I have raised sets of babies and that seems to be the case. As long as you don't isolate them for periods of time, they will not be aggressive against each other, males included.
@redo7706 No. do not keep the males together for their whole lives. They'll fight each other. If the the male bettas are still fry then they won't fight and it is safe to keep them together with all the fries. Actually you won't even tell which ones are male or female until about 6-10 weeks of age. Once you see the males fighting you have to separate them all. Females are okay though ^.^ they won't fight. Bettas can have a lot of eggs. I believe mine had around 150-200 or so
@ThowHilton i read onlline while i was searching how to breed bettas that you can keep the males together if they were all from the same spawn and never ever ever ever seperated. so that isnt true??
what do you feed the fries with...what do you do to keep the water fresh.... how were you able to keep the fries healthy.... I known how to breed but never able to keep the baby betta alive for more then 4 days....
@camery96 Brine Shrimp, change the water keep 15-30% of the old water and possibly use a sponge filter. Keep in a 10 gallon. feed brine shrimp everyday 1-2 times a day . You need 78-80 degree water follow that and your fry should stay alive and be healthy.
@ThowHilton u got any conditioning tips because i am breeding and i want alot batte frys and i can't tell when my female betta is conditioned because every time i think she is he side then shows she isn't cause before u can't even see her stirpes
can u plzz do a step by step vid on how to breed the betta fish i have mastered taking care of them well i would think i did knowing i have 12 but i really wanna no how to breed them bc all the outher vid on here are gay and poor quality plzz help mee
hello I have a question. I want to get my betta fish to spawn, but I was wondering if you let them spawn in that same temporary home that you show here? Or like is it possible to let them spawn in a tank around that size and after they get older I'll switch them to a bigger tank. Or do I have to get a 10 gallon tank from the beggining?
@x74xyz research sir. fries are sensitive check the pH of your water, feed them just enough leftover foods can spoil the water on the tank that is fatal for fries
oh wait and i think some betta fishes are dead cause its dirty,or it was fighting with anouther betta fish.golly this guy keeping care of it is not even takeing care of it
hell... most of them survived. Some people work so hard and put so much effort into a "standard or top notch " tank that they don't really know how easy it really is to keep them alive. But this was just a temporary tank i moved them to a clean filtered 5 gallon tank about a week later.
I have a question about Scud/Freshwater shrimp. I know you can feed them BBS but that is very dengerous on account of swimbladder disorder. my uncle is giving me some scuds to feed to my fry, will the fry be able to eat ther baby scuds/freshwater shrimp?
i dont know to much about scuds but as for a typical shrimp their skin/ exoskel are very hard for baby fry of most fish . It can scratch up your fry's insides / then death. I say stick with bbs , the only think bad about bbs is the empty eggs that they leave behind which end up being eaten and result in fucking up your fry. The fry will float up but will most likely with age be able to survive the swimbladder disease, all empty eggs will float
oh ok thanks for the help. I'll look into the microwave thing a little bit more. I also heard you can hatch the BBS without saltwater. like add a teaspoon of baking soda or something like that and hatched them normally. then feed them
yea pretty much. The easy way i did it was keep my male in a tank with the filter off for like 3 weeks with a fair amount lettuce. soak it into the water. Take it out every week and ahalf and replace it with new lettuce. The infusoria eggs are in lettuce. After this spawn the female and male with no lettuce. Im pretty sure the water will look a pretty darkened shade. Let your fry survive off this and egg yolk for the first week - 2 weeks. then feed bbs as soon as possible.
lol, worked it out they are bout 7 week, glass on my shitty tank does also makem look about half size. they a nearly an inch and on close inspection they do have fins, parents are white so doesn't help :)
hi, my babies are about this old and they are still like big tadpoles....they eat infusoria and egg, zucchini, bbs...lots of variety...they even like those tetra holiday gel disks. I got some mikrapan they don't seem to go for it tho
it usually..doesnt..but i dont know how strong your sponge filter is, so just in case turn it off or take it out. stick to sucking out the poop with a tube syphon but becareful not to suck up the fry
im guessing you got past the mating stage..basically just make sure the water is clean with a sponge filter,.. make sure you feed it once a day at least with baby brine shrimp but if you can do 2 times a day even better.Change and refill the water with CLEAN water rain water is good if you cant get anything else,i didnt use dechorinated water cause it still killed some of my fish. once they get around 7-10 weeks, you can feed them mosquito larvae if you can find them. This is all i did, good luck
yea crush it like mad good , scoop out a little bit of water from your fry tank and put it in a cup. sprinkle only a pinch of flake food and stick it in the cup then stir and give it to your fish. soon or later you need baby brine shrimp go to petsmart.
yep...they are goners....you HAVE to get some food set first before spawning. They will not eat flakes, only live food at that stage. Even then, very rarely do adult bettas eat flakes.
Make sure You change the water by like at least 15-25% a week ,to much change of water could cause shock in your fish which will kill em, also use only drinking water refills, you can get some at Walmart, Albertsons shit like that cause when i used dechorinated water it really fucked shit up like 10 fish would each time and if the theres to much shit use a ear dropper syringe to suck it up. But Mostly make sure you feed them EVER single day with Baby Brine Shrimp you can get a vial at Petsmart.
the reason they are dying, they are growing bigger and so compact in a small bowl like that, or else the water condition.. move them to a bigger space like a TANK or something .. and the water isnt enough for them.. so yeah
I have raised sets of babies and that seems to be the case. As long as you don't isolate them for periods of time, they will not be aggressive against each other, males included.

darkplakat 2 years ago
I didnt keep a single sponge filter and that was a bad mistake. I just kept my tank clean by doing water changes and syphoning the poop out
ThowHilton 2 years ago
awesome betta fish i see you keep em simple but its a effective method- i breed bettas a lot
bluong26 2 years ago 2
how old do they have to be before they cna leave the tank and be seperated?
Jcrexxor 2 years ago
keep the females together itll be easier for you but youll notice males with long fin seperate them when you see them fighting aggresively
ThowHilton 2 years ago
ok which is around 3 months I am guessing?
