In the UK,the media portrays the United States as being the land of milk and honey with everyone living the American dream.When a government has citizens living and dying on the streets,I think it is time to stop or reduce the money that is spent on arms and start looking after your own.I fear that these terrible sights will become more common in the UK once the Conservative Government`s Welfare Cuts and Reforms take place.God Bless all of the homeless people in the world.
I sure hope these people have somebody to go to for Christmas. I'm not getting much for Christmas this year, but I know these people aren't getting anything. I'd give them all the money and gifts I got. It's sad that our country doesn't do much to help out these people.
If I ever become famous I would use most of my money to help the less fortunate because I know money isn't everything and its important for everyone to work together and help people in need.
Its really sad that there is homeless people all over the world. I have many stories of how I have helped the homeless. I usually don't give the homeless money but I will buy them a nice meal and clothes and products they need. I was out of work since March and got hired in November so I feel lucky I am finally making an income not much just miniwage but its something. Its really sad how people are losing there jobs and businesses are failing and going out of business and our country is failing.
I agree you can not help everyone, but you can help just one person. You can treat these people like people, and not less than human. They are on the streets for many different reasons, but any one of us could be on the streets as well. "God does not expect us to do great things, only small things with great love." I have everything that I need at the moment, I found out my wife cheated on me and it broke my heart in a million pieces. I am a good husband and father there was no need for her to destroy our family like she did, I am going to let her keep everything we own and walk away from her life forever. Many of the people living on the streets are in fact mentally ill and have no where they can go to get help or are so very ill that they do not even realize that help is available. It's not as easy as "get a job". There are veterans out there who are homeless. If they can't "get a job", how do you expect someone without a proper education, alcoholic parents, or abuse parents to "get a job". When you are living on a day-to-day basis, you can't worry about the future when you don't even know where you're going to sleep at night.

I have mix feeling about the homeless because most are living off the street by the choices they made and even in Canada and where I live I heard about this guy who lived on the street and the local police use to come by and offer that man coffee,food,and blankets and he refused their help. Years later he died and they found out he had a apartment and they found over $25,000 thousand in cash stuff under his matteress and where ever he could hide it. It was his choice to sleep on the streets.

two days ago i saw this homeless man with a dog standing on the street and his sign said "god please help me" i felt extremely sad so i gave him my ten dollars...i was going to use it to buy something for myself but i realized that he needed it more then me. my friend asked me why i "wasted ten bucks on a homeless dude" so i said "i didn't waste it...i simply used it to make a difference" some people dont realize how lucky they really are.
The best excuse for not helping is "they will just use the money for drugs or alcohol." You don't have to give them money, just a simple hello, how are you, can make a difference. Talk with them and see how you can reallly help..... thats if you have the time, because I know you have to go to work, to school, the bank, the gym, the store....ect... and don't have time for these people..... Don't worry I am also guilty of this and I feel ashamed!

I agree with alot of the positive comments on here. I would love to help these people out but you cant help everyone. But on the flip side, you have to be able to ask yourself, what happened to these people that have put them in the postions that they are in? Job loss or was it an addiction to drugs. My feelings are that everybody is given an oppurtunity in life to succeed and it is there decision on whether or not they make that choice. It's not that I dont care, its that I dont know.

@CerebralAssassin1977 well I use to work as a waitress in a restaurant and this homeless man came to eat...my boss told me kick him out now...I answered no he is a human being you do it...the next day the homeless man came back cleaned up and sober and in his right mind he said I want to see the lady so they let him in sober he told me I did this for you I am sober and I washed because no on ever cared about me before in my life! I believed him....

Its easy to say when you dont have a mental illness to get a job and get off the street. Most homeless would rather be homeless because their mental illness prevents them from being capable of doing the things you find simple.
When I took the train to Madison Ave in NY...when I got off, there was a college kid on the corner of the exit stop to the city street..(Stairway) and he had a sign up that read "Poor college student who needs some help" and at that time I was that and just kept on moving...And at night I so fucking regretted not giving him a few bucks or a helping hand!!! I guess everybody's rush in NY is contagious and it gets to you...That could've been me, I am a college student myself...FUCK

Giving to the homeless is kind of a catch-22. Like Haleykiss said, you can give a gift card for food or get them something to eat, but I did that a couple of times, only to watch the person take the food across the street to the dope-man for drugs. So what can you do? Some people seem to want to be where they are.
Let me give an example ok : a few eeks ago I was returning home from work and was approached by a man who pleaded with me to help him out food/money because ha had recently fallen on hard times, and he offered to do any kind of work on my yard/house whatever. I however was between paychecks so i was broke, but it touched my heart so much after I heard part of his story that I went inside and found a 20 dollar bill and gave it to him and wished him godspeed and told him to remember me. A start! ;

I hate to have to be the one to disillusion you, but this is the sad truth. Some homeless take in more money than you in a year, panhandling, spending it on drugs, and not paying taxes.
@genxxxersize I don't think anyone would argue that the life of a drug addict, who is so estranged form their family that no one will help them out an longer, has a wonderful life. Giving them money usually just goes to feeding their addiction though so it doesn't actually help them. Another large group of homeless people is mentally ill. Once again $20 doesn't help. They will still be mentally ill and not have a support system that cares enough to really help them.
If EVERYONE would just open their wallets along with their hearts we could finally put an end to this horrible situation that has been around for way too long. Technically there's enough to go around, no fuckin excuses, from politicians or laypeople. This is a touchy issue for most people because well, most people are never put into this awful condition/circumstance, and it behooves them to say the least.We have to give a helping hand when needed, or someday we might be in aforesaid predicament.

He eventually ended up finding a new job so he was only homeless for a few months. Not everyone is so lucky though. I suggest talking with a few homeless people and hearing their stories. Maybe then you'll learn to have a little compassion and understanding..
wow guitarmuffins, you obviously have never known anyone who was homeless on a personal basis. True theres people who are homeless because of drug addiction but you can't assume that all homeless people are drug addicts. A friend of mine was homeless for awhile last year, and no they weren't addicted to drugs. He had a full time job but lost that job, therefore lost his apartment because he could no long pay rent. His car was broke down so it was very difficult for him to find a new job.
I try to get tools like pliers, crescent wrenchs, pocket knives for them. I keep canned sardines & stuff like that available. Scrap metal recovery gives many of the marginilized a way to earn a living, at least here in Spain. The ones I've met prefer to be given tools so they can get the stuff done themselves. I make sure also that I'm not directly feeding somebodies habit. It's a tough call but to give money to addicts is to give cart blanch to Bin Laden.

People refuse to care about the homeless. People drive right by them and say nothing. These people don't have homes, cars, food, or bed. We drive right by them going to our out warm homes while they suffer in the night with an empty stomach and loneliness. It's harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God than a poor person. Let the first be last, and the last be first. I will care for the poor.

The maximum £15 weekly excess that some customers can get will be removed.
Limits on payments

Interesting that this video uses a song called Mad World. Many of the people living on the streets are in fact mentally ill and have no where they can go to get help or are so very ill that they do not even realize that help is available. I find it obscene that our government wastes money on every pork barrel project under the sun but can't seem to find any money for the things that really matter.

It's not as easy as "get a job". There are veterans out there who are homeless. If they can't "get a job", how do you expect someone without a proper education, alcoholic parents, or abuse parents to "get a job". When you are living on a day-to-day basis, you can't worry about the future when you don't even know where you're going to sleep at night.

I hate to hear "get a job" come from peoples mouth. Homeless people have all the odds going against them. And for the people who made it out, they just beat the odds which were slim to none. I have heard count less stories from homeless men, stories that could make a grown man almost boohoo. I would know since I actually take time out my life to volunteer to help donate, feed, and actually listen. Please people help each other out as humans we are all each others keeper.

Now when I see some guy going around from car to car or person to person bumming for loose change and these people don't get a chance to get out of their cars or into them before that guy is bumming for money. People like that makes me nervous and pisses me off when they should be looking for work and not money to support his habit. I have mix feeling about the homeless because most are living off the street by the choices they made and even in Canada and where I live I heard about this guy who lived on the street and the local police use to come by and offer that man coffee,food,and blankets and he refused their help. Years later he died and they found out he had a apartment and they found over $25,000 thousand in cash stuff under his matteress and where ever he could hide it. It was his choice to sleep on the streets.

two days ago i saw this homeless man with a dog standing on the street and his sign said "god please help me" i felt extremely sad so i gave him my ten dollars...i was going to use it to buy something for myself but i realized that he needed it more then me. my friend asked me why i "wasted ten bucks on a homeless dude" so i said "i didn't waste it...i simply used it to make a difference" some people dont realize how lucky they really are.

The best excuse for not helping is "they will just use the money for drugs or alcohol." You don't have to give them money, just a simple hello, how are you, can make a difference. Talk with them and see how you can reallly help..... thats if you have the time, because I know you have to go to work, to school, the bank, the gym, the store....ect... and don't have time for these people..... A man who cared about himself or about his family would never allow himself to go as low as some of these people, he would keep fighting everyday to hve a better quality of life. I agree with alot of the positive comments on here. I would love to help these people out but you cant help everyone. But on the flip side, you have to be able to ask yourself, what happened to these people that have put them in the postions that they are in? Job loss or was it an addiction to drugs. My feelings are that everybody is given an oppurtunity in life to succeed and it is there decision on whether or not they make that choice. It's not that I dont care, its that I dont know.

I believed him....

When I took the train to Madison Ave in NY...when I got off, there was a college kid on the corner of the exit stop to the city street..(Stairway) and he had a sign up that read "Poor college student who needs some help" and at that time I was that and just kept on moving...And at night I so fucking regretted not giving him a few bucks or a helping hand!!! I guess everybody's rush in NY is contagious and it gets to you...That could've been me, I am a college student myself...FUCK

Giving to the homeless is kind of a catch-22. Like Haleykiss said, you can give a gift card for food or get them something to eat, but I did that a couple of times, only to watch the person take the food across the street to the dope-man for drugs. So what can you do? Some people seem to want to be where they are.

Let me give an example ok : a few eeks ago I was returning home from work and was approached by a man who pleaded with me to help him out food/money because ha had recently fallen on hard times, and he offered to do any kind of work on my yard/house whatever. I however was between paychecks so i was broke, but it touched my heart so much after I heard part of his story that I went inside and found a 20 dollar bill and gave it to him and wished him godspeed and told him to remember me. A start! ;

I hate to have to be the one to disillusion you, but this is the sad truth. Some homeless take in more money than you in a year, panhandling, spending it on drugs, and not paying taxes.

@genxxxersize I don't think anyone would argue that the life of a drug addict, who is so estranged form their family that no one will help them out an longer, has a wonderful life. Giving them money usually just goes to feeding their addiction though so it doesn't actually help them. Another large group of homeless people is mentally ill. Once again $20 doesn't help. They will still be mentally ill and not have a support system that cares enough to really help them.

If EVERYONE would just open their wallets along with their hearts we could finally put an end to this horrible situation that has been around for way too long. Technically there's enough to go around, no fuckin excuses, from politicians or laypeople. This is a touchy issue for most people because well, most people are never put into this awful condition/circumstance, and it behooves them to say the least.We have to give a helping hand when needed, or someday we might be in aforesaid predicament.

He eventually ended up finding a new job so he was only homeless for a few months. Not everyone is so lucky though. I suggest talking with a few homeless people and hearing their stories. Maybe then you'll learn to have a little compassion and understanding..

wow guitarmuffins, you obviously have never known anyone who was homeless on a personal basis. True theres people who are homeless because of drug addiction but you can't assume that all homeless people are drug addicts. A friend of mine was homeless for awhile last year, and no they weren't addicted to drugs. He had a full time job but lost that job, therefore lost his apartment because he could no long pay rent. His car was broke down so it was very difficult for him to find a new job.

I try to get tools like pliers, crescent wrenchs, pocket knives for them. I keep canned sardines & stuff like that available. Scrap metal recovery gives many of the marginilized a way to earn a living, at least here in Spain. The ones I've met prefer to be given tools so they can get the stuff done themselves. I make sure also that I'm not directly feeding somebodies habit. It's a tough call but to give money to addicts is to give cart blanch to Bin Laden.

This is a wonderful channel!! I can relate to the issue of homeless. My good friend Jesse is currently homeless. He is a poet. This is actually his account I am on right now and I have taken control of it to rally support for him while he is out there. We have shot videos to document his experiences. I am sick to my stomach everyday with worry for him and am terrified he will not make it through the soon approaching harsh Canadian winter. Please people never look down on a homeless person!

People refuse to care about the homeless. People drive right by them and say nothing. These people don't have homes, cars, food, or bed. We drive right by them going to our out warm homes while they suffer in the night with an empty stomach and loneliness. It's harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God than a poor person. Let the first be last, and the last be first. I will care for the poor.

in Vancouver, a lot of homeless are there because of drug use.
so instead of giving them money they can just buy drugs with ..
i give them a gift card to safeway for 5-1O$..
so they can buy food with it, and nothing else.

I guess in order to make me not useful in life, I will kill people so they can go to heaven, then people will see me as the heaven bringer. At least that what I can do for people. The afterlife is everything for them.

@DoNotLaughAtMe I am not a theist I am a catholic. I have been in horrible points in my life where I wanted to give up but I didn't. What you do in this life will echoe for eternity. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and keep your chin up. Killing people will get you no where besides guilt and pain.

If only Science never existed, so we could of only live up to 28 years, quicker the better to eternal happiness. After all Science been destroying religion...
