@xXxStrangleHoldxXx totally! drunk, not drunk, brown sound, '08 Roth reunion tour sound, Ed's solo here vs his solo there...the huge number of changes to VH's sound through the years = more killer stuff to listen to. Saw them in '04 in Calgary, the place was dark, suddenly Ed came strolling out, his first note sounded like a chainsaw through a PAF pickup (at least as I drunkenly remember). Never heard a live intro that fierce, by anyone. Still, critics did nothing but pan the '04 shows.

Always loved Ed's playing on this live solo...he was definately on his game that night, 5*s! The only thing that bothers me is that his tone deviates a bit from his standard one...a bit too thick (or bassy) here, yet a "great" tone nonetheless. Eddie the King!!!

@5150RDH I have to agree with you on this. I have lots of VH recordings and have seen them with Sam and Gary. But the 95 solos REALLY hit the mark. I personally love this style of tone because it sounded a little THICK, especially for the " Balance " material. Just my opinion though.

@5150RDH I think his tone was very well rounded. Generally low mids and bass are a little higher when playing outside, and I think this was some type of ampitheater if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, yes Eddie was untouchable.
