@Broadcastbuddy2 -We're not exactly sure. I have never seen this problem often (outside of a lightning hit). There is NO indication of a lightning hit. I merely changed out this alternator for another installer. The malfunctioning alternator was sent back to Bergey for analysis. System is working great with the new alternator.
@Broadcastbuddy2 - Its working good. I dont have production numbers for you, but I can ask next time I speak with the owner. There were some controller issues which I think have been sorted out by now. They have redesigned the controller. Do you have the newer version? Let me know how that works out when everything is installed. oh and roughly where are you located?
So what happened to the Excel's alternator?

If I find out what they find, Ill post back.

@windsine Thanks, I'm curious too. Also, how's that ARE442 working now? I just bought the Xzeres442, I hope I made the right choice.

@windsine No, I bought the 442 HV, not the SR. Proud to say it's the first Xzeres/ARE unit in California.
Mine is going up right around the 4th of July, so when that comes around, I'll let you know how it performs.
I hope Xzeres did a little R & D on the old controller before they sent it out under their name.
I'm in the Southern California area (High Desert) BTW.
