Helpful video is helpful. Learned the lesson to stay away from Razer when my Abyssus and Salmosa Mini started squeaking, and when the rubber layer came off one of my Krait scrolls and the scroll just gummed up on another Krait.
Worked perfectly with just a little air duster and a baby wipe. No more squeak... thanks!!! I had some reserves on removing the Teflon and rubber strips but as he said in the video as long as you don't let them stick to anything they will go right back to original placement.
you showed how there are two LEDs on a small piece being on top of the achis inside the wheel. Is your wheel lit out evenly?
My Mamba (2012) has an uneven lit, the right side is brighter than the left and if you look at the wheel right from the front, you can se the right side (inside the casing, next to the wheel) being lit out strongly, while the left side is totally dark (only axis has a weak glow).
Is that normal? Frustrating if the side facing you is darker than the other.
used a corner of microfiber cloth and placed it in between the scroll while and red button then used 1 SMALL drop of my hobby glue on the plastic on the right side of button away from the scroll wheel and its great no need to worry about it ever :D
Don't know if someone has posted it here in comments already, but that was quite idiotic (to be more gentle - useless) what you did with the side "holders". You didn't need to pick the whole rubber when you found out that the screw is just after your first revelation. That's what I did not do. But it's just a small notice.
@mahimahimindy wow dude.... razer said themselves that they fucked the scroll up but they arent going to fix it. and you say its suppose to be like that?????? when i scroll down it automatically skips the page up by two-three scroll and you say its suppose to be like that?!?!?!?!?!? you are stupid so you need to shut it. steelseries is nr.1
@yokris0 lol on you, i totally agree steel series is the best but razer was voted #1 but it is crappy but the new generation razers a better but i wont buy them i buy steel series :P

I have a different problem... my mambas scroll wheel is kind of loose, and makes a rattly sound when i scroll it. I can also slightly wiggle it side to side, and if i shake the mouse i can hear the mouse wheel shaking. I RMAd it, and the new one is the exact same... is there a way to tighten it or something?
@ShadowChickenz the same here. I bought mine few days ago; the scroll is loose and makes rattle sound and shaky feeling, when I shake it in air or move it from side to side on my mousepad. I've just written to Razer's technical support and introduced them my problem, but I'm considering to stiffen it by myself somehow with a lil drop of a glue on the plastic between the scroll and side wall or some slip among. If you try to tuck there a bit of paper or sth, you will notice the scroll is stable.
Great video. I just bought mine today. Im not experiencing anything squeaky yet but what i have noticed it that the wheel itself is a bit loose. When i play fps games i can hear the wheel going back and forth. I can move the wheel to left and right about 1mm. Is this normal ?
I got a Razer Mamba, and I have had this problem and this solved my problem. Thank you sooo much.
I also have 1 question to ask.
How did you get that white ring around the laser? I have heard it increases the "accuracy" so the mouse doesn't jitter on the screen. My mouse jitters a tiny bit, and I dunno how to actually get the new ring.
You, sir, are either very sure of yourself not to break anything while taking this thing apart or dropping $130 on a mouse isn't that big of a deal to you. Cool fix nonetheless seeing as it worked for many people.
@MrEnglishMuphin I work with robotics and electromechanical products for a living, I am just careful and use common sense. Usually thats all it takes... a little confidence that nothing is too hard helps too!
@JkaliJ You are quite right that the wheel design is very simple & direct but I think also the reason why the wheel breaks easy. I have a deathadder, much more difficult to take apart but the wheel section is the same (- the LED). My scroll no longer function & there's no friction when it roll, which i believe is handle of by that green thing, left on yr mamba.
Try taking a 7 yr old logitech mouse to see if I can replace the wheel section, very complicated design & not possible to switch. -->
(continuing) almost unable to put the logitech one back together because something drop out from the mouse section & took me awhile to figure out how it fit... but that mouse still works, after 7 yrs. Razer cost a lot & short warranty (1 yr at my area)... & the wheels will be the 1st to go, very bad design. I think we spend the money only on aesthetic, very disappointed.
If logitech have a dedicated gaming series, it will put everyone else out of business.
Hey this is a great video, I would just like to let you know about the one I made for anyone wanting to fix this same problem without having to get through the bottom (and unsticking the feet and sides). This is a screw-less method and If very fast, but does involve adding some grease instead of just cleaning the contact.
You may want to let people know that they don't have to pull apart their entire mouse to fix this problem. If they wedge that little flathead in to pop the top cover off they can access the bar that holds the scroll wheel in place via a small hole in the plastic on top of the mouse. I just sprayed some silicon oil on a q tip and put it down the hole, scrolled to apply, then popped the top of the mouse back on. Just be careful with the clips that hold the top of the mouse on.
Does wd40 work too? cause i really dont know where to buy that silicon, im from Chile. The problem i have is not the wheel, is the first click button. I wonder if its the same place where i have to put some "oil" in orter to make it stop making that noise? really nice vid, thank you a lot in advance, hope for some answers.
Great video. Just recently ran into this problem with my mamba, and its only been about 3 months or so. I don't know if I can live without this mouse for a few weeks if I send it into razer though haha, so I may try this method. Ill let you know if I do and it works.
I just finished putting my mouse all back together. Worked like a charm. Thanks again for the awesome tutorial. One thing that you forgot to mention though is when you reassemble the mouse, there are little hooks that have to slide into place right underneath the Mouse 1 and Mouse 2 buttons. Not a big deal though.
@ComputationMachine Ugh... yeah just figured this out after putting mine back together and realizing the 1 & 2 buttons do not work & the wheel is super stiff. Problem was those hooks! :)

My razer mamba is probably the worst gaming mouse I've ever used, not only was it expensive but I have lots of problems with my mouse.
#1 is scroll squeak..
#2 was when i left clicked it would do another mouse button click sound, but after some weeks it went away..
#3 and most problematic, the mouse randomly shut down, mostly when I play games..
I still have guarantee but the shop wants 250 SEK (about 37 USD) if they don't find something wrong with it.. crap mouse. Thanks for the vid though!
