heart broken. Think about what you write before you send it!

  • The father is the stupid one. Next up hes going to take his surviving children to watch a tornado up close, followed by a nice scenic walk around an erupting volcano.

  • Tuuktalus, you cut me up, man...!

  • We were there during Hugo and even though we were standing on the sidewalk where it was completely dry, a rogue wave, much like the one today, came in and drenched us. Fortunately we only got wet. I have been going to Thunder Hole for the past 44 yrs, many times a year, and have witnessed many people go beyond the locked gates. I do not believe that was the case today. We will know more tomorrow when the media sorts the rumors from the truth. As far as we have heard, everyone was rescued today.

  • One girl died, two are hospitalized

  • When the water's coming up 50 feet to start splashing you in the face, it's time to get the f*** out of there...

  • LOL?? This is the exact place where today, Sunday, 23 August, 2009, 2 people lost their lives including a 7 year old girl. What do we find so funny about such incredibly stupid people who have NO respect for the power of nature?

  • WOW!!!

  • I've just returned from a visit (almost 30 years after my first), and what I saw looked NOTHING like this! LOL! Wow! So cool. Agreed - the sound on this must've been off the map; wish we could experience it via your video.

  • I have never seen swells that big at The Hole! Even after Hurricane Hugo rolled through in '89! GREAT video!

  • thats why the gate is sometimes closed. now it all makes sense. lol

  • This is AMAZING. It's so hard to catch Thunder Hole when is isn't dormant , so to see is like this would be a once in a lifetime experience for me. Hopefully someday I 'll catch during a Nor'easter also.

  • One of the best I've seen. Isn't it nice when you can look back on it from the warmth of your home.

  • Awesome clip! It would be nice when this storm was.

  • The pictures were taken April 16th and 17th--the big spring NorEaster. It was just above freezing, heavy rain and sleet on the 16th.

  • Great shots. Just wish there was sound!!
