Believe me, it wasn't the gender split that caused Mikalah to make the top 12. At that point in the competition, Amanda Avila was still around, and based on vocals, she had the talent to take the last spot in the top 12 and leave Mikalah and Janay as the two girls who would be going home. So, it wasn't the gender divide that caused Mikalah to have the last top 12 spot, it was America that chose personality over talent
