why are they using a320s? not a340s? or a boeing 747?

Primarily because of passenger load, I guess. Using a long range A340 with so many extra seats isn't ideal for regional flights such as Manila to Xiamen.

No, I don't speak mandarin. But I can speak & understand little fookien.

You have to consider that it doesnt mean that if you're Chinese, you automatically speak mandarin. It's a national language, but many still opt to speak the local dialect.

Winawalis nila yung peanuts na binilad nila sa araw doon sa bubong nila, not necessarily to sweep for the sake of cleanliness. Tapos nilalagay nila yung mga mani sa sako. Minsan wheat ang binibilad nila.

Kada bahay may backyard para doon sila mag grow ng mga labanos, pechay, etc. Self sustaining diba? Naks. ;-)

Yeah, they have this style where they sort of glide for some time with the wheels close to touching the runway before they actually land. Try to observe PAL planes landing. These pilots are good! :-)

Pareho tayo.. sobrang lakas din ng ulan during my recent flight from DXB to PEK.. I didn't see houses like these there in Beijing... kahit doon sa old Beijing... what was the temp. when u went there? It was -10 degrees Celcius nung nandun ako.. grabe sobrang lamig! Sarap ng food sa China no! Goodluck sa graduation mo! Hope you graduate with flying colors :-)

I guess it depends sa location. Malamig sa Beijing and they require a different type of architecture siguro.

I've been to Xiamen lot of times and the weather is similar to Manila. A bit cooler though, specially in the months of October-February, and a bit hot during the summer.

Yup, masarap food sa China, kahit sa mga turo turo. Ayoko lang yung snake wine... hahaha!

In Xiamen do they speak in Mandarin or what's dialect; called Fujian hua?

All travels are put on hold till I graduate this March, hehe! Medyo overloaded tayo ngayon e, though alis na alis na naman ako.

Most people in Xiamen speak Fookien (I guess that's Fujian in other words). I rarely hear people speak Mandarin there, but I guess they understand it.

Yung village sa dulo ng video, yun yung place kung saan lumaki yung grandfather ko, tapos dinala niya ako doon. Halos magkakakilala sila doon, magkakamag anak. Pati mga ibang childhood friends/neighbors ng lolo ko buhay pa yung iba tsaka ka-majongan niya, hahaha!

Yup, can't wait to go back to the US again. Been a while since I've been with my siblings.

Anyway, halos lahat ng houses sa Xiamen ganon. Sa country side yung nakita mo. Pag di well-off, mga gawa sa bricks o bato yung house, tapos may rooftop to dry the peanuts/grain tapos ang CR nasa labas, parang balon. Iniipon yon para sa mga tanim, hehe! Pero pag may kaya, umaabot ng 3 floors ang house, tiles, etc.
