I am a Wacom Intuos 3 user, and was likes to be able to draw... Only thing here that I can see be frustrating is drawing while resting the hand on the tablet/display, as this is finger responsive and not just responsive to a pen, isnt it pretty uncomfortable.

Does the free version of ArtRage come with the HP touchsmart or do you have to download it somewhere? If you do have to download it, do you know where you can find it?
I just picked up a pair of the new version of the tm2, for my wife and I. It has a Core i5 1.3 ~ 1.86ghz (turbo-boost, which now does on all cores), and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 (plus the new version of the Intel HD video, still switchable). The machine is a joy to use, and the new processor, video, plus the 7200 RPM drive makes it quite snappy.
A great machine all around, and it compliments my much powerful, but non-portable desktop quite well. Even for 3D gaming. :)

@DonPBeast16 It doesn't have an internal CD drive. You can order an external one when you order the tm2 or if you already have an external CD drive, it will work with it.
making strokes on photoshop seem a bit laggy. ha, but then again, i would personally use photoshop7. this is a great review for all those digital artists out there, thank you.
what are the programs that come with a store bought tm2 versus an online bought tm2?
If you order CTO from the HP site, it doesnt come with Corel 11 does it? I didnt see and option for it nor PS CS4 in the settings you could add. All i saw was PSE 8.
I love the transcribe audio. ".. that's the steepest months of but is it going to take a look at it is microsoft's windows and cut which is basically microsoft certification the camera PC's. we're going to take a look at ferguson service glove. this is what his own personal right the really neat west you do need a connection to this was little a little notice downloading the map the over the air and so it's much better than but sinking every single moment. take a look at him just insane"
I'm considering an upgrade to this computer, but the processors have really got me worried. The highest it will support is a mere 1.6 Gigahertz, which is far less then what I've currently got now. How well will this computer perform? It did seem like there was some lag in the video.
How come you just ignore all the times in the video when the touch screen seems to very apparently be failing to recognize your touch gestures? Shouldn't that be part of the review? The touch screen does not seem very responsive.
could someone please tell me if this comes with the ati video card in all tm2s, or if it's only in some of them. on ebay many cheaper ones are listed without the ATI card, but from this review i got the impression that all have the ATI card. wil
Thanks very much for posting this video. I am considering getting a tm2. Anyway I have a question. In 1:55 of this video and onward there seems to be some lag when you draw. (you draw the lines but they don't appear right away) Is this delay dependent on what program you're using to draw and what brush type/size you're using? If so, Would paying for better specs help lessen this effect?
NOTICE THE DELAYED DRAWING in CS4? if you have the same issue, update photoshop through the Adobe Update. I had the same issue with my tx2517, but it was resolved after the update.
To get the pressure sensitivity to work in Photoshop did you have to install any drivers or do anything special? It is not working in my CS4. Just curious, and thanks :P
On the quick ship 1070us model, the driver was not preinstalled. On the CTO model, the drive is preview installed. If you have the quick ship model, you will need to install the driver.
Do you happen to know which driver to install? The one HP told me to download didn't work (then again, they thought I had an N-Trig even though I told them I had a TM2-1070us :P) Thank you very very much for your reply! You are awesome!
@TotalDesignZ I agree with you TotalDesignZ I was hoping this machine would be better than what I am seeing. I even notice some lagging. It's a shame though I was hoping I could get something like the Cintiq that's more portable:(
It's not laggy like it looks in the video. Photoshop doesn't lag much and hulu lags once every ten minutes barely noticeably (I mean the Hulu program on the computer) I've been very satisfied as far as lag goes, and I was apprehensive after seeing this video too. I used to have a TX2 which had almost 2 times the processor speed too, so it had standards to live up to. I think overall it's a tough race between the two but this has AMAZING screen tilting and super long battery life so I likeit
I think that she was too retarded to install any drivers that would make the pressure sensitivity work AT ALL for that matter. It should work a lot better than in this video, very bad example imho. This laptop has 256 different pressure levels which is the same as my Wacom Bamboo tablet and it is supposed 2 b A LOT better than this. So don't be discouraged about what you see from this video. Although the Cintiq has 1024 different pressure levels I honestly dont rlly think u will c a difference.
How does this macine behave when connected to a video projector. I used my previous tablet for teaching. the possibiliteis, for classes, were endless when I connected to a video projector.
I've heard that the biggest problems with the tm2 are, of course, the no dvd drive and the slowness/lagging. Is this true? And which one do you personaly prefer, the tm2 or the tx2?
well the tm2 because it has a new motherboard and a newer CPU, it may have no cd drive because this allows it is skinny and you can get an external one plus most content is now digital.
i was thinking of buying this after hearing of it in january but the way i see it now, seems a bit laggy. if i purchase this with a better graphic processor, would tha lag decrease greatly? another question is what would you recommend to be an alternate to this laptop? i am looking for pressure sensitivity in photoshop, graphics good enough for gaming, multitouch(optional) and palm recognition while drawing. help appreciated.
@DChosenOneD also, this laptop will run COD6, on low-med settings if you choose the ATI, 1.6ghz model. Obviously it has multitouch and all the other things. Lag will also decrease greatly with the ATI and 1.6ghz processor.
Thanks for a great video Lisa! Ive really been whaiting for this. Im a graphic artist and im really looking for a good tablet to use with photoshop and illustrator.
It seemed that the pen was a bit slow in photoshop? How would you compare this tablet to a real wacom tablet in case of responsiveness? Also is there any kind of internal support for a 3G/wwan modem perhaps? im also wondering if the charger is 18,5 or 19 volts?
impressive people are complaining bout performance but this is not a high performance laptop this is for students, incredible impressive and the Microsoft surface its amazing
@howielo: the general rule of thumb is to look at it % wise. If it were 300 mhz base, another 300 would 'almost' deliver twice the speed of performance. the jump to 1.6 from 1.3 is only about a 2% gain. I am torn myself between going with this or something like a Fujitsu Lifebook simply because of processor speed (the responsiveness looks much slower on the tm2) - but the HP's ULV processors running super cool and long life is super appealing to me these days. I'm definitely torn!
I can't believe I've been ripped off not knowing about Tx2z using n trig and the fact that they do not support adobe programs and most pressure sensitivity programs! N trig is still not yet doing anything to fix this and their next project is to work on the multi touch capibilities...

@erika123500312 Dude N-Trig just made a new driver for the TX2 pens that now allow them to have pressure sensitivity in photoshop and any other app that didn't work with it before.
Please, please can you make a video about how the tablet works in terms of onenote 2010. Does it actually convert horrible handwriting into text? And is the touch technology very responsive?
Lisa that was a great review. I have a question about the heat and fan noise emitted by tm2. I had experience with tx2 and it got very hot and loud after an hour of use. Thank you!

Going with the dedicated video option will improve performance more than adding 300MHz to CPU speed. And the dedicated graphics option is cheaper too.

I tried this laptop and compared it with the touchsmart desktop today.
and there's one thing that I've noticed about the touchscreen between these 2 models
on the desktop one, It responds really quick as soon i put my finger on the screen that I can flick or do anything interactively
but for this TM2 one , I would have to hold my finger like 0.5 second before I start moving or flick it (you can see it on this video)
is there a way to adjust it to work like the laptop one?

There are 2 touch points enabled for the touch screen. That's it.

Anyone know how 1.3ghz compares to 1.6ghz?

Going with the dedicated video option will improve performance more than adding 300MHz to CPU speed. And the dedicated graphics option is cheaper too.

So save the 200 bucks from 1.3ghz +video --> 1.6ghz + video?
