@kular22 i agree and although times have changed there are still some people who can't get past the fact that theres a major diffrence between physical disabilties which helen keller and i my self have i'm not deaf and blind though and mental and intellicual disibilites
wow!!! she really inspire me..i just know her now thanks you for putting this. Thanks for my curiosity and for wanting to know her. There is really no coincindence.
I've read a whole book about her and I was shocked by how strong a character she had. I'd like to be in 1 of 1000 so determined as her one day. She had 0% sight and 0% hearing, which is really rare and yet she not only learned step by step the meaning of words but in the long run got higher education and became a social activist and writer! Few people with full sight and hearing achieve that.
Thanks for this video.Love it and love helen keller!She lead an extraordinary life and had great achievements.She was beautiful,and bright.She tought us as well as Ann sullivan that nothing is more important than love and spirit.And helen learnt to be guided all her life long.Not anyone can succeed great things all by himself.He needs other people.We would be nothing without other people;
It's pretty funny how mainstream depictions of Keller tend to omit her affiliation with the IWW and various socialist groups. (That's not directed at this video.)
I bet you got an A++ ... what an amazing piece !!! You have certainly educated me more about the amazing human being that is HELEN KELLER ... great job and thank You =.] Absolutely Loved It!!!! =.]
isn't sign language universal...so if kids were all taught sign laguage in school they could communicate with anyone on the planet regardless of the language they speak??
Sign language is not universal, though many people believe it is so. There is American Sign Language, French Sign Language, Japanese Sign Lanugage, etc.
There are even signs that vary regionally, much like spoken languages have regional dialects.
I give you an A+++ for this video! Well researched, nicely edited and your intonation when reading kept me interested right to the end. What a giant contribution she has made! Well done to you for "using" her to make yet another wonderful contribution!
Sign language is not just for communicating with deaf people. It is also great for communicating across quiet or noisy rooms, through windows and just so others in the room don't understand what you are saying ;-)
Hope your project goes well! This documentary is good. Check also one called helen keller and anne sullivan on here - from 1930.
I remember reading about her when i was 12. Soon after I was so inspired by her I took a sign langauge class to communicate with those with this sort of disability. I tell you it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm proud to articulate for them when ever I encounter some one with a hearing impairment
What a great video. You put it together very well. There were several points in your presentation that I didn't know. Helen Keller and Ann Sullivan were amazing women. I'm sure you got a high mark on your project. I know I am impressed.
Well done. I am 41 and I just saw "The Miracle Worker" yesterday. I had heard the story but didn't grasp quite how amazing Helen and Ann Sullivan were until I saw the movie. - What a wake-up call to anyone who thinks they have difficulties to overcome.
You go girl. How far did you go in the competition? It was an amazing video. I'm parically blind she is my biggest role mode even before I lost part of my sight!
i'm in eighth grade and im doing helen keller for nhd (national history day project) i'm doing a website im not done yet but check it out at: i know it's long but just copy and paste: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/Content.MSO/PubWebPagePreview/pub3504.0/index_files/Page508.htm
well xlovexsuicidex, I think your sign in signature speaks volumes about you. Being deaf is not the end of the world. Something tells me you would use any excuse to kill yourself.
Well it's a good thing Helen Keller didn't share your philosophy. She lived a long life and was quite an inspiration for folks. She's been gone almost 40 years and she still IS an inspiration. Hopefully you will never have to experience deafness or blindness or any other disability. But for all those folks who have and lived to conquer the limitations, they are quite miraculous.
Very well done. I have been saturated with Helen's words since my seven year old became enthralled with her. This was very well done. When you mentioned Mark Twain, I just so happened to finish a chapter In "MidStream" where Helen devoted an entire chapter to her best friend. They were exceptionally close and she never recovered from the loss of Mr. Clemens.
Thank you for making this, and then posting it to Youtube. I've put it on my Myspace page. You are an inspiration! Helen was a truly amazing woman, as indeed was Anne Sullivan. I marvel at the way these two women came into each other's lives and how each would have been, without the other. Sometimes 'paths' our destined to cross. Anne's unhappy early years, ensured her 100% committment to Helen. From two such spirits a miracle was born. Thank you again, Carissa.
Beautifully done! I teach Helen Keller as one of the Virginia 2nd grade Standards of Learning. Would you mind if I copied this to show to my classes? I would, of course, credit you. (Our web software screens out YOUTUBE.) Thanks for your hard work!
