@karutobi Yes, but that dosen't replace the ones we lost, which have qualities (due to foreign matter) that man-made ones don't have. Plus, it's simply a waste done to inflate the price of the jewelry they sell.
@CrimsonSunset218 the only difference between a natural diamond and a manmade diamond is the age.. diamods can be made from anything with carbon inside of it once so a prehistoric plant for instance would be crushed and burned for millions of years the carbon inside of it solidifys into a diamond while the plant itself is nothing ut gas and melted ashes every diamond is the same just vary in color
Sooo. You get a diamond for your ring. You wear it for about a year. You put it back in the box. You forget about it. After 35 years you wear it again. You die. They bury the ring with you. Its now worth nothing and people try to dig your grave for the worthless rock. This is why I trust pearl.
I'm wondering if artificial diamonds are of superior or inferior quality. Does the diamond expert base his conclusion on their being fewer or more imperfections than average?
As he mentions the colour being intense, I'm suspecting they're of superior quality; with the light being refracted with less "signal loss" as it travels through the diamond.
Could be wrong though(wouldn't be the first time).
@Probablyacowtbh "Artificial diamonds" are generally flawless, as opposed to the flawed natural ones. They are of superior quality, for a cheaper price.
I'm not very fond of the idea of wearing diamonds and using it to compare people and their fortunes. Not only is it a dead stone, it's also quite dull and has no color, making it even more cold and dead (Not all, but it's the most common type). Diamonds are good for industrial purposes though, such as cutting hard surfaces, or making a computer work better by being integrated in microchips.
HAHAHAHA......what takes nature several million years, now takes modern science just four days...what makes you think that you are better than nature.? stupid arrogant prick....!!!
I actually found a company that makes diamonds out of creamted ashes - I think is called my memorial diamond .com I thought this was really neat. They even have a video on how to do it
To all the men knocking diamonds as gemstone jewelry, you will never understand. Women who get diamonds are not spoiled bitches. The reason we like them is because it proves to us how valuable you think we are. I'm not saying someone who doesn't buy his girlfriend expensive things thinks she's worth it, but it's so sweet to have a man give you something that cost him 3 months of his salary. It you that you have the ability to care for us, and you didn't make a last minute decision.
@PervyPanda11211 ...dont be brainwashed by clever marketing lies..."Over the last century, De Beers has been highly successful in increasing consumer demand for diamonds. One of the most effective marketing strategies has been the marketing of diamonds as a symbol of love and commitment."...this is my definition of Marketing : the art of making the consumer think that they cant live without your overpriced junk!...
In order to grow a diamond in the lab, they need a base from which to grow it. In this case, it is a small, real diamond. So why can't they, after growing the diamond, just keep a few and break those down into seeds? The process will be self-replicating and (I assume) cheaper as they don't have to buy real diamonds.
This is a very beautiful process. For information on a very reputable company that can give you real information about memorial diamonds, go to My Memorial Diamond .com
Agreed to tippo747 and RealOathKeepers... This is just waste of time and money. What is diamonds for anyways, lol.. They might be able to be used in some long-lasting machine which needs to be super solid, but this is just bullshit and waste
Not really 'creating' or 'growing' diamonds, more like accentuating, or making the most of existing diamonds as it mentions that you still have to use a REAL diamond (to put in that graphite case) - is this not correct?
@viewervideo011242234 It is most likely standard industrial diamonds being used as seeds. Diamond has been artificially made for a long time now; the difference with gemesis etc. here is the size. Standard industrial diamonds are tiny - too small to use as gemstones.
Diamonds are used for drills, saws, abrasives, and hundreds of other applications. Even with out the beauty factor, diamonds are FAR from worthless. Anyway, good video, thanks for sharing dude.
girls just like to be thought of. its not a diamond in peticular, its a likeable thing a guy gives to a girl that is worth a lot of money. It has nothing to do with a diamond.
One of the biggest myths ever perpetrated. Diamonds are not a girl's best friend. They are a worthless rock. The damn things are so abundant it's not even funny. The lie of scarcity has sent the value through the roof, and people still believe it. These stones are worthless as sand on a beach.
@liviooo18 They have very little value though. They are like sand. We have plenty of it, so there is no need to pay thousands of dollars for one useless little rock to sit on some spoiled bitch's finger. Even in industry, should people pay a premium for a rock that is no more special than the next one, besides hardness? No way.....the diamond myth needs to die a horrible death. People are being robbed for these things.
True, the value ascribed to the things is far higher than it should be, and seeing how much suffering people's lust for the trinkets have caused, it is strange consumers are keen on them at all.
I would say that diamonds(and gems in general) are more important to humanity for their industrial and research uses than for ornaments. Of course, many of the more advanced processes would use synthetics, since they can take advantage of the accurate mixing of dopants and general deposition.
@RealOathKeepers the price of diamonds have been kept artificially high for ages, but I wouldn't say that they are worthless they have an enormous amount of industrial apllications.
@RealOathKeepers just like oil the cartels control the amount that is available to the public thereby controlling the price.debeers is worse than the mafia.
I wouldn't call them worthless,Doped Diamonds could replace Silicon in computer IC chips. but you are right, the Diamond industry do create an artificial shortage by holding back stocks.
the true revolution of diamonds would be to use it as a substrate for electronics. Diamonds have some of the greatest thermal resistancce properties, a diamond semiconductor can be overclocked massively and have immense computing power vs silicon which breaks down at 200+ degF.
Well, price wise, it bases on lots of things. True that DeBeers control its supply, yet it's sales affect the current supply's price even more so. DeBeers control it mostly because they want to avoid "war diamond" from flooding into the market. I sell them, and through rappaport mostly. The larger stone, due to it's lack of demand, prices went down, as forthe under 1 carat, price stabled and some months even go up, because people can still afford them, so they are still exchanging hand. Cheerz!
Diamonds are expensive because of thier rarity and to the scientific community they are very valuable because of thier general properties. They are the hardest substance on earth etc.... Now that they can be generated artificially - they should charge much less.
diamonds arent rare, DeBeers controls the world inventory and jacks up the price. If DeBeers werent regulating the supply it would be substantially cheaper than what it is now.
The emerald is more rare than the diamond, yet its cheaper
I don't understand how the machine supposedly built up pressure, they didn't explain. Do they heat it up? Or maybe add air pressure? Or hydraulic pressure...
It's all the above. The original Russian design was definitely hit and miss because no electronic control was involved. Now computers control every parameter automatically. That's why you just see one guy walking around the warehouse.
Diamonds are very rare and hard to make obviously; making them pricey.
Of course, there is the fact that it's a -gasp- diamond, so it HAS to be expensive, because that's what has grown to be their reputation, but there are a lot of factors that go into the price .
Lol, they can't be made, it literally takes biblical amount of pressure to fuse carbon and thousands of years to create a single diamond. The artificially diamond, they don't have the special characteristic of a real diamond, not nearly as hard and does not shine the way real diamond shines, because of it's light reflection.
Well that's pretty kool, Although its not free money if u own a diamond machine. The energy required to make one would be very expensive and is not too different to solar panels. Solar panels are made from essentially sand, the cost comes from the heat energy required to grow a silicon ingot. I'm guessing the heat energy to make a diamond would be similar.

I am really want to be a diamond miner because I had a project that I'll make a Katana out of diamonds and tamahagane steel. (Diamonds are strong but they're also sharp).

Why don't they just use lasers to cut diamonds to a particular shape? At the end of the video, a laser etched into the stone it was made in a laboratory. That laser at a higher power could easily cut a diamond at a greater precision than a human using hand tools and a spinning diamond encrusted wheel.
Based on what? I did some research after my post, and read that a lot jewelers are using laser cutting machines, but like to maintain the image of some man tolling away trying to make the perfect stone.
people tend to associate Luxury with being Handcrafted by a Midget in Switzerland, high up on a Mountain Top. singing a Tibetan chant, while polishing it with the Martha Stewarts vaginal fluid.
I'm sure almost EVERYTHING in say for example Donald Trumps 125 Million Dollar home was handcrafted..
I wonder if that house comes with a couple tickets to Ethiopia? probably not...
The whole Idea of Diamonds is that they are hard to find, when you just make them, then you can be like "Oh, here's a Diamond, here's another, there's another, lets make 10 more, okay lets make some more"
eventually, it would be like manufacturing glass.
prices go up when supply is down, and demand is up,
when supply is up, demand is down, and prices go down. it's common sense
diamonds arent hard to find....there is actually a surplus in Africa but the company holding it control most of all the diamond mines in the world and they only let a certain amount out into the market every year so they can make more money.
welcome to the real world... that is called monopoly... if the company decide to sell put more diamonds in stock the value will decrease as a piece of glass...
Diamond prices are high because it's controlled by a single company which monopolize the trade and limit how many diamonds actually goes inside the market each year. No competition means they set their own price.
We think it's valuable because of the successful advertising - give a diamond ring for engagement, girls' best friend, ect, but pound fo pound, rubies cost more than diamonds.
The reason they have to laser etch that the diamond as 'laboratory' is because the major diamond dealers are fearful of loosing the massive amounts of money they can get for supposedly rare minerals. Also, lab made diamonds usually have no flaws that a natural diamond would have. I think it was the russians that first developed the method of making the diamonds.
Thank you very much for posting these videos. I enjoy watching them and I learn a lot! I just wish I had these videos on my computer. It'd be easier to load.

The whole Idea of Diamonds is that they are hard to find, when you just make them, then you can be like "Oh, here's a Diamond, here's another, there's another, lets make 10 more, okay lets make some more"
eventually, it would be like manufacturing glass.
prices go up when supply is down, and demand is up,
when supply is up, demand is down, and prices go down. it's common sense

diamonds arent hard to find....there is actually a surplus in Africa but the company holding it control most of all the diamond mines in the world and they only let a certain amount out into the market every year so they can make more money.

that's retarded, lol I believe what your saying, but it's dumb...
Greedy Fucks

welcome to the real world... that is called monopoly... if the company decide to sell put more diamonds in stock the value will decrease as a piece of glass...

DarkAzoroth 3 years ago
Eh... if the lots of the fake ones are made, the real ones just rise in value. They will be harder to find.
